After finishing up lessons with his tutor the day before, Leo was excited to get to spend the weekend with his grandmother. He wasn’t sure what they were going to be doing this weekend but he didn’t really mind because he loved getting to do stuff together. When his parents dropped him off, Leo ran up the front steps of his grandmother’s house and right up to her, wrapping his arms around her in a tight hug. The gentle old lady smiled and chuckled softly as she hugged him back, “Hello, my little Leo.”
The pair walked inside together, his grandmother’s housekeeper, Marlee, offering a friendly smile to the young boy as they passed by her. “We will be going out together today, I need you to be on your best behavior, alright?” She said to him, placing a hat on top of her head that had a large flower on it.
Leo watched as she got her things together and nodded his head. “I understand, I will,” he said quietly back to her, rocking back and forth a little as he waited. Leo had wondered why he needed to be dressed up today when his parents told him but decided not to question it further.
Picking up his grandmother’s purse for her and handing it to her. “Thank you, 내 천사 my angel.” She took the purse from him and smiled, “Are you ready to go?” Leo gave a small nod and his grandmother said her goodbye to Marlee, taking his hand to lead him out to the car.
The car ride felt long for the young boy since he didn’t have anything to occupy him. Leo leaned his head against the cool glass window, watching as houses, people and trees rushed by in a blur. Finally they had turned off the main road, pulling into a long tree lined drive that led up to a huge house. Leo sat up in his seat as he looked through the front windshield from the back seat as they pulled up to the front steps. Leo watched as his grandmother stepped out of the car and quickly followed suit, stepping out and going by her side. Leo’s eyes followed a man that had gone up to her and took the keys before driving off in the car. He had seen it done before at another party his parents had dragged him to where they parked the car for them so they could go inside.
Today, however, the party was being held outside. A shorter lady had come out to greet them, leading them through the tall front doors. Inside there was a grand entry way, a large marble staircase that led upstairs to the right of him, and long hallways on both sides leading to different doors and rooms. Leo would have loved to explore all the rooms, trying to see what he could find, but his grandmother’s hand held his and led him sadly away from the mysterious rooms and outside. They exited the home through equally large glass doors and were led down some more steps to the back yard where tables were set up, people were standing around talking and in the distance past the party was a large garden area.
His grandmother stopped walking as a lady came over to greet them, “Hello, Mira, it’s so good to see you again.” The lady said, glancing down at Leo and clearly forcing a smile onto her face. “Ah, is this your youngest grandson?” The lady asked as she looked back up at his grandmother.
Mira looked down at Leo, patting his head gently and smiling softly. “Yes it is, this is Leo. Leo, sweetie, say hello to Mrs. Kingsley.”
At his grandmother’s request, Leo bowed his head slightly at the lady. “Hello, ma’am, it’s nice to meet you.” He kept his greeting short but polite as he clung close to his grandmother’s side.
“How.. precious,” the lady said but Leo wasn’t sure she truly meant it as she barely glanced at him. “Come sit down, we will have tea served soon.” Mrs. Kingsley said, turning to lead them to the tables where the other guests were mingling.
Mira looked down at Leo, lifting his chin up to meet her eyes. “I’m going to go over and talk to the others, I know you will be bored of us,” she chuckled softly and caressed his cheek. “Why don’t you go find somewhere to sit and read your book until lunch is served?”
“Okay,” Leo said before walking through the white cloth covered tables that were neatly set with plates, multiple glasses and silverware. He glanced back toward where he parted from his grandmother to see her making her way towards two ladies to talk. Although he wasn’t sure what to do to occupy his time, he looked around until his eyes fixed on the garden area he had noticed before when they came outside. “I guess I can see what is over there.” He said to himself, wandering over to the entrance of the gardens where a beautiful green bush was shaped into an archway.
