How to get a book, Tome 1 PV Falentra Black

That day Angus took the everyday routine without any problems: he miraculously wasn't late to all his lessons, fell off his broom, failed one assignment, and got an E from another, he did his homework for the next day, and then in the library he got a weekly reprimand from the librarian ; over the last years, they both got used to the fact that he kept overdue books as long as possible, and she kept shouting at him because of that. Life was beautiful.

After a short battle with a librarian, the Gryffindor walked away to the bookshelves filled with the most interesting volumes that he ever read and chose one of them. Angus has almost finished it, but he still couldn't get her out of the library because of his long list of overdue books. Being a lover of literature required sacrifices. He sat down at one of the desks in the library, as far away as possible from the rest of the students, he wanted to finish this book so he could start another volume, which another student recently returned, and someone else could borrow it any minute. There is nothing more annoying than other people talking when you try to read.

Although Angus had been studying for a few years at Hogwarts, he still felt excited about reading about the charms that not so long ago were only fairy tales for children. Gryffindor almost absorbed the last pages of the book. He closed it and quickly moved towards the shelves, searching for the second tome. The boy remembered seeing it recently at the far end of the library. He got there quite fast. Running his finger along the spines of the volumes searching for his book, he pulled out some additional titles that looked interesting. He also put down what he had already read. Angus reached the place where the second volume of "Jinxes for Jinxed" should be, but he only found an empty space there. The Gryffindor looked around at the nearby desks, hoping that some student browsed it and then left there.

He found it! In the hands of some Slytherin. She didn’t put it on the desk, so he could precisely see that the girl was holding his book. The Gryffindor stood there staring at them in despair. He didn't care if the student noticed his unusual behaviour. Helpless, he walked away, but suddenly the most idiotic idea in the whole world came to him. If Angus distracts the girl's attention for a moment, he could easily take the book. The plan was quite easy: he just had to make a loud sound that would alert the closest students. And probably a librarian, but that was the risk that he had to take. Gryffindor thought about overturning the bookshelf, but the possibility that the books would suffer made him resign from this idea. Falling over several desks caused fewer problems and was easier to do. Angus quickly started his plan in the place where the Slytherin could reach the fastest. The desks made a louder sound than he had expected and he had already heard the upcoming students. The boy took the longer route and then headed toward where the Slytherin should have left his book if his diversion was successful.

The book lay on the desk, Angus quickly put it in the bag and left at the far end of the library. Now, an unhappy Slytherin and/or an angry librarian were looking for him. At least he had a good book with him.

Ah yes. The Library. A place of letting the curious mind of children run wild; letting them gather as much knowledge as possible and just enjoying the escape of reality. Okay, well maybe that last part was just something that Falentra craved the most.
The sound of the fire crackling and the rain lightly bouncing against the windows were the times of which Falentra missed dearly. That was how it used to be every evening here. Nowadays, there were always big groups that ventured in and sat chatting among themselves, quietly, but not quite enough for Falentras liking. She missed the days where there weren't many students that wandered through the aisles that held towers of books.

Tonight seemed a little busier than normal, so Falentra planned on making it a quick visit and reading in her dorm instead. She wandered through a few aisles, skim reading through a few larger books before putting them back neatly, as well as readjusting those along the way that were clearly just thrown back in there from students that didn't have respect for them. Maybe it was just her and that she was showing early since becoming a librarian. The thought would always make her chuckle to herself, although tonight that wasn't the case. She just wanted to grab the stuff she wanted without any trouble, but of course, things never go the way as planned. It seemed there was a boy that had been hovering around nearby, obviously not secretively, but it wasn't something she was going to think too much into, not unless he proceeded to get closer to her.
In the meantime, she wandered over to a free table in the near corner, one that wasn't in use by any students. Her bag swung around her shoulder and planted itself on the table in front of her, allowing her to store away some books that she had in her grasp originally. Since the area she was in hadn't many students near and that boy she last saw seemed to have disappeared from her view, she felt comfortable enough to leave her stuff alone for a moment whilst she wandered to a bookcase next to her. Her back faced her belongs whilst she searched with ease- it was obvious that she was used to doing this and had confidence in knowing where to find what by now.

