Department of MysteriesReducioEver been to a quiet, enchanted library? Stepping into this cabin may feel as though you're in one of them.
The interior of the Mysteries cabin has a very clear colour palette in midnight blue, black, silver, and violet. Many find the common room is often in a quiet state, filled with something calming and mysterious. Large couches give a comfortable space if the residents do want to interact, but there is equally as much space dedicated to armchairs that stand by themselves and cushioned benches by windows, with pillows and blankets. The walls are lined with endless bookshelves and star charts, and floating candles cover the ceiling, much like in the Great Hall. As many of the inhabitants in this cabin are observant, intellectually gifted, introverted, and some even mysterious, the bedrooms are also kept in pairs of two to ensure that everyone feels comfortable.
Each resident can choose a twin XL-sized bed with a trunk standing at the end. There is also a bedside table with space for books and an enchanted candle. Something unique that this cabin has is a curtain students may pull around their bed at night to drown out any noise or light. It’s perfect for when the common room gets loud, or if you are one who enjoys staying up reading in candlelight. The summer camp planning committee suggests midnight stargazing, puzzle nights, or silent reading hours as a bonding experience for those in the Department of Mysteries.

|| | Among the cabins that belonged to the section determined as the "Department of Mysteries" was one that seemed to like the idea of being particularly elusive even among the inscrutable. While to its left and right sides in a semicircle there lay other cabins of its variety, a secondary ring of a few near-century-old aspens and alders seemed to be trying to hem the cabin in, leaving it cozied and safely nestled within its protective embrace. Unless it was known better, it would inadvertently succeed in breathing a certain air akin to a particular German faerietale. Inside, the cabin remained loyal to design, though admittedly there were certain things in the very bones of the residence that remained unique to its nature. For one thing, the log cabin aesthetic of the steep stairwell that led to a second floor loft and was home to five beds, which had a habit of creaking and groaning like a banshee; for another, on the lower level the windows were angled in a fashion that caused the branches of the alder and aspens to cast their shadows in grasping claws across the walls and floors in plain sight of the other five beds. At least the interior was deathly silent, broken only by the sound of whistling as wind passed over the roof. Along the walls hung shadow boxes filled with pinned insects: butterflies, moths, wasps and bees, beetles, and creepy-crawlies of both magical and mundane natures alongside pressed flora both poisonous and pretty. In certain glass cases near shelves were posed and taxidermized small creatures, some of which featured skeletons of the critters such as a European adder, a few small rodents, and a couple songbirds. In the desk drawers between the drawers intended for temporary student storage lay crystals and minerals labeled meticulously with their identities, native range, and year of their find in their location. Occasionally there was a small animal skull or insect among them, and here or there lay seeds and blossoms of plants. This was, indeed, a cabin of curios, perfectly fitting for the collection of curious students that had been assigned to it. Hopefully they would find themselves right at home. | || |
