Crossfire PV Unofficial duel

Paul evaded MIka's Incendio, this time around, not turning to look at where the spell went. He was less startled than when he was attacked before. It was his first time in a non-capture the flag duel, after all. He quickly shot a glance to Jameson and Fawkes. She managed to avoid his Obscuro... "Whew!" Did Paul pretend to wipe an imaginary sweat drop off his forehead.

He was not used to this direct combat and though he wasn't sure he'd ever be, the boy was kinda getting a grip of this.

And all it took, was a successfully casted spell. Thought the down-to-earth part of his mind. The boy could not agree more.

"So it’s luck that your aim is terrible then or is it just that your terrible Turner"

"Pride, Jameson," Paul grimaced, pausing dramatically. "Is what goes before a fall." His words preceded his actions. Then, he pointed his wand at the opposing pair, and casted another charm. Nebulus this time. He didn't really know much about it, but he witnessed an older boy using it in the past and was amazed.

Fog over the people the charm was casted at was just... perfect. As if cut right out of a cartoon series.

When it worked, moreover, he could only widen his eyes in surprise, his chin falling down and nearly hitting the ground. "I-I... holy moly! Yes!" Paul called, as he threw a fist up into the air in a celebratory gesture.

His sight then went to Jameson, who was talking rubbish to him, and grimaced again. "Ha! Why don't ya shut up and go back to playing hide and seek, Jameson! It's the one thing you'te good at anyway!" There was no doubt he was referring to the fact that the two of them were surrounded by fog.

He then ran backwards, to stand by @Fawkes Chaos' side, offering the girl a low five. "Hey... we did it! Thanks, las... ya know what for!" The boy grinned at her, winking, as he lowered his voice when speaking.

The Gryffindor got ready to begin with yet another round, getting his wand ready.

I had to audibly groan. Come on, how hard can duelling be? I swear it was easier last year. I swear it. And I was really trying to be nice, but Paul's incessant verbal attacks... come on, I was starting to like him since the Castelobruxo event. He was nicer before summer.

"Oh, please!" I shouted, offended, at my wand. I know I didn't pick you up all summer, but you can't throw a tantrum right now!

That's when a new spell hit us. In a second, we got surrounded by a Nebula (Spell I only knew by theory and, since now, in practice) sent by... Exactly! Paul. Seriously, what is his problem?

"Ha! Why don't ya shut up and go back to playing hide and seek, Jameson! It's the one thing you'te good at anyway!"

Oh... yeah, no. I may not entirely like Nick, and I know better than anyone that no one can judge a book by its cover but A. I had heard things and B. Gotta admit it, Jameson had a pretty abd cover that made it difficult not to judge him by. But one thing was thinking about it, the other one was directly attacking him because of it.

I let out a deep, quiet sigh before lifting my head up again.

"Turner..." I adverted him as I slowly turned my head towards Nick. The fog helped me for them not to notice. I nodded at him.

If the Plan 1 didn't work, we'd have to hop on to plan 3. And hope it works this time.

Fuck that’s the first thing that came to a Nick’s mind as both his and Mikaela’s spells missed holy shit was all Nick though as Paul ‘bloody’ Turner spell hit him the fog charm how does he even know that your supposed to learn to in 4th year I’m going to bloody kill him Then Turner made a comment about pride don’t give yourself a bigger ego than you already bloody have Turner he then threw a fist up in the air TURNER DON’T GET TO CONTENT THEN YOU FAIL then Paul Bloody Turner made a comment about playing hide and seek which Nick thought Why am I not surprised that it’s bloody Turner who goes and jibes at being surrounded by fog TURNER DON’T GET TO COCKY YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT WILL HAPPEN ALSO DO EVER SHUT UP Nick but his lip as prepared to shoot his spell and get revenge on that Turner boy TURNER IS IT A REQUIREMENT FOR GRYFFINDORS TO BE BLOODY ANNOYING OR IS IT JUST YOU he shouted. It was a good thing she had made sure to be paying attention to her opponents as she went to pick up her wand. She grabbed her wand and immediately ducked and rolled out of the way. She stood back up and held her wand up ready to attack at any moment.

She noticed Paul had successfully casted Nebulus. Fawkes grinned widely at that. She knew better than anyone that knowing higher year spells was a great advantage in a match like this. It was part of the reason she had learned Impedimenta. It was a higher year spell and it served her very well during these duels. Nice one Paul! Fawkes grinned at her teammate before focusing back on her opponents head held high. She may have lost her wand earlier but now she had it back with her... She was going to make them regret messing with her.

Now while she was all up for duels and was a great sport about it what she couldn't handle was trash talk. The sport was meant to be competitive in the fun way. But when things became like this.... She knew she couldn't stay quiet. Well maybe you should care about it being a new wand Jameson! She called out back, the surname dry in her mouth. She never liked referring to people by their surnames but it seemed like at times like this she had to. She got ready to cast her next spell.

Paul was watching the foggy mess he made, trying to see what happened to his Incendio Duo. He could barely see anything. Sending a spell somewhere you couldn't really see was, from Paul's view, like pushing a needle into a pincushion, which was, perhaps, a relaxing activity under normal circumstances, in a duel though, it wasn't quite as great. Maybe, @Nick Jameson was right. Nebulus wasn't such a good idea... well, what's done is done. No point in crying over spilled milk.

Then though, Paul watched as Mika's Metelojinx started creating a storm above his and @Fawkes Chaos' heads. He knew he should be angry or worried for the least. But he wasn't. He froze on the spot, staring up in awe. "Whoa..." Was all the boy could come up with. Once again, he was reminded why he loved magic. Once again, was he a witness to a spectacular view and once again, could he not take his eyes off.

