Philip inched a little bit closer to the Duellists, trying to depict what kind of brawl they were planning to get themselves into next. "That's a Fire spell from Andréas! And his target is still Kabukimono..." Green flames were conjured from the tip of the eldest Castelobruxo Duellist's wand, steadily making its way towards Akari. "...and he evaded!" It seemed that Verona wasn't the luckiest on the field today, as his spell again narrowly missed the younger Mahoutokoro boy. Akane pointed her wand at Verona in the meantime, trying to get him off his feet with a strong gust of wind. Verona was vigilant enough to step out of its way. "Oh, a bit unsuccessful here."

Maybe it was because his last spell did not hit its target, Akari aimed at Luuk this time. It was a beautifully cast Green Sparks Charm - for some reason Philip knew the exact name of this spell, and he wasn't going to let this chance of him shining slip away. "Green Sparks Charm!" He exclaimed, eyes following the course of the spell and expectant of whether it would arrive at its destination. Yet Luuk was very prepared for this - perhaps he had already noticed it when Akari was waving his wand, or maybe it was just because he was very slippery - and he dodged that spell so easily that Philip began to suspect if he could tell the future. "Whoa. Spectacular!" And Luuk, on top of this, acted as if he decided to grant no quarter to their opponents. Philip's eyes widened as the dark-haired Duellist finished casting, and the spell struck Akane true. "He did it! Tjin-A-Wing did it!" It wasn't Philip's fault to be so hyped - this was literally the very first hit today! Luuk cast so determinedly and confidently that Akane had nowhere to escape to. She had to accept the fate of her wand suddenly slipping from her grasp, landing somewhere yonder that she wasn't going to reach with a single stoop.

As those old saying went; "a smooth sea neve made a skilled sailor", that how Ronnie felt once Round 2 was over. Why? Here's the breakdown: after the end of Round 1 and the breaks before transitioning to the next round, which is Round 2, it was like a sea breeze. Calm, lulled people to have a little bit of breathing space, and still enough that the metaphorical water had not been rippled.

But the matter-of-fact is, the water had been rippled but not strong enough to create a sea storm. Then, as Round 2 crashed the shore, the Brazilian boy prepared to dodge and throw the next spell that was in his repertoire. And thus, when the momentum struck, the boy did not waste a beat of a second.

He raised his wand, pointed to the youngest Duellist — Kabukimono — as he wanted to show his Duelling prowess. To Kabukimono and the two other Duellists that stood on the same piste as him. Ronnie is a seventh-year, after all. He should have had more experience than the others. More superior than the others.

And yet, two rounds in, his spell has not hit his intended target. Ronnie stared at how Kabukimono had dodged his Fire Making Spell II just a fraction before the jet of fire hit him. Like how Kabukimono could see it coming by just paying close attention to the swishing of his wand before Ronnie could even incant the spell.

It was humbling, really. But the Ramírez boy won't admit it aloud. Not here on the duelling platform. Not ever if he can help it. The first time Kabukimono had dodged his spell, Ronnie took it as just a lucky dodge. The second time it happened? The second youngest in his family brushed it off as merely a coincidence.

Then he wondered what the next outcome of his spell would be for the next round if he was still aiming for the same target. Ronnie stared into his walnut wand wood. As if the wood had betrayed him immensely after those two failed attempts. But Ronnie did not have the luxury of dwelling on such trivial things, as he could feel a gust of wind from a Ventus directed toward him.

Being targeted by a Wind Jinx was not Ronnie's first experience. After all, when he was a fourth-year — all those years ago — the boy had faced very formidable and harder-to-takedown opponents than the Duelling he is currently in. It was also the time when the Brazilian boy helped the Castelobruxo Duelling team strategize to conquer their enemies.

Thus, when Tjin-A-Wing's Expelliarmus hit Shimizu, the eldest Duellist did not offer another compliment or encouragement. It seems actions speak louder than words in this dance of Duelling. With Tjin-A-Wing's Disarming Charm hitting his intended target, it proves to Ronnie that the fourth-year Castelobruxo kid is capable of his own battle and did not need Ronnie to hold his hand figuratively.

