___For this day onward (at least that was the plan), Millie intend to lay low after couple of days full of adventures to finds out all about her great-grandfather. Wandering the entire castle and its surrounding, even took the big risk of detention, still not a single thing she managed to find out. Thus, make her previous thought resurfaced, Is it really not here? Then, where?
___No matter how very long sleepless night she passing, Millie still couldn't have any idea where to start. That's why, she thought better be think that later than dive her mind deeper to the unknown dark ocean. She need to refocus on her own school matter, doing her abandoned homeworks that just sat untouched on her desk in her dorm.
___However, not for now. At least, not today. It is weekend after all, she need more relaxation with the nature around this magical school she just occasionally have a time on. Breaths a fresh air that could never be found anymore in the filthy, modern city just a couple of minutes drive from her home.
___Finally found a great spot to wind down, the girl then flopped down on the seemingly fresh grass, just like that. Doesn't even care to double-check if there is anything on it that could maybe ruined the cozy vibe and her time to lazed around.
___From her sweater's pocket, Mr. Hobkin poking his head out to looked where he is right now. After that, he climbed out and followed his owner to dropped his body on the grass. No, rather, that ferret looked like he does a chasing on something once his feet touched the grass, maybe a insects, with that little hop and sudden run out of nowhere.
___Millie just let him be, minding her own business while slowly dropped her body even lower until she lay flat on her back. She let out a long sigh. Eyes on the clear sky above. Good today's weather is on her side.

The Great Hall started to feel oppressive. Or maybe it was because of too many people that one place that probably made her like that. People pushed past her, from excited first-year students to bored fifth-year students who had seen all of this five times. Nicole didn’t blame them. She probably would have the same reaction if it weren’t for the magic that seemed to captivate her. Her mother had said that magic was all around. Except right now? It was all around them, both literally and figuratively.
The ceremony that decided their houses went okay. She had expected Gryffindor, but Hufflepuff seemed cool. Except she didn’t have the guts to talk to anyone. When nervous, she just started spewing random stats, Muggle and Magic both. The Headmaster casted her a quizzical look when other students went to their dorms or went to explore the castle while she went away. Air. Nicole needed air. She walked towards the patch of green she could see in the dark. Perfect. So what if the werewolves howled, banshees screamed? What would she not do to get away from people and suffocating places? That was a loaded question.
She trudged carefully, tripping a bit because of those gnarled roots that seemed to be on top of the ground. Nicole swore that she saw a unicorn. Or maybe it was her imagination running wild. The smell of wet soil and something sweet like berries seemed to float in the air. The fog was still heavy around her, covering everything like a blanket. She stumbled upon someone or something sitting at the base of a tree, back against trunk. Definitely a ‘someone’. Nicole paused. She assumed everyone would be inside, after all, no one in their right mind would be out. Right?
She walked cautiously near the stranger. A girl. She exhaled softly. “Isn’t it too late now?” She asked softly, voice cracking a bit as her hands hugged her torso to converse body heat.

___Millie slowly opened her eyes, which she herself didn't realized it closed for a bit moment because of the calm breeze soothed directly on her face. Before her, a girl—an absolute unfamiliar face with seemingly timid body language: a first year—took her own spot not too close nor far from her.
___Although she can guess she mustn't treat this first year badly, Millie however can't help but answer her question with another question rather a clear answer of obvious, "Come back at you. What you doing here if it's already that late?"
___Slowly and lazily, Millie straightening her back and sit to a proper form. Facing back her new guest, Millie now rise the corner of her lips, forming a smile. Not too wide nor too exaggerate. Just appropriate smile.
___"No, it is not late yet according to me," she said, trying not to makes the firsty more intimidated by her own natural unbotherness. "You can still walking without a need of Lumos, right? If the answer is yes, then it's still noon for me."
___Hm, she unknowingly just said Lumos to the first year, don't know if the girl is muggle like her or not that might be confused her more further. Uh, whatever. If she asks, Millie can simply tell more as simply as she can so this girl can also learnt if before Professor had told her in charms class.

Oo-kay. This just got interesting. Based on the information that Nicole gathered about the girl in 2 minutes was that she was obviously an older person. Definitely not a first year—they were too shy and timid to be alone in the woods unless seriously stupid or just needing fresh air.
The grass seemed to cushion her as she sat down next to her. Nicole had kept a respectable distance between them, maybe a little too much. But it was for the girl to decide. “Lumos? Is that something they’ll teach us here?” She asked curiously. It was a genuine concern for a Muggle-born student to ask, and so Nicole hopes some mental points wouldn’t be deducted for such stupid things.
She still hadn’t replied to the first question. Why was she here? Nicole had been asking herself the same thing when she found that her feet had their own mind and seemed to be taking her towards the forest. Though, ‘needing fresh air’ sounded like a dumb reason but honesty was the best policy, right? “It was way too crowded for my liking.” She said with a short laugh, shaking her head. The blonde strands flew a bit in the breeze that blew over gently. She pulled her coat tighter around herself.
“Noon is kind of an understatement, considering the fact that it’s pitch black.” She mused, casting a quick glance at the girl. She still couldn’t decipher her face. A werewolf howled somewhere distant. Nicole stiffened slightly