It hadn't even been a minute since she left her belongings before she heard some tables scrapping across the floor and shuffling going on behind her. She knew instantly what it was but she hoped it wasn't that boy that had been following her. She turned quickly on her heels, now facing forward with a glare that clearly held anger, uncontrollable anger that she was soon about to show.
''Oi!'' She didn't shout but spoke loud enough to let the boy know she was pissed and that she had caught him in the act. She didn't move from her position but her hand had raised, her wand pointing in his direction.
''Don't you know its wrong to steal?'' It was a question she wasn't planning on giving him time to respond to. ''Get off my stuff, or I'll have to make you.'' Her wand lowered to her book that he had a hold of, clearly showing that she was willing to use magic against him if she had to. A few seconds past, not nearly long enough to give the poor boy enough to respond, or even put down her book that he most obviously wanted to keep to himself. But he needed to learn, and her version of teaching him a lesson was far from the right one.
The movement in her hand was quick and swift showing a mixture of confidence and anger. ''Expelliarmus!'' Whilst saying the incantation clearly, a spark left the tip of her wand, making it's way rapidly towards him and her book, causing it to fly out from his grasp.

Correction: the Slytherin wasn't unhappy but really pissed, what made his situation a little difficult and prevented him from reading in peace, only with slight remorse.

His trick didn't succeed and because Angus was careless and stupid, he didn't even notice that he had failed. He left the ”crime scene” as quickly as possible, so he can sit in a hidden place and start reading the stolen book. '' Don't you know its wrong to steal?'' he heard the girl's voice behind him, she had to follow him for some time. She sounded angry. He turned around. The Gryffindor obviously knew that theft wasn't right. But he also knew what his priorities were, even though they were sorted incorrectly. He wanted to answer, but the Slytherin didn't give him a chance. ''Get off my stuff, or I'll have to make you.'' The girl was really mad, so she pulled out her wand and before Angus could protest or pull out his wand, she disarmed him. The book flew out of his hands and landed loudly on the floor. The Slytherin approached it dangerously quickly. "Ten points for Slytherin for perfectly cast expelliarmus and minus ten for attacking an innocent student. Well, almost innocent, but to disarm me right away?" In such moments he was always had gallows humour. The boy knew that he should apologize to the girl, but he really didn't want to return the book, so he wasn't in the mood.

Suddenly another idea came to Angus’ mind, or rather, he realized the consequences of his stupid plan. Someone unknown to the librarian just fell over several desks. Someone just shouted "Expelliarmus!". The book has fallen loudly on the floor, which was one of the worst sins here. The librarian certainly isn't happy, and she's looking for the perpetrator or perpetrators of this whole mess, who, if she finds him at best case scenario, will end up with some terrible detention like cleaning out the bedpans in the hospital wing without magic. Unfortunately, Angus was one of the perpetrators. Luckily, the other one was that girl. If the librarian somehow found out that it’s one of them, they had to run away quickly. The boy looked around, but he didn't spot her anywhere, which meant he still had time. He quickly picked up the book and, with the look of unhappiness, handed it to the Slytherin. Angus knew this made his plan completely meaningless, but he didn't want to be torn to pieces by a librarian who wanted and probably could do it.

"Here you go. Your book. If I were you, I'd take it and then hide somewhere far away from... “Angus paused. The librarian walked straight towards them.

Angus seemed quick with his choice of words, and Falentra couldn't help but like it. He had balls, she gave him that. Most of the time in cases like these, students would completely ignore the fact that she was cruel towards them and would hurry away in a heartbeat, but not him. Why? It annoyed her. Not knowing the answers she demanded to herself frustrated her, although it wouldn't seem that way if one was to look at her. Her stare was cold towards Angus, and blank. Expressionless.
She couldn't respond anyway, for she was too busy trying to read the number of facial expressions he seemed to be showing. Was it nerves that were taking over him, or the adrenaline from the miniature chaos they had formed. Either way, the Slytherin was loving it and couldn't help but form a small smile.
'' I'm guessing you 'aven't gotten yourself into any trouble before, 'ave you? '' Her choice of speech had slackened and become somewhat lazy. The small chase on the boy had caught up for her. She was defiantly unfit..very unfit.
This time, she gave the boy a chance to reply whilst her hands gripped themself on her book, holding onto it in a possessive manner before sliding it into the back of her bag. There wasn't much of a point in handing it back in now. They were already in trouble as it was so sneaking a book out without authorization wasn't going to change much.

The sound of feet rushing in their direction started to draw close, and Falentra knew the best hiding spots to go when trouble made its way to her. She could run off now, and leave the boy to fend for himself, which..would be fun to watch from afar, but it was late and she wasn't up to dealing with the guilt afterwards. Her eyes wandered, studying yet again the boy's movement and expressions. '' Come with me then.'' Her hand reached out and her boney fingers sunk themselves onto his cloak, gripping it firmly and pulling him in the direction she started to walk.
After taking a few turns down the now dimmed corridor, she released her grip and slowed down her pace before coming to a halt at a now more narrow corridor. It was a tight squeeze, and much darker than the ones they had been strolling through. She took a quick glance in his direction, to make sure he was alright. Falentra figured she was to say something round about now, but with her awkwardness now coming back to her, she decided to just brush the idea off and continue onwards, turning sideways and shuffling herself through the gap.

