The library had become Danielle's favorite place to disappear.

Not too quiet, where people didn't bother her, but never too quiet that the silence would make her uncomfortable. She sat hidden away at one of the tables near the end, surrounded by a mess of books that only made sense to her. After almost an hour, Danielle closed the book in front of her with a gentle tap.

She looked at the clock.
"Geez." She had someplace to be.

Packaging up her things, Danielle stuffed some random sheets into her bag before standing up. She tucked her quill behind her ear, grabbed her bag and left the table without glancing back at the stack of books. Danielle stopped about halfway across the library; frowning. She must have forgotten something.

Checking her bag, Danielle found her quills, parchment, notes and yet another book, but not the one she had been reading. Her face became blank. "You've got to be kidding me."

This is only my second year, and I already lose my books? She turned and started heading back, checking tables along the way. No luck there. But then she saw someone sitting close by.
And even better, she saw her book. In their hands. Danielle slowed.

They weren't just carrying the item either; they were actually looking through it, which meant that they had gotten into it to such an extent that they started examining it. Her eyebrows raised. For a moment, Danielle just looked at them. Then she walked forward and stopped beside the table. But she was pretty, lovely hair, green eyes. A pretty stealer? That's new.

"It is interesting," she said, her eyes moving between the book and the girl in front of her. "Most people pick it up and leave it there again," she said after a brief pause. "You chose to examine it." Danielle held out her hand, her expression being rather unreadable aside from an amused gleam in her eyes.

"This is mine, by the way," she said, pausing as she let the girl return the book. "…You weren't very subtle," she added after receiving the book and glancing at its cover. Then she smirked slightly as she put the book under her arm and gave the girl one suspicious look.

"...Anyway, I am Danielle, and you are?"

Alex had just left the bathroom, where the best and the worst odour in the world seemed to be battling, hanging in the air. She found it suspicious, because usually the girls bathroom smelled like heaven, so that made her even check if she was in the right place. And she was. She left it like there was some kind of hurry. Hurry to enter a place that she missed.

She had to admit, she didn't visit the library for a while. She had that "bad habit" (in Harry's, her brother, words) of studying and laying on her comfy bed. This fact didn't helped anyway in her streak of visits to that huge book-place. At all.

Now that all the types of exams were over for some time, the place that was heading to would be her refuge for some time. Another thing that influenced her to go there was that the... good amount of books that she had in her "to read" checklist were being crossed out faster than she'd expected and she needed to add some to it before there were no more left.

Her bag was quite heavy with more books to return than she should have at the same time, but people still looked at her breathing heavily after the unnecessary rush. It was uncomfortable having half of the library staring at her, but Alex just acted like nothing was happening, brushed her fluffy hair that laid in the back part of her neck with her thin fingers, while walking with no direction in mind.

She found a table with absolutely nobody sitting there, in another words, she found her peaceful spot. An instantaneous wave of comfort passed and stayed inside her, even though the chairs weren't out of this world. Oh, and there was this thick book sitting right in front of her, on the top of the table.

Not that type of thick book that people would imagine in the library of Hogwarts, invaded by information about the history of magic or something like that, but an extremely thick book full of adventures, characters and maybe riddles. A story. It was like the book was there for her, that was exactly what she was searching for. Whoever left it there had good taste.

She couldn't resist the tentation of opening it. After the first page was read, she was already entering a whole new world, so she escaped it before it was impossible. She had to find the librarian to take the book with her or at least reserve it. She stood up. Whilst she looked in all directions, her right thumb flicked through the several pages, but stopped in the middle. Something called her attention, so she sat down again. There was a bookmark there. A gorgeus bookmark.

Before any thought, what appeared was a shadow behind her. "It is interesting," Instead of furious, the voice was calm, maybe curious. That was obviously... well, probably the owner of the book. The girl with good taste. "Most people pick it up and leave it there again, you chose to examine it." Alex thought that the comment didn't made sense. She was still picking it up. She was in the progress. But anyways, we all make mistakes and blah blah blah and she probably didn't think much. At least Alex didn't think much in what she said next.

Stuttering, she explained what happened. Well, she let whoever was controlling her body to explain it, and I have to tell you, the person wasn't talented at all. She ended her mini story with um... yeah, it might be it. But it might not.

Then Alex had time to analyze the girl in question. She mumbled something about being hers. Oh, what a surprise. Gosh, there weren't much girls in Hogwarts like her. The most of the girls in the stereotype of "pretty" were girls that Alex could imagine investing all their money on beauty products. The girl staring at her seemed to be different. At first, she could spot an easy thing that both had in common. The girl was korean for sure. Meanwhile, the girl said something that passed through her ears as empty air. Alex shook her head like she was leaving a daydream, and maybe she was. She might have committed an error by ignoring the girl.

"죄송합니다" "sorry" Alex didn't even hesitate. She programed to whisper it, but it sounded loud. Loud and firm, with an expression that didn't usually live in her face. A serious expression. For a moment, she questioned if she was sure that the girl understood. Her face didn't look like what Alex expected. She guessed that the girl would be good at poker, that was what her father would call a "poker face".

The girl must have ignored her, maybe she was distracted like Alex was. Like Alex was previously, now she couldn't be more focused. "...Anyway, I am Danielle, and you are?"

"Oh, Alex. Eheh. Yep, that's me!" She giggled nervously. That was far too ankward.
