It'd been a good lesson today, mostly focused on the West Equatorial stars—from what he could remember at least. Admittedly, Felix had been a little distracted near the end of it, and he was more than ready to head back to his dorm, put his homework away and sleep (for as long as possible without missing breakfast tomorrow). He'd made it halfway down the steps before he realized that he'd forgotten his book on his desk. Wow, that was just great. Suppose he had to head back now. And climb the stairs again.
Felix hated the stairs sometimes (right now was absolutely one of those times). Like seriously. It was a literal magic school, yet they somehow couldn't invest in an elevator or something? It couldn't be that bad. It wasn't anything truly technological (at least, not in the way electronics were, because those didn't seem to function around here), it couldn't be that hard. He was fairly certain there were other students that shared the sentiment. Perhaps they'd start a petition.
After another couple of minutes, he successfully made his way back up the stairs and into the classroom. Quickly, he grabbed his book (still, predictably, in the place he'd left it), and then headed for the door again. It was at this point that he paused to look around again.
Most of the class was gone already. It always seemed rather fast to him, but he guessed that everybody just had their own things to do. A lot of the students in his class just skedaddled as soon as possible after the lecture was over, unless they had questions for the professor or work to hand in.
Really, there was no harm in hanging back and looking around some more, was there?
He was already up in the tower, the stars looked amazing tonight, and besides, it wasn't even that late yet, was it? It wasn't curfew, at least (it was, in fact, past curfew. Felix just chose to ignore it), and that was the only 'late' that mattered by this time of night. He could stay longer, surely. It'd be fun.
And so, Felix's decision was quite easily made. Sure, he'd been planning to head back to his dorm and go to bed early tonight (he'd been up late yesterday, and really didn't intend to do that again), but staying here would be nicer, would it not?
Still not paying much attention, he wandered over to the shelves and started looking to see if there was anything worth reading.

After finishing my homework, I didn't want to head back to my common room immediately, so I decided to take a small detour. The castle had become more familiar over the past year, but there were still a lot of places I hadn't spent much time exploring. Most of the students I passed were talking with eachother or heading back to their common rooms. After walking for a while, I ended up at the bottom of the Astronomy Tower.
As I climbed the long staircase, I wondered if the view at the top would really be worth it. I heard people say it was one of the best places in the castle to look over the grounds, especially after sunset. Every now and then I glanced through the small windows in the tower, catching a glimpse of the grounds.
When I reached the top, I slowed down a bit. It was much quieter here than in the rest of the castle. One of the classroom doors was still open, making me glance inside out of curiosity. The room was pretty much empty, except for one student. He stood by one of the bookshelves, looking through the books as if he was searching for something.
I hesitated for a moment before knocking on the open door. "Sorry," I said with a small smile. "I wasn't trying to interrupt. I just noticed the door was still open and got curious."

While it was a startle when the person walked in, and he did have to stop himself from jumping, it wasn't exactly unexpected. The astronomy tower was quite the popular hangout for students. Students of all years and relations. He'd run into others up here more often than not, but maybe he was just bad at picking times, and the tower was just that open.WC: 351

Felix figured it was for the view from the top that attracted people, but, then again, it could also just be the bean bag chairs and the general intrigue of the place.
No matter what is what that brought the other student here, Felix quickly turned to greet her. He hadn't been having much luck with the shelves anyway.
She had dark blond hair and blue eyes. From where he was, he'd assume she was a few inches shorter than him, but he couldn't tell very well when he wasn't actually next to her.
He shrugged. "Yeah, it's no problem," wasn't like he'd been doing anything urgent. "And what're you doing up here? Curiosity's one thing, but that's a lot of stairs for just a simple curiosity."
Well, there was another reason people check out the tower. Add that to the list—view, bean bag chairs, curiosity (bean bag chairs won, in his opinion at least). Curiosity, that was probably one of the more common ones, now he thought about it. And really, it could cover most of the other points as well. Huh.
"So... I haven't seen you around much. What's your name? What year are you?" He was guessing first, but he could be wrong. Felix figured that if she was going to be here for now, he might as well talk. As he did, he went back to skimming the bookshelf. Hopefully she didn't mind that, he was just multi-tasking a little, and he didn't need to look at her to listen.
There'd be something interesting here eventually, though a lot of the books that truly interested him (and were at a level he cared to read right now) he'd already read previously.

I haven't seen you around much. What's your name? What year are you?" He asked and turned back to I think searching for something on the bookshelf.
I glanced around the classroom before looking back at him. I hadn’t really thought about what I was going to do once I reached the top, other than looking around. “I was mostly just curious I guess,” I admitted. “I have been here for a year, but still haven’t explored much outside of the classrooms. I also heard that the view up here is beautiful so I just thought I’d see if it’s really that beautiful.” I looked back toward the staircase I just climbed and laughed quietly. “Now that you mention it, there are indeed a lot of stairs.”
“Oh and I’m Lize by the way, Lize Nieuwhof. I’m a second year.” I walked further into the classroom and glanced toward the windows. From up here, the grounds looked completely different than how they did from my dorm. I turned back to him. He was right, I don’t think we’ve seen eachother before. I glanced at the bookshelf again, wondering what he could be looking for. “Are you looking for something specific?” I asked while taking a few steps closer.

"Yeah, it's nice to get a look around, outside of just where you need to be for lessons. Or, at least, outside of the time you need to be there. It's a magic school, but even then, if you only go where you have to, you'll get bored fast" he looked over at the windows again. "And the tower is certainly a good choice for some boredom-busting" WC: 343

Felix had been pretty curious when he got to Hogwarts as well. Though there were still places he hadn't looked through, he'd done a decent bit of walking. The forest was his favourite, the astronomy tower a close second. Even the dungeons could be interesting at times, if a little spooky at night (he preferred the towers for that reason. Lumos could only do so much, so having windows was a definite perk).
At her question, he shook his head. "Nah, I'm just browsing and seeing if anything shows up. Looked through here before, so more of double check than anything" he gave up on that search. Didn't seem like he'd get much reading in tonight anyway, and it was good to meet more students. Even if he didn't have classes with them, he'd run into them sometime. Knowing names and basic facts could come in handy.
"Do you like stars?" he asked. "I mean, I do, but it's more a casual preference in class than anything" a little more than that, nowadays, but he was still far from the most informed on the topic yet. Still had to do some more researching. "It's nice to have at least a couple more enjoyable classes, so if you can tie them into your interests from before, it works out quite nicely."
He had definitely done a bit of cherry-picking when it came to his favourite classes, but he was content that way. He had pretty much stuck with his initial likes, plus a few that he didn't enjoy per ce, but he found the work easy enough.
"Oh, and nice to meet you, Lize. My name's Felix. Third year."
