Lily had come earlier than usual to the top of the Astronomy Tower. It wasn't just because she was excited for the class, but because being here always felt a bit closer to home. She could see several constellations lining the sky. She remembered their names. There was Hercules, Sagittarius, and so many others.
Her grandfather had taught her about them. He had always been interested in the stars above and the stories they held. She loved those moments she used to spend with him, the times he told her different stories. Sadly, he died just before she came to Hogwarts. Remembering him, Lily choked back a sob. She always got a bit emotional remembering him, and looking at the stars, she couldn't think of anything but him.
She let out a deep sigh; she didn't want her thoughts to trouble her throughout the class. She had enough trouble in other classes for now, among other things. She couldn't believe she was already knee-deep in trouble, what with the detention over the food war and the prank they were planning to pull on one of her friends' sisters. She couldn't wait, though, and this was new for her.
Suddenly, she bumped into someone, specifically a girl who looked as if she were in Gryffindor. "Sorry, wasn't looking carefully," she apologized.

Flame walked into the Astronomy tower. It was a bit before class but that didn't bother Flame. She liked to come up to the tower an dstare at the stars. It was peaceful, and she rarely saw other students up here other than during classes. Flame loved the Astronomy tower because she could see the stars.
When she was younger her mother used to always take her outside at night. Amber Afterglow, Flames mother, had loved the stars. She would always go outside late at night and just lay there staring at the stars. A lot of the time Flame would go with her and whrn they were laying there staring up at the sky, Her mother wold always say something about the stars.
Flame remembered one night when she was 6 where her mom had taken her outside and they had layed there, staring at the sky. Her mother had told her "When life gets to overwhelming, Just look up at the night sky and lose yourself for awhile."
That was one of the main reasons Flame liked to visit the astronomy tower. Flame was so lost in thought that she bumped into someone. She shook her head and looked to see who she bumped into. It was a Hufflepuff girl. Flame had seen her around the halls before. What was her name? Layla? No that wasn't right.
Flame was suprised to see someone else up here this early. The girl in front of her apologized. "No it was my fault." Flame said, letting a smile slip onto her face. "I wasn't being careful cause no one else is normally up here this early."
Someone told me I run like a girl. I said that if they ran faster they could to.

"No it was my fault." The girl replied.
Lily looked at her. The girl looked familiar; she must have been in one or two of her classes... Oh yeah, she was in Transfiguration as far as she knew. Perhaps they had met; she didn't know.
She shook her thoughts away. The girl was still speaking to her. "I wasn't being careful cause no one else is normally up here this early." She said, continuing, with a slight smile on her face.
The last part was true. Students hardly ever came up, especially this early on nights. Even Lily would usually have preferred to stay in her dorm rather than in the chilly winds of the night. But today, today was different. She needed a bit of peace, even if it was just for some time. She was, still, a bit overwhelmed with what was going on at home.
"What are you doing up here this early, though?" She asked the girl.
While waiting for her response, Lily began to take note of the girl. She was tall and, to Lily, seemed a bit tan. That showed that she must be into athletics. She was cute, what with the two braids down her side.
She looked up again, the stars blinking at them. "The stars are pretty, aren't they?"
