Journey To Hogwarts

Rain was quite excited, he’d found someone who he’d seemed to get along well with and maybe they’d be able to strike a long friendship at school. Who knows, maybe we could even visit each other over the summer.
Some hours later Rain heard the snack trolley rolling outside the cabin. That’s when the Trolley Wix knocked at the door asking if they wanted any snacks. Rain turned to face Morgan and asked, “Did you want anything from the trolley? It’ll be on me, my parents gave me some money for it already. I’ll just get some common favorites”.
With that Rain went up to the trolley and ordered some Chocolate Frogs, Peppermint Toads, a couple Cauldron cakes, and a few Sugar Quills. “I know lots of people like Bertie Botts’ Every Flavor Beans but I don’t like surprises in my food. I’d much rather know what I’m eating upfront. You can pick from whatever you like, I got quite a bit”, Rain told Morgan with a small smile. Finally turning to pick up a Cauldron Cake, his favorite.
===A Couple Hours Later===
It had been a couple more hours of riding on the train with Rain eating a couple more snacks and getting more reading in. As he finished off his page he looked out the window and noticed that they were getting pretty close to the station. Rain turned to Morgan and spoke, “Oh, we should get our school robes on, we’re getting awfully close to the school. We do t want to be the only ones not in uniform. My mama always says you should make a great first impression and clothes are an important part of that”.
After speaking Rain reached to pull his lightweight trunk down and pulled out his pressed uniform robe. Checking it over for wrinkles and finding none he pulled them over his regular clothes. He checked his boots to make sure they hadn’t been scuffed and then pulled out his compact from his trunk and made sure there were no hairs out of place. Absolute perfection. Mama would be proud.
Seeing that he was all put together Rain turned to Morgan again, “We should make sure we get a boat together. Wouldn’t that be so fun? I mean, only if you wanted to”. Rain really hoped he wanted to."Inner stillness is the key to outer strength."

Journey To Hogwarts
Throughout the hours that they rode the train, Morgan spent most of the time looking out the window, watching the scenery go by and daydreaming a bit while Rain read some. He had tried a few of the sweets Rain had very kindly bought, to which at the time Morgan had thanked him and would have to remember to do something to pay him back for at some time. Perhaps providing him with a few muggle history books to read would suffice in the future should he be able to have his father possibly send him a few. They were certainly interesting, he would have to remember to get a peppermint toad for his sister Mari in the future, she had always liked new sweets and would have found them delightful.
Daydreaming, Morgan eventually heard Rain say that they were getting closer to the school so they should probably get their robes on. Snapping back to reality, he watched Rain get his own trunk down with ease, Morgan wondering if the boy was a lot stronger than he looked. Following suit, with a deep breath, the green-eyed boy heaved his trunk down from where it was, taking care not to completely fall backwards, before digging through all his stuff to find his robes.
Taking off his jacket and putting it in his trunk, he put on the robes and did his best to straighten himself as he noticed Rain carefully checking over his own appearance. He did his best to try and fix his messy hair but he wasn't doing much and eventually gave up.
Rain turned to him and mentioned that they should get a boat together which made Morgan pause for a moment as he tried to remember why they would need a boat. That's when he vaguely remembered reading about the Great Lake that surrounded Hogwarts and did vaguely recall something about new students crossing it in boats although he couldn't recall much. "Right, I vaguely do remember reading something about boats although I suppose I had forgotten about it. Of course, we definitely should try to be in a boat together, I would much rather be in a boat with someone I at least know the name of," he responded, nodding his head slightly towards Rain. It's definitely more preferable than having to be in a boat with someone I don't know at all.
Thinking of something, he added, "Oh and here, before we have to head out and while I have my trunk here," he dug through his trunk a bit and found an older book that Mari had sent with him, "Here's something to um... say thanks for the sweets. It's technically my sister's so I probably will have to get it back from you but uh it's fine." He held the book carefully out to Rain, the cover slightly worn but titled The Complete Fairy Tales and Stories in somewhat worn lettering. The book was a way for him to repay Rain but also, hopefully, another definite excuse for them to have to talk to each other again at school once they were sorted or whatever might happen.
The station was pretty well in view now, and Morgan felt the train shift slightly, slowing down to fully stop, signally that it was just about time for the two to get off the train.

Before the train came to a stop Morgan handed Rain a book: The Complete Fairy Tales and Stories. I've never seen this book before. I guess the muggles wouldn’t have Beedle the Bard. Maybe that’s one of the books I can ask Mama and Pa for. Glancing up from the book Rain thanked Morgan, “Thank you. I’ll be sure to get it back to you in a timely manner. I’ll ask my parents use a copying spell on the books they spend so you can keep them. Or maybe they’ll just send new copies”. Rain’s parents were constantly buying new children’s stories. His brother had gotten to that age where the books were fun to throw around instead of being fun to read. They’d probably have some extra or already be on the way to buy more.
After Rain spoke he felt the train pull into the station and stop. Immediately more nerves began to bubble up in Rain’s stomach. This was it, the start of a new journey. Rain had turned to the window to see the station get closer but glanced back toward Morgan as the train stopped and felt a bit calmer. I’ve somewhat got a friend. And we’ve agreed to talk more. I’m determined to make this school year go right. It will be okay.
“Well, this is it. Hopefully our sorting goes well. As long as we don’t end up cursed, right”, Rain said jokingly. Let this final journey begin."Inner stillness is the key to outer strength."