He walked along the bush lined garden, looked at some of the flowers that were planted there. Leo couldn’t recognize most of the flowers until he walked along and got to a bench that had rose bushes on either side of it and a tall tree behind it covering it with shade. Sitting down on the bench, he looked around and noticed more topiaries that were cut into different shapes and a greenhouse in the distance. It was almost like the garden was a little maze that you could get lost in. He looked at the book in his hand, something he borrowed from the library to bring with him for his weekend visit. This was a great spot to sit and read for the young bookworm as it was quiet and peaceful. He opened the cover and started reading, enjoying the warm late spring-early summer air.

Her dad, Julian, was busy packing her suitcase. She looked around and suddenly remembered that she wanted to bring a book with her. It was a book about the language of flowers. She had adored it and kept reading it lately. “Are you all set?” Julian asked Rosaline as he was ready to close the suitcase. “No, there’s one book I want to bring.” She put the book inside and grinned at her dad. “Alright! I’m ready to go.”
Julian picked up the suitcase and checked his watch. “Indeed, it’s about time to let you go. Enjoy your weekend!” He handed the suitcase to her and patted her head. Before she stepped into the fireplace, she cast one more gaze at her father and said, “Bye-bye!” Then she announced her destination. In a swift moment, she was already in a classy drawing room. Her grandmother, Thelma, was waiting for her on the velvet armchair. “Dear Rosa, welcome.” Her grandmother rose from the chair and extended her arms to her. Rosaline gave her a wide grin and hugged her back. Rosaline’s hands wrapped around her, resting her head gently on Thelma’s chest. She could sniff the nostalgic scent of citrus and a powdery floral note from her grandmother. “Hello, Nana.”
Rosaline was used to this situation. In the suitcase was a change of clothes for her to bring to her grandparents’ house. Her parents would be busy at work this weekend, so she was going to Wrenford Manor to spend the time. She loved going here to meet her family, though her cousins were all at Hogwarts now because it was during the semester. Only her grandpa and Nana were at home, as her uncles and aunts were busy as well. The little girl couldn’t understand what they were busy with at the moment, but she supposed she would know some day.
Rosaline sat on the couch and carefully placed her luggage beside her. Glancing at her grandmother, she still thought her Nana was always so elegant, from every angle. “Rosa,” Thelma called her gently. The call pulled her back to the conversation. “Yes?” Tilting her head, she answered. “Do you want to attend a gathering later today? I don’t want to leave you here, and you might be able to see some children there. What do you think?” Thelma spoke as she smiled softly. Rosaline’s eyes lit up as she heard the word ‘children’. “Oh, of course. If I don’t meet any kids there, I can still read my book,” she chuckled.
—
Rosaline held Thelma’s hand, standing beside her. Looking around, she found that most of the members here were ladies her grandmother’s age. Pouting a little, but as she spotted the grand garden, her whole face brightened up. She swayed Thelma’s hand gently, looked up at her and asked, “Can I go there later?” Thelma replied seriously but not very sternly, “Wait until we greet the host.” Then a lady approached them, her face was all smiles. “Welcome to here, Thelma. It’s a pleasure to see you here,” the lady greeted Thelma. Then she suddenly noticed Rosaline and asked, “Who is this cute girl?” The lady’s expression seemed caring, but she sensed the lady was not really interested in knowing Rosaline. The young girl still greeted politely, “Hello, it’s nice to meet you. I’m Rosaline.” Thelma squeezed her hand gently, putting on her practiced social smile, “She’s my granddaughter.” The lady glanced at Rosaline, as if she were weighing her importance. Then she moved her gaze back into the conversation with Thelma. Rosaline pouted again, unable to understand the subtle adult mannerisms.
Finally, the conversation ended. Thelma brought her to a table with other elegant ladies. The table was full of desserts and tea, but she didn’t want any; she just wanted to go to the garden. Thelma sat on one of the chairs. Rosaline looked at her in an anticipatory expression. Thelma couldn’t help but chuckle, “Okay, okay. Here you go. But stay safe and don’t go too far.” The moment she got the permission, she smiled at her grandmother first, then headed to the garden, almost skipping.