_____Uh, oh. She guessed just right. But well, at least she just said one of the most easiest spell and completely harmless one out of the most. With that, Millie pulled out her wand from her sweater's pocket, chanted the spell just a little louder of a whisper and swished her wand before the light came out of the tip of her wand, lighten them both with the very basic Lumos spell she had learnt.
_____"Yeah, certainly," she said after her short presentation and immediately put the light off back with Nox. "So I will not give you another spoiler as I respect the charms Professor's spirit when she teach you that spell for the first time."
_____Millie intentionally didn't asked more about this first-year girl, with the certainty she had asked about the spell that makes her have none of wizard blood on hers. Not that she was being sentimental or anything. Besides, she also a muggle-born. Just like this girl. Millie just thought that doesn't have any point if she pry too much into her family's matter.
_____When the girl voiced her thought again with the reason she coming here at his hour to looking for a fresh air, Millie then couldn't help but seeing her uncertain short laugh. Maybe it was just Millie studying people's face quite too much all of this time that now she practiced that habit to this first year. She then mentally pushed that thought out of her mind to the unnecessary bin.
_____But then she took a quick glance at her along with that sudden stiff of behavior, Millie then understand this girl didn't really wanted to go here, especially at this too late hour, because she was afraid of something. Millie pondered for a moment what she was scared of when she faintly heard an animal's voice from afar.
_____"Relax. If there really something dangerous approaching us, Mr. Hobkin will not be wandering around until now and quickly went back to me," Millie said soothe her somehow, yet still looking around for her ferret's whereabout. "The Forbidden Forest is quite far from here and I believe it's passed a lunar phase for this month."

Nicole watched with concentration, her eyes sparkling in interest. Honestly, she was sure that she must have looked like a child who was fascinated with a new toy. Her eyes never seemed to leave the girl’s hand when she swished and flicked her wrist to lighten the tip of her wand. How cool was that! Just a few more weeks and she, too, would learn some awesome spells.
“That’s, like, so cool!” She chirped, scooting closer to the girl. A wide grin stretched on her face—a first real reaction she gave to anyone since she came here, to Hogwarts. The light had captured her attention. Her fingers reached out to touch it, before she withdrew her hand. Nicole moved away again. “The charms’ professor? Is she really that amazing?” She huffed out a breath, blowing her hair out of her face. In the light, it glowed like a beacon.
Somewhere, in the dark, a werewolf howled. The hairs on her neck stood. Blood roared in her ears as her fingers dug into the soft moss underneath her. The girl next to her looked as unaffected as ever. It looked as though it was an everyday routine for her. She shook her head in disbelief. She relaxed a bit. So maybe her nerves were heightened. Nicole’s brain still couldn’t wrap around the fact that she was going to a bloody witch. Back at home, she would most definitely have the biggest bragging right.
“Mr. Hobkins—as in, your pet?” She asked cautiously. Her eyes roamed around them to look for a tiny creature. Like a cat or a rat. Or perhaps even an owl. Her shoulders hunched as she wrapped her arms around her knees. Oh, would you look at that. The girl was concerned. At least, Nicole thought she was. Or maybe not. “I’m Nicole.” She introduced herself awkwardly. Honestly, small talks weren’t really her thing. But hey, there must be points for trying.

____Upon hearing the girl introduced herself as Nicole, Millie formed a smile on her face as she rummaged through her pocket. Looking for something that will be certainly pulled a certain creature to come to her almost immediately.
____"Yeah, he is. But no need to worry unless you have something delicious on your pocket or he'll be the one devoured it whole before you get a chance of it," she said that with a shrugged, have zero intention to explained more as she now grabbing a small plastic bag. Once she tried to open the bag, as she had expected, a rustle came from behind. Slowly getting closer to the girls. Then it jumps directly on the open food bag. A ferret, with its dark earthy fur looks similar to the tree not far from them. Perhaps if he competed with a chameleon and hide together around those trees, they'll be both a winner.
____"Hey! Have a manner, would you!" She hissed and tried to pushed the ferret's tiny head out of the food's bag. Although he obeyed, it still seemed no bother to hear what his owner said with his mouth still busy chewing his treats. Sighed, she sheepishly smiled at Nicole and shrugged. "Here's Mr. Hobkin. And see, if he enjoy his treats this much, that means no danger we need to worry about. At least for now."

Her eyes followed the ferret as it ran around in circles around the other girl. It was much obvious that the pair was much attached to each other. Such bonds with animals that were merely used in spells was most definitely uncommon. Nicole stretched out her hand hesitantly. The animal looked at her with its dark eyes, stepping forward before darting away underneath the other girl’s robes.
“Why, he’s the most gorgeous creature ever!” Nicole crooned, absolutely delighted but her happiness dimmed a bit when the animal vanished from her eyes. He had blended with the trunk, kind of like a chameleon. She strained her neck to search for the animal. Finding none, she just settled back. “I’d offer him some treats, if I had some.” Nicole said with a bit of dismay but seeing the smile on the other girl’s face, her disappointment evaporated like snow on a sunny day.
“Is it just me or is it chilly here? I’m a bit used to warm weather, so it might be just me. . .” Nicole asked, rubbing her hands together as a cold breeze whooshed, making the leaves flutter. She pulled the coat tighter around herself. The dirt on the mossy floor of the earth stirred up a bit. “You got a cool haircut.” She blurted out, immediately chastising herself for the abruptness. At this rate, she just wanted to tape her mouth shut.