XXXHis Green Sparks Charm burst brightly, a few of the emerald shades darkening to teal or lightening to a lime colour. For a split second, it almost distracted him. But how effective was a pretty spell when it didn’t hit its target? Not much, clearly. Akari’s bid at hampering Luuk’s accuracy flew so far off it was pitiful. Yes, his aim hadn’t been very good initially, but Luuk seemed to anticipate it so easily it looked to be nothing more than a trifle for him to dodge. Akari grimaced slightly, focus turning on Verona, sidestepping the next spell that came his way. He was clearly upping his game.

XXXOn the other hand, Akari’s wand seemed a bit upset that he wasn’t performing similar spells, but he couldn’t be on the offense all the time, especially with a matchup like this. The flames blazed past even closer than the seventh year’s last spell. Still, Akari remained resolute. Those dodges could have been flukes, but he would gladly accept them.

XXXHe checked the other side of the duelling piste, where Akane had gone for Ventus. He didn’t know that spell yet. Sadly, it missed as well. Akari was just about to turn away again when their duelling captain’s cheer alerted him to what had happened: a well-aimed Disarming Spell from Luuk had rid Akane of her wand, a rather unfortunate occurrence. Say what you might about the kid’s age or experience, but he was pretty good at his job. The commentary lifted his spirits without favouring either team.

Once things started to go wrong, it was hard to get back on track. Of course, the trajectory of a duel was not to be so simply deduced from the first two rounds, and it was certainly beneficial to maintain an optimistic outlook, as well.

Akane defined "started to go wrong" as when she missed two spells -- or three, if the split counted as two -- in a row, then had the pleasure of being the first of the duelists on the piste to unsuccessfully evade. She rolled her eyes as her wand flew out of her hand, and watched as it landed quite a few paces away from her. Buh-bye, see you never, it seemed to say to her as it lay pathetically on the floor. You could never expect too much from a chopstick, even if it was a handcrafted magical one. Speaking of chopsticks, the Japanese girl was starting to miss the wooden chopsticks she had back home, and the comforting food that came with it. The Western food at camp was driving her insane.

"Good evading," she noted to Akari, just to keep herself busy while thinking about her next steps. He seemed to be faring better than herself due to his having something to cast spells with. What was wrong with her today? Usually, she had no problem hitting her targets...

He saw it before it came. The beautifully conjured Green Sparks Charm, sparkling in the distance in radiant emerald glow, the spell forming a green cast on the Mahoutokoro boy who was aiming it. Intuition and agility perhaps played a role, but the clear visibility of the verdimillious rendered it easy to perceive — it thus did not require great amounts of effort to simply step aside and allow the spell to whiz past him, for its direction toward him was readily anticipated.

Reveling in what seemed to be a flow state of sorts — one typically induced solely by duelling, where Luuk distanced himself from all other thought – he took the opportunity to send a disarming charm in Akane's direction, a clear "expelliarmus" incanted. The boy watched as the stick — the magical stick that enabled all offensive action in this game of wand-waving — removed itself from his opponent's hand. It was a spell that had been honed with repetition, for it held a certain utility outside of duelling that other spells did not. To be able to disarm provided a blanket sense of protection from all intending to cause harm.

Beside him on the piste, Verona did not seem to be faring too terribly either; though the older boy's spell was dodged yet again, he too was able to evade one directed toward him. It had been a while since Luuk had felt any ounce of optimism. It was perhaps premature to say that he felt any now, for optimism did not come by easily, but the brunet could ascertain that there was some resolute determination now rooted within.

"Ughhhhh?" It wasn't Philip's fault to get confused when a blindfold suddenly wrapped itself tight around Luuk's eyes - he was pretty sure that the one who cast the spell was the younger Castelobruxo Duellist himself. Weird. Did a backfire just happen? Merlin, he had to be more cautious in the future. Philip tentatively licked the inner side of his mouth. Huh. He hoped that Luuk wasn't so discouraged by this little failure. However, almost the next second, another blindfold solidly hit Luuk. Philip's mouth dropped into an "o", confusedly turning his eyes towards the Mahoutokoro team. He soon figured out that it was Akari who also opted for a Blindfolding Spell and also decided that the unfortunate Luuk should be his target. "Well, er... Nice play Kabukimono! And I'm really sorry, Tjin-A-Wing!"

Verona, though, was determined to prove that the Castelobruxo team was capable of successful casting. "Oh, look at Andréas!" Philip screamed out when Verona nailed a Knockback Jinx - classic choice as far as he knew - at Akari, and although the latter noticed it and attempted to dodge the incoming spell at the last minute, the spell came faster and caught the boy with its radius. That must hurt. On the other hand, Akane was quick on her feet to retrieve her lost wand, and she soon regained possession of it, again clutching her weapon and perhaps ready to attack. Huh. This was slowly getting fun.

