The courtyard had quickly become one of my favourite places at Hogwarts. Compared to the busy corridors, it always felt much more peaceful. Students wandered between classes, chatted with friends on the benches, or simply enjoyed the fresh air before heading back inside. It was one of the few places where I could sit quietly and clear my mind after a busy morning.

With some free time before my next lesson, I decided to take advantage of the nice weather. I stepped out into the courtyard, taking a slow walk along the stone paths. The flowers planted around the edges were in full bloom, adding little splashes of colour against the grey castle walls. Every now and then, a gentle breeze stirred the leaves in the trees overhead, making the courtyard feel even more relaxing.

It was strange to think that I was already in my second year. During my first year, everything had seemed so unfamiliar, but now Hogwarts was slowly beginning to feel like a second home. Even so, there were still corners of the castle and grounds I hadn't properly explored. I wondered if I would ever truly know every hidden passage and secret the castle seemed to hold.

As I wandered through the courtyard, I found an empty bench beneath a tree and sat down for a moment. Resting my bag beside me, I let my eyes wander around the courtyard, watching students come and go while enjoying the peaceful atmosphere. After some time, I took my book out of my bag, opened it to where I had left of and began reading.

OOC notes: Sorry this took forever
Thomas had some downtime between lessons, and though he usually went to sit by a window up in one of the corridors on the fifth floor, it seemed that his spot was taken by someone else. Not that it was officially his spot or anything, just somewhere he enjoyed hanging out, looking out the window into the distance while waiting for his next class.

Instead, he found his legs had taken him to the courtyard all the way next to the entrance. Not his favourite spot in the castle, partly because it was a place where a lot of students played gobstones at, and so the distinctive stench of the liquid within permeated the year. Or at least, that’s the only scent Thomas could focus on whenever he was in the area.

But since he had only an hour to wait, or really less than that because his next class was on the other side of the castle, he supposed he could tolerate the smell. Though, there weren’t many places to sit. Well, no there was the ground but with the amount of gobstone fluids that had been spilled there, Thomas was hoping to find somewhere else to sit.

After looking around for a minute or two, Thomas found he had several options. One was sitting next to fifth years, ones he recognized as trouble, or he could sit on a nearby bench where a girl in his year was currently reading. This being the sensible choice, he made his way towards the bench, sat down and took out his sketchbook, not sure what to draw just yet.
