When Dealla mentioned the legs, Opeila looked at the paper again. "Yeah... That's what I am scared of. I am totally going to destroy it." She chuckled. The Ravenclaw thought about what to make and almost knocked Sylvain's cup of tea over. "Sure! But do you know that it is the biggest Kelpie in the world and only prefers the snake shape? So it can change it's shape. Are you doing the snake that the muggles always seem to get excited about?"

Apparently the other Ravenclaw girl, Lizzie, didn't know that, as she stated that she could imagine that it was real. It totally was!
Opeila watched Lizzie sew her teabag together and it looked quite good. She didn't expect it to jump into Lizzie's teacup though. And then splash her. Startled she leaned back, chuckling at Lizzie, who didn't look like she had expected that either. Trying not to laugh too obviously, she looked around. "You should uhm... probably cool your face..." There was no cold water around.
Sylvain definitely found it as funny as she did but showed it more openly. Opeila sent him a smile, she felt bad laughing at her, maybe she had actually hurt herself.

Sylvain calling her Miss Opeila made her smile. It immediately reminded her of Flash, who had called her that as well. "You can just call me Opeila, no need for formalities, I think.", she told him. "An otter! I like that." The boy started to work on his teabag as well, so Opeila decided to do the same. Carefully she cut the outline. She had worried too much, it was not that hard. Macbe the squid didn't look too realistic the arms were definitely too short, but Opeila didn't mind. It could have looked far worse.

The sewing and filling went rather quickly and easy as well and soon Opeila put her little squid in the water. She smiled even more when it started to move it's legs and swim in circles around the cup.
Sylvain left after a while, telling them that he still had some studying to do, leaving the girls alone. They were soon joined by a familiar Gryffindor prefect. Opeila waved at her, happy to see her. "Gris, how are you doing? I've already finished my squid here, I think he is doing okay." The legs were not the same length, it's swimming didn't look too elegant, but Opeila didn't mind.
Then Lizzie left them as well. "Okay, see you around!"

Syl and Lizzie's reactions to Dee's question about Nessie were so offhand that it might have scared a less confident (or more attentive) person than Dealla into silence, but Dee was hardly fazed at all. She nodded along to Opeila's remarks, hands already moving to cut vaguely the shapes she'd need from the filter paper that was available. After a second of thought, she cut two more sets of shapes from the paper. With that, she could try one of them after she was finished, and keep the other two for later.
She would maybe have tried making it from the silky fabric, but it would probably be a waste of material that fancy to turn it into a misshapen likeness of the Loch Ness monster.

"Actually," she explained as she started sewing the pieces of the main body together carefully, although a little irregularly, "in many Muggle stories, Nessie isn't a sea serpent, although wizarding researchers say that that's its preferred shape. In Muggle pictures, it's often something more like... a sea dinosaur."
She looked up to throw Opeila a quick grin. "Making a serpent would be rather boring, don't you think? Where's the challenge in that?" The long neck of her first Nessie bag turned out a bit lopsided, but stayed upright after she gave it a fierce stare. Dee nodded in satisfaction, and, leaving one side open so she could fill in the tea later, she got started on the second one.

Her second try turned out a bit more symmetric than the first one, and by the time that Lizzie's monkey decided to start an impromptu water fight, in which it was the only participant that had any ammunition, Dee was well into her third Nessie-shaped masterpiece. Lucky for her, she was sitting far enough from Lizzie and her monkey that none of the tea splashes reached her, or her tea bags might have become soaked before she'd had the opportunity to actually put tea in them.
As it was, she just giggled at the exuberance - and, if she was completely honest, at Lizzie being splashed with tea - and then asked a house elf to bring her some tea leaves. Her favourite teas at home had been flavoured green tea ones, sencha with mango and citrus, or with peach blossoms, but she wasn't all that picky. Any good green tea would do.

Dee was a little disappointed when Syl left right after finishing his otter tea bag, but waved after him, not very concerned. They had grown to be friends quickly after their game of chess, and there would be more opportunities to hang out, with both of them being Ravenclaws.

She was just finishing up sewing the third Nessie when they were approached by an older Gryffindor approached their table, a girl she recognized from sight to be a prefect, and greeted Opeila, before offering Lizzie a fancy looking handkerchief to wipe her face with. She seemed nice, and gave off a warm feeling that made Dee immediately want to return warmth herself.
There was a genuine smile on Dee's face, bright and a little curious, as she looked up to return the prefect's greeting, who Opeila had called 'Gris'.

"Hi!" Dee chirped brightly, her eyes sparkling animatedly. A little realization struck her. "Wait, are you the one who offered this? Thank you! Yes, this is fun - although I think I'm not very good at it," she observed, nudging her three Nessies so they all looked at the prefect. All of them were a little lopsided, all in different ways, all unique. "The ones that the others made were much prettier. Can you guess what I made?"
Lizzie's departure got another absentminded wave while Dee reached over for the hot water to try one of the tea bags as planned, then stopped. "Wait, we can have them charmed, I almost forgot!"