How on earth did Metelojinx work? The poor boy's curiousness and genuine interest in weather and all things scientific, brought him to the verge of asking McCoire.
"Hm... cool one, Hen-" Sadly, he didn't manage to pronounce the rest of @Mikaela Hendricks' name.

There came a bloody lightning and struck him. Because there's literally one to three million chance that a person will EVER get struck by a bloody lightning. Numbers that Paul remembered immediately after they were presented as a fun fact by the teacher of Physics at his Muggle school. Of course, the three million were significantly reduced with his first Astronomy lesson of second year at Hogwarts, but still!

Paul felt an intense electric shock. The sensation was searing and he felt his blood burning in even the smallest part of his body, from the tips of his toes, to the top of his head. He would swear he felt it in his hair and nails too, how they electrified, as if you touched Van de Graaff's generator with both hands, at the moment of high charge. He felt a massive physical blow, which wasn't like anything he had experienced before.

He started shaking (or was it buzzing) at some point, his body unable to cope with the amount of wild energy. When the lightning disappeared, Paul fell to the ground. Almost as if the lightning was the one thing that held him stood. His crutch. Unpredictable, painful.

He was lying on the ground for an amount of minutes. He was most probably unconscious for some time, because the very last thing that he remembered, was Nick's Recanto. Whether it worked or not, Paul had no idea.

Then though, he felt an urge to breathe in deeply, so he did. He also started violently coughing, so he rather sat up. His eyes were wide. His brain was numb first, as soon as he saw Fawkes though, the memories of what just happened started reappearing slowly. Paul looked around the place, seeing it was Duelling club.

"B-bloody hell!" Did he force out after a while of sitting, frowning, trying to remember. "Uh... what the heck?! Was I just... struck by a bloody lightning?!" Did the boy ask, as he started to get back onto his feet. While doing so, his head spinned at first, but that wasn't something he'd not be able to handle. Be glad that you survived! Warned the at times cynical part of his mind. Another thing he noticed when getting up onto his feet, was a strange, pink, tattoo-like painting on his right forearm, which was the only part of his arm visible, under his elbow-long, short-sleeved T-shirt.

"And what on earth is this?" Huffed the boy, ask he was examining his forearm. He ran his fingers over the painting, to find out that it didn't hurt or sting. It was just... present, just like its owner in this bloody massacre duel. The picture was... well, extensive. It covered his whole forearm, and it looked like... tree branches... lots of them, all intertwinned. He frowned in suspicion, but shook his head in the end, realizing that another round would be here soon.

Holding his wand with a shaking hand, he did his best to grasp it more firmly...

And finally, the light in the end of the tunnel. Or better said, the strike in the end of the storm. Somehow, I managed to throw a weather-changing spell, unsure if it'd work.

It did. It worked, and pretty well, if I'm being honest. The clouds formed over Fawkes and Paul and I used their distraction to sense what kind of magic lingered in the air. Like the one of the spell I just sent and...

Fuck. I loved to the right just in time for an Incendio Duo, probably sent by a very confused and hazy Paul, to barely brush my skin. Huh. Who'd say they'd be affected by their own spell, after all?

And one second later, a strike hit Paul. Shit. I-I didn't mean to- damn, I just wanted to scare them! Confuse them, as much! I never meant to try and kill Paul!

The seconds passed and he still didn't move.

"Shit- Paul, please-" I had to hold myself back before reaching out to him and just when the moderator was about to check on him, he stood up.

With a very ugly scar now, but alive. I let out a sigh of relief. Ok, could've been worse. He could be dead.

When Nick had cleared the fog he saw Turner on the ground Bloody Hell TURNER ARE YOU ALRIGHT THAT LOOKS LIKE YOU GOT HIT BLOODY HARD I guess that means that Hendricks Meteolojinx worked as he was thinking this a wave of heat just missed his hear as Chais’s spell some sort of Incendio variant skimmed his hair he jumped to the side worried that she would shoot another spell at him once he was certain he was safe he quietly said jokingly said to Mikaela maybe don’t try and kill him next time he looked at Turner and saw an ugly scar on his arm Turner are you sure you do need that looked at it does not look good no point worrying I would hope that Turner has common sense to say if he needs to leave if it get’s that bad if your burn hurts too much and you forfeit and need to leave I volunteer to leave to make it equal unless stop worrying just concentrate on destroying them Nick stopped talking as he stabilised him sled and prepared to cast his spell well here goes nothing as he thought this he said the spell hoping it would succeed

Fawkes fired off the incendio duo, the spell much more precise than the first time she used it in a duel and singed the hair of her moderator. Granted, she still missed the spell but it was close! She looked up and saw the formation of clouds. The metelojinx. Being an Astronomy intern and an avid researcher of the subject, of course she knew what is was. And truth be told, she wasn't that worried. The spell wasn't her biggest worry right now anyways.

Oh how wrong she was. It happened before she could react. Paul was struck by the lightning. She didn't act right away, after all she had witnessed the spell in action before and it hadn't really been that bad. But that was her biggest mistake. Underestimating the spell's power in the hands of someone stronger. Her eyes widened as she saw the mark the lightning had left behind. Her eyes snapped up towards her roommate with a quiet fury. Mika what the hell- she began before she saw the look on the other girl's face. Her eyes softened. She could tell Mikaela didn't mean it.

She glanced back up at the clouds. This was the first time she had seen how strong the spell could be. Not even with her research had she come across the spell doing this. She took a breathe and raised her wand.
