Roleplaying as Ginyami Midorimori from Mahoutokoro
"English | Japanese"
Place: The extensive outdoor gardens surrounding the school of Mahoutokoro
Date: Thursday, March 19, 2026
Time: Afternoon
Spring had come upon them and the sakura trees were in full bloom. It was bittersweet, reminding Ginyami more and more that his graduation from Mahoutokoro was getting closer and closer. He had his family's business to run - the chain of shops known as Mahou no Midorimori or 'Magic of the Green Forest' in English.

Ever since he had managed to win a bet with his parents and taken over the business early, allowing more than just purebloods to do purchase and sell with them, business had been moving. However, Ginyami wanted to do more than simply oversee a number of plant shops that were already thriving without his help. He was thinking of opening a hiring agency to help people who weren't sure what they wanted to do in life as well as employers looking for employees.

Despite all these future plans, Ginyami also knew he would desperately miss his wonderful school days once they were gone. He was strangely beginning to miss them already as he reached the end of his seventh year. Maybe it was the appearance of the sakura blossoms all over the school campus and the reminder they brought that beauty could be ephemeral and fleeting, but everything seemed to have a melancholy feel to the narrow-eyed student as he took in his surroundings while performing his duties for the Gardening Club. It would be his last spring to experience at Mahoutokoro, after all.

───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
As a first-year student of Mahoutokoro, everything at school was familiar enough for him. He had studied here for years. Yet Hayato still loved to explore the garden alone. The Seasons changed, the plants grew, and flowers bloomed. The variation of each year was different. That was why he loved the garden so much. Sometimes, it was the little changes, another time it was the grand blossom, just like today.

Walking in the garden, Hayato wore his school robe. Proudly, the navy blue color shone under the sunshine. He had been working hard for all the tests and homework. His mother didn’t give him that much pressure, but he wanted to prove himself. To whom? Maybe to his father, who hadn’t shown up for a while. He wondered what his father was doing right now. Their relationship seemed to only exist during the holidays when his father finally remembered them, himself and Hizuki.

A sakura petal floated down to his face, which made him stop overthinking. Hayato picked it up and observed it. Soft with a faint floral fragrance, it seemed like a common variety. His mother was a Herbologist who maintained a mountain of plants. She always wanted him to learn more about this subject but he hadn’t picked up much knowledge. He preferred to surf.

As he strolled, he noticed a student who looked much older than him was tending the garden. Hayato supposed the student would know what variety these sakura trees were. Admittedly, he wasn't the one with the hobby of chatting with strangers.Yet at this moment, curiosity won over. Hayato tidied his collar - though it was already in a perfect shape - and walked toward the older student. “Hello. Sorry to bother you. I’m just wondering if you happened to know what kind of sakura we have in the garden?” Hayato spoke in a polite manner and raised his hand to show the one sakura petal to the student. Then he realized he hadn’t introduced himself, “By the way, my name is Hayato Ichiyagi. My apologies that I didn’t mention this first.” With a gentle smile on his face, he waited for this upperclassman’s response.

At the voice that called out to him, Ginyami raised his head to look up, surprised to see a younger underclassman in navy blue robes. "Hello. You're not bothering me at all," he greeted with a pleasant smile. When he heard what the young man had spoken up for, he realized why he must have been a navy-robed student like himself. Inquisitive minds often asked intelligent questions and ended up learning a great deal more than their less-informed peers.

Upon hearing Hayato's introduction, Ginyami bowed and did the same. He was admittedly impressed with the other student's impeccable manners and immaculate presentation of himself, particularly when he seemed so young. "It's good to meet you, Ichiyagi-san. My name is Ginyami Midorimori, but please feel free to simply call me 'Yami'. I know my names can be more than a mouthful and I much prefer to be on friendly, familiar terms with whomever is comfortable enough with it."

He then turned back to the cherry blossom petal that Hayato had held up to show him, leaning over to examine it more closely. "Hmm...the most common variety, as I'm sure you must know, is Somei Yoshino. However, seeing as they tend to start blooming in late March instead of mid-March and their petals tend to be white, I wonder if the variety you're asking about is something else."

Going over to the nearest cherry blossom tree, Ginyami reached out to catch a petal of his own as it slowly fluttered down from above. "These petals seem to be more pink than white. That, combined with the fact that Yamazakura is known to grow in mountainous regions like this one, I'd say it's likely to be Yamazakura. I can double-check if you'd like, though." Still smiling, he gestured back from where he had come to a place that he had stowed his belongings while he had been gardening. Leaning against his bag was a thick book on Herbology.

"If I may be so bold...do you have a particular interest in cherry blossom varieties, Ichiyagi-san?"