She brought the book with her, so she had a chance to study the garden, and identify all the flowers. The place was designed like a labyrinth, full of winding paths. Rosaline had a poor sense of direction; she wasn’t sure she could find the way out, but she trusted her grandmother would come looking for her if things really went that way. For now, she was captivated by all the beautiful flowers. As she walked along the bushes, she leafed through her book to match the blooms before her. This iris symbolized faith, hope and wisdom. That violets nearby meant fertility and love.
Birds were singing in the trees. As Rosaline kept walking into the garden, she paid little attention to her surroundings other than the flowers. When she finally looked up from her book, she realized she was already lost. She froze briefly, observing the roads she had walked along, yet every way looked the same. Tucking a strand of her hair back to her ear, she tried to calm herself with the action. It worked. She stood there, seeing a path ahead. Following her hunch, she walked toward it. Oak trees lined the side. The sunlight filtered through the leaves, casting glints on the ground. She walked on, feeling a bit like Gretel from that fairytale. But a hint of adventure rose up; she was excited to see what she would encounter. She carefully turned a corner and saw a boy sitting on the bench. He was about her age and reading a book. Rosaline wanted to greet him, excited by the fact that she had met someone in the garden and also a kid her age. In a rush, she tripped on a twig and fell forward. “Oh!” She hadn’t expected her first meeting with someone new to begin with a stumble.

The light calming breeze blew through Leo’s black hair, ruffling his short bangs. As he sat there reading, the only sound that broke the silence was the soft tweeting noises the birds were making in one of the nearby trees. All around him was beautiful flowers so his nose was hit with a wave of different floral scents with each breeze that blew by him. It really was the perfect day outside, and even more perfect for Leo to sit and enjoy his book.
As he read his mind wandered back to thinking of his grandmother for a moment, wondering what was going on over at the adult’s party. He was sure he wasn’t missing anything important but he still wished he could have been by her side despite enjoying his own alone time at the moment. Leo had always been closer to his grandmother than anyone else in his family. Maybe it was the fact she was the only one who could understand him in his eyes since she was the only one in the family who wasn’t embarrassed or trying to hide his abilities from the rest of the world. The young boy could never understand what was so wrong with the special powers he was born with that made his parents so worried about him showing them in public. Although he couldn’t control them much yet, he had been secretly playing around with it. Little things like his hair or eye color was something he had seen change with more intense emotions so he had put some focus on trying to control them. So far he had gotten his hair to change color but he never was able to test how long or do anything extreme because he didn’t want to get caught.
The thought occurred to him, he was alone right now, maybe it would be okay to play around a little. He placed the book, still open on his lap and closed his eyes. Leo held his eyes shut tight as he focused extra hard on the color he wanted his hair to change to. When he opened them again, he looked up at his bangs, pulling the strands straighter so he could see the color, a light brown color. He smiled as his little challenge went as planned, now to see how long he could keep it up.
Leo picked his book back up and continued reading from where he left off. The story was getting to some exciting moments as he heard some noise coming from nearby him. His first thought was concern that he had been caught changing his hair color by one of the adult guests that was wandering the gardens but looked over to see a girl in a little green dress walking down the path towards him. Surely she didn’t see him change since she was just coming around the corner just before he looked up so he was able to relax a little. As he was turning his attention back to his book, he noticed out of the corner of his eye the girl trip over something and almost fall.
Leo normally wasn’t the type of kid to go up to people on his own and start a conversation or anything but he had seen her almost fall and was worried. He quickly closed his book and ran over to where the girl was, stopping about a foot away from her. With a slight head tilt, he looked at her curiously before speaking softly. “Are you okay?” He asked the girl, rubbing the back of his neck with one hand while the other held onto his book. Honestly Leo hadn’t expected to see any other children here, especially not out on their own in the middle of this garden maze like he was. He glanced down at her hands and saw she was holding a book too so he tilted his head even more to try to see what the title of it was. “What book is that in your hand? A book about flowers?” Leo asked the girl, straightening himself back up to face her properly. It made sense why she was wandering out here by herself now since she was looking at all the flowers.

