A New Friend
How does one overcome the fear of social anxiety Is often a question jasmine asks herself. She doesn't like socialising yet she wants to make friends and find her group where she doesn't have to worry about it. She reached the courtyard where she saw many students talking to each other, laughing, smiling, with ease. She grew envious of them, how could they socialize so easily?
Her eyes moved from one group to another. Everyone here had a place, a group. Everyone had fit in so easily. Everyone but her. A girl animatedly waved her hands. Jasmine's eyes widened. "M-me?" she thought. Jasmine tried to manage a small smile as she tried to walk over. Each step felt as if thousands of rocks were on her, making it hard for her to walk over. Her palms started to be really sweaty. she rubbed them against her robe. In her mind, she was rehearsing greeting after greeting after greeting. 'hi,' 'hello', 'hi I'm jasmine', but none of them sounded right.
Jasmine slowed to a stop, only a few feet away now. She opened her mouth, but no words came. Her throat tightened, her tongue refused to move, and all she could manage was another awkward smile. The girl tilted her head which made jasmine even more nervous. "Oh, uh hello. may i help you?" she asked, offering a small awkward smile. "Oh, uhm. I just wanted to introduce myself. I just want to make new friends and well, i thought I'd start off by talking to you, because, well, you looked really kind." Jasmine managed to spit the words out.
The other girl smiled, more kinder and warmer this time. "Ah, i see. Well my name is Honey. Honey blossom." She said, making jasmine smile a form of relief. "My name is Jasmine Brownnn.Whats your house? I'm a ravenclaw." The two of them spoke for a bit more, having full conversations. They got to know each other more and better, and Jasmine got to know that Honey was in Hufflepuff. This, was a happy starter at her new home, Hogwarts.
