Infatuation Overdrive
@Novalie Moon
Beginning of term, end of their second week back at school. Harvey moved with purpose around the castle as the lad took care of business. He held his nose in the air towards those of his peers that scattered around in a panic. Proper planning prevents piss poor performance, the words of his grandfather rung through his mind. They wasted their summers with holidays and picnics while they should have been preparing themselves for third year! The boy wouldn't admit it of course, but he felt that pressure too. School was hard enough already and now they had even more courses to tackle. Muggle Studies and Runes he could handle, but Care of Magical Creatures and Divination?! The thought of those classes made him shudder. Why in the name of Merlin did they need to know these things, but master them he would.
With a sigh Harvey kept himself from getting too frustrated by it all and made his way for the courtyard. While no outdoor enthusiast by any means, the lad had taken to enjoying a bit of a stroll or a leisurely flight around the grounds to help clear his mind before dinner and then more studies. So, he pushed the grand doors open and let the fresh air wash over him. There was already a nip in the Scottish Highland breeze. Quite refreshing now, but it did hint at the autumn and winter soon to come. Small legs carried him forward. A flash of pink stopped him in his tracks. What a horrid color. Why would anyone change their hair to that color...
HER!
Harvey's eyes popped with a mix of recognition and a slight bit of terror as Novalie came to stand directly in front of him. While her metamorphic powers were quite impressive, what on earth was she playing at! "Novalie, why?" Was all the boy could manage as he looked her over. Cotton candy hair, heart shaped pupils, cheeks a rosy red, hands now clasped to either side of her face. "What's the matter with you? Are you ill?" Surely she must be as Nova began to stutter and mumble. Merlin knows she was not one to ever be at a loss for words. Harvey's beady eyes darted around the scene, but unfortunately there wasn't anyone around to pawn her off to. As he returned his gaze to her he would be left in an unfamiliar state of ignorance.
Matters of the heart find everyone eventually, but to Harvey it always seemed a bit distant. Like it belonged to others more than it ever would to him. Perhaps that was just his practical and analytic nature. Those feelings really don't make sense when you think about them. Or maybe it was just the lack of examples in his personal life. Harvey's grandfather had long since been divorced and his own parents were never an item to begin with. Either way he was not well tuned to that telling look Novalie had presented him. "Do you need the hospital wing?" The boy was doomed...