The Slytherin seemed… amused by Angus’ words. Maybe she hasn't completely let it go but still, it was something. Actually, that made the boy surprised and a bit suspicious. In his life, he has never gotten away with something thanks to his undeniable eloquence; usually, it would only make things worse (if it wasn’t already the cause of the problem). He’ll think of using it more later.
Besides that, the boy felt offended by the Slytherin’s question. “Of course not, I have enormous experience in getting into trouble, thanks for asking. I simply never learn but that's another matter,” he snorted. It was supposed to sound much better, he realized.

Angus would probably continue his somewhat pathetic name defence, yet, the monster called here the librarian was approaching dangerously rapidly. They had unfinished business (about three overdue books and half of the detention) and now he was probably the main suspect of causing chaos in the library. The boy was afraid that he would have come out of this battle as victoriously as he did from the one for the second volume of "Jinxes for Jinxed".

But then, another miracle, or rather: the most unexpected thing happened. The girl, the same one from whom Angus stole a book (in a really dramatic but also quite nasty way) and therefore got her into troubles with the librarian, was now helping him. Selflessly, it seemed. He obviously has to show his sparkling personality more often, it works apparently. Of course, being grabbed and pulled in an unknown direction without a warning wasn’t necessary, but the Gryffindor knew when to just appreciate the help.

The labyrinth of corridors the girl was leading Angus through was changing; the alleys were becoming narrower and darker. Angus smiled thinking of how, after three years, he still doesn't know so many things about Hogwarts. He probably will never get to know it fully, but it was ok; that was this place’s thing. When at one point the girl released him, the Gryffindor didn’t stop following her. At this point, he had to know where was she leading him. As usual in case when Angus’ curiosity overtook him, he had almost no second thoughts, almost

“Hey, you are not leading me to some kind of hidden lair of a three-headed dog that will devour me for my undeniable crimes? Because if so, I prefer consequences and punishment from the librarian or head of the house or even the headmaster. I wonder how it is to be eaten by his pygmy puffs? Putting it simply - where are we going?"

Did he really just say a three-headed dog? She reacted with a look of stupidity before responding. '' Oh yea. Takin' you to the underworld...'' Her face returned to its normal bland expression, though shaking her head, she continued to express the stupidity of the Gryffindors words. If only she could really have taken him to some sort of lair to prank him. There would have been no possible way for her to find such a creature, although the thought excited her. ''Uh, no. Unfortunately not. I'm just pullin' you away from trouble, and in the process, treat ya to a mini adventure through the alleyway that few students know about.'' The Slytherin continued forward, holding her wand ahead to keep their path well lit. Apart from the voices echoing through the narrow path, it was almost silent. The corridors students walked always had something going on, no matter the time of day or night. Rebellious students sneaking out, wildlife scattering around down to the painting that lived on the walls. Always so grumpy looking if disturbed, or not being able to help to have a nosey at what went on. Falentra hated that. She always thought that there was some way they could inform the Headmaster about children breaking the rules. Whether it was true or not, she didn't know, but she preferred to go with her gut.

Not far ahead the walls began to separate, allowing the two to move more freely. It would lead to an open area, large enough for the two to walk around comfortable and hold three rather large stones that formed a circle. Moving to the centre, she sat herself down on one of the rocks that would face the boy. He didn't seem all too talkative, or overly confident. At least that's the vibe he was giving her. It took her a moment to study what she could of him before her eyes lowered to her bag that sat between her legs. ''That book you took from me. What made you want it so much that you felt the need to nick it from me?'' The tips of her fingers tapped along the rock, making their way to a minute puddle formed within a dint of the stone. They wiggled around, playing somewhat to help cure the boredom that slowly started to creep its way to Falentra. It wasn't normal for her to bring someone to areas like this. They were her place to venture off to from time to time since the grounds had slowly started to become more active at night now.

Come to think of it, she knew nothing of the boy she brought here. His name, his house, his intentions..other that to steal from her. It wasn't the greatest of starts or first impressions for that matter. That was usually her doing, but he got there before her this time around. '' And what's your name?'' Her tone was somewhat demanding, and her poster had straightened almost to try and back up her tone. She didn't want to ask too much of him. It might have given off that impression that she was interested in the boy. She wasn't really... but his attempt to steal something from her did somewhat make her curious of him.
