For one last time

I'd gone out a final time with Ivory, my ex best friend, before i had gone to hogwarts. She didn't know i was going to hogwarts, we just told her i was going to a boarding school— which wasn't entirely a lie. We wandered around the streets of london, going to the same old shops we used to go to when we were still super close. "So, what boarding school are you going to?"
She said, breaking the awkward silence.

"Oh, uhm. I don't really have a clue you know. My mother just selected it and told me I was going, but she didn't tell me the name." I said, forcing a soft laugh as if what I said was funny.

She didn't reply, but just nodded her head with an awkward smile. Usually, I would tell her anything, everything. If our friendship was like how it was a year ago, I would have told her in a heartbeat. We just kept walking in awkward silence, before I finally spoke. "You will still write to me, won't you?" I asked, moving my gaze from the pavewalk to her face, a hopeful glint in my eyes.

She nodded before saying, "I'll try." But we both knew she wouldn't. I forced myself to move my gaze from her to what was In front of me again, trying not to cry at all, Trying not to seem affected by her words but truly knowing her.

“The stars above Hogwarts always seemed brighter, as though magic itself had reached up and touched the sky.”