It is so weird to hear the young lad — Philip Rosser — called the Seventh year Duellist nby his second middle name. The oldest Duellist had used to people called him by Verona. Sometimes people addressed him by Ramírez — which is his last name — and Ronnie was fine with it. Most of the time his family and friends called him by Ronnie but never Andréas.

Hearing his second last name being called aloud like that made the boy feel somewhat a lot older than his real age and feel like entirely another person. The Brazilian did not question the moderator's choice of how to call the participants. But still, it feels weird to hear it out loud like that. But now there was a more pressing matter that needed Ronnie's full attention.

After failed attempt on Round 1 and 2, Ronnie had almost broken his wand in half and just threw it carelessly into the spectator and called it quits. But as Round 3 rolled in, he felt like this was his moment to shine. Although not so much. Round 3 was basically still the same as the last two previous rounds.

The calm before the storm, if there was one. He used to be helped making strategixed for Castelobruxo's Duelling team when he was a fourth year, and aimed his wand toward his opponent. Three out of four were busy attacking each other with their magical foil. "Flipendo"The boy exclaimed. Although Kabukimono managed to dodge Ronnie's Knockback Jinx, it still wasn't fast enough for him to avoid it entirely.

As the spell hit the youngest boy, the Duellist felt a sense of something other than betrayal from his wand, like it did in the last two rounds. And it was true what people said. Sometimes third is the charm. Does Ronnie feel a little bit optimistic after the hit? Perhaps. Does he want both himself and Tjin-A-Wing to win this whole thing? Absolutely!

With that coming into the boy's mind, Ronnie gripped his magical foil tighter in his left hand and was ready to cast another spell toward his opponent on the other side of the piste.

For the first time since the commencement of the duel, Akane had a moment to stop and idle around. She reached out to snatch her wand, which was thankfully not farther than two or three paces away and allowed her to observe the duel at the same time.

Viewing a duel from the outside vastly differed from the experience one had when caught up in the flurry of spells. The action going on was aggressive, and it was the first instance where each of the active duelists' spells found a target, even if it was not the intended target. The sixth year nodded as she saw Akari produce a well-cast Blindfolding Spell, which, upon slapping itself into Tjin-A-Wing's eyes, would unfortunately not have made the darkness he was currently enshrouded in any darker. The action on the other side of the piste, not counting the younger Castelobruxo student's miscast, included the Knockback Jinx, which barreled its way to Akari, though barely making contact.

For the next moments, the piste was devoid of the sound of whooshing of spells again, the serene quality of the air only broken by Philip's enthusiastic shouting. Akane looked down at her wand, as if to make sure that it was still in her grasp.

Of course it was to be self-inflicted. He thought he had prepared enough — that he was quick enough to dodge most that came his way. And it was true, for he had been sufficiently nimble such that he had, hitherto, managed to evade all sent his way. He always managed to run. To escape.

To survive was imperative.

His father and the man's crude remarks. His mother's evanescence. He ran from it all —

Only to succumb to a wallowing, bottomless pit of distrust and despair and disorder. A pit inflicted by nobody but the boy himself. To evade others he could, but the self was an entity unavoidable. It was thus no surprise that his own obscuro would succeed in placing him within the depths of the void, black consuming his vision whole. It barely registered when another piece of fabric became bound around his eyes.

XXXAkari tried to dodge the next spell from Verona as well, but it did indeed catch him, sending him hurtling back. The impact knocked the breath out of him, but it wasn't too bad. Perhaps three dodges in a row was a little too much to hope for. Akari wasn't going to stop wishful thinking, though. Phillip's cheer did confuse him a little, though. Andréas? Who? He stared across the piste, mind slowing for a moment. Oh, that must also be Verona.

XXXHis own spell landed nicely-- on top of the blindfold already there. What in the world? Akari blinked, checking on Akane. No, she had only just retrieved her wand, which meant the Castelobruxo dueller had miscast and afflicted himself instead. Either way, the end result had been achieved. Akari cheered internally, dusting himself off from the Knockback Jinx and preparing for the next round of spells. Duelling could be a little confusing, since magic was rather unpredictable, but it was still as riveting as ever.
