It was my second day in Diagon Alley and after spending what felt like hours following my parents from one shop to anoher I reached the point where I wanted only one thing.
Ice cream.
"Please?" I asked pointing towards a shop looking up at my parents "Can I get some?"
They exchanged amsed looks before my father handed me a few Galleons.
"Go on then" Mother said "We are headng back to the Leaky Cauldron. Enjoy yourself for a while and be careful not to go wandering into the Knockturn alley."
"Have fun!" Dad added.
"I know" I said quickly taking the coins. "Thank you both so much!"
A few minutes later I found myself standing outside Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlour.
Its cheerful pastel storefront stood out brightly among the other shops and the colorful enchanted sign made it imposible to miss.
The moment I stepped inside cool sweet air surounded me. The shop was busy with families, children and students and spoons made sounds constantly buming against glass bowls while soft music played somewhere in the background.
I looked around for a seat.
Every table was occupied.
Well almost every table.
There were only two empty chairs at a small round table near one of the windows.
Perfect.
I looked at the menu and ordered The Candy Connoisseur then I went to the table and sat down ready to eat it. I always liked chocolate flavored ice creams but I thought I'd try something different today.
I looked out through the window watching the colourful crowd of Diagon Alley pass by which taking huge bites of my yummy dessert, when the little bell above the door rang.
A girl entered.
I imediately noticed her unusual choppy blonde hair. Her bangs kept falling into her doe like eyes and her button nose and soft features made her look almost like a delcate doll. She was around my height perhaps a little taller with chapped lips and a noticeably toothy smile.
But there was something else about her that made me hope she would be my friend.
She looked around the crowded parlour.
Then her eyes landed on the only empty chair.
The one opposite to mine.
I glanced at it then back at her wonderng if this quiet, slightly nervous looking girl was about to become an important part of my journey.
"Magic can make anything happen. It reveals itself only to those who have eyes to see it"

Bonding over ice-cream
When Nicole stepped over the threshold of the shop, she was immediately pushed into a throng of people by the excited kids behind her. She pushed and fought her way to the front, mumbling apologies and giving small smiles to the people who didn’t hear her words. By the time she reached the front, overbearing scents hit her nose. Something too strawberry. Rose, with its overbearing and sickeningly sweet smell, that would most definitely make a honeybee spiral into pleasure.
She rested her forearms on the glass, standing on her toes to take a good look at the menu. The shop had anything but vanilla with them. Nicole sighed in disappointment but immediately perked up when she saw Death By Chocolate. The shopkeeper must’ve read her mind, for he gave her one humongous cone of Death By Chocolate. It was enough to give any sane person cavity. It was perfect.
Managing her cone with one hand, she dug into her pockets for money. It was affordable. She placed the coins on the counter before moving away, shielding her ice-cream from the shoves and pushes. Nicole found a quiet place to stand. Licking at the chocolate, her eyes almost rolled back in utter delight. This was one of the best ice-creams in the history of best ice-creams. There was one place empty though. Lucky her.
It was next to a girl, who seemed to be scarfing down her own dessert with equal hunger. It was just one girl. How hard would it be? With that optimistic thought in her mind, she pushed her way to the table. It was next to the window, right near the exit. Perfect for Nicole if the girl turned out to be mean. No—she wasn’t going to judge her.
“Is this seat taken?” Nicole asked softly, tucking in her blonde hair behind her ear. She went for a small and hopeful smile. Surely, the girl would offer her a seat. Right?