date place tags wc speech outfits 15/05/21 Elsewhere... @Leo Noxley 902/200 #36563c Facing the ground - what an odd angle to look at the world - the dirt was soft and smelled like it had been freshly rained on before Rosaline lay on the ground. What happened? She tried to understand the situation because it was highly unusual that she fell, on flat ground, by a twig. But yeah, things happened; she fell, and tripped nastily. Her elbows held her body, and her knee was on a rock. It had sharp edges. She could feel that. Her knee stung. There must be a wound because other than the stinging feeling, she could sense the metallic smell of blood. She furrowed her brows. It shouldn’t happen. Really.
The young Everhart’s mind flashed with the memories of all those etiquette lessons she had taken: the certain deportment she needed to maintain and the instrument she must learn and be adept at. Nothing led to this moment, which she didn’t anticipate at all.
Recalling the moment of falling, one of her feet tripped on the twig - there might be a scratch on her patent leather shoes - she tried to balance herself by taking another step forward, but it was proven to be futile. Her knee smashed on a rock and her body on the ground. This was the end result of it.
The boy she saw earlier came to her and asked if she was ok. She answered with a calm voice, though still remaining in the same position, “Not entirely ok, I guess. but not too bad either.” As she tried to sit up, she propped her hands on the ground to hold her weight. She could finally see the wound on her knee. Redness, with some dirt in it. It didn’t feel that bad, though it looked quite nasty. But the twinge was annoying. She ran her fingers around the wound and gently pressed the area to feel it. It should be fine. Her grandmother could easily fix it in a second. Rosaline pursed her lips, head down, staring at the fresh wound for a moment, a little bit longer than she should. Then she rose up as she dusted off the dirt from her green dress. Although there were still some smudges on it. And she finally turned her face to the boy. The curiosity grew inside her suddenly. Rosaline glanced at him. He had pretty brown hair and the look of a kid from a good family. Perhaps he was here to accompany his family. She didn’t know whether he was a regular of this kind of gathering or not since she hadn’t been to too many of them. But he seemed to be more comfortable staying here than her.
Momentarily, she realized this was her first ever interaction with this boy, and his first impression of her would be a girl who possessed no balancing skill at all, now even with scrapes on her knees and dirt on her dress. Her face flushed instantly with embarrassment. But she tried to compose herself, hands clutching her dress, crumpling it slightly. The stinging feeling that came from the wound still remained. Some beads of blood began to gather around the scrape. It looked terrible and, ugly. While she did not bring any clean water to wash it, she had a handkerchief clean enough in her pocket. Pulling it out, she bent down to tie it around the slightly bleeding area. She learned this from her aunt, who was studying at the med school. It was impossible for her aunt to perform any healing magic since she’s a Muggle, but she was so good at so many other means of Muggle medical treatment. Finishing up the knot, she straightened up. “This should be alright for now,” she muttered.
Her face still has the pink hue. Rosaline spoke: “Thank you for asking.” Habitually, she ran her fingers through her hair and found it was truly a mess. She combed through it quickly, yet she missed a dry leaf at the back of her head. She was totally oblivious to the fact and thought she completed the mission perfectly. Shifting her weight from one foot to another, she recalled that the boy had asked another question and she hadn’t answered. She opened her mouth again. “Yes, it’s a book introducing the language of flowers. Good guess.” She smiled gently. “What about yours?” She asked curiously, tilting her head. This topic made her at ease a bit because in this way, they wouldn’t talk about her earlier incident. “Do you want to read it together? I was trying to identify the flowers in this garden, and it was fun. Though I lost the way back to the venue,” she grinned, acting nonchalantly about the fact she was lost. Leafing through her book, she found the chapter she had been reading before. There were some stains on the book too. She now noticed. Her smile faltered, but the curve quickly came back on the corners of her delicate lips. Then she found the page of Iris and showed the content to the boy. “I saw some irises on my way here,” she said cheerfully. The excitement of meeting a new person had replaced her frustration of staining her clothes and book. Looking around, she pointed at the same purple flowers near them. “See, there’s one over there!” Her voice was overjoyed, and the smile was warm like sunshine in the spring.
