Another year, another duel for the lioness to moderate. Honestly at this point she was getting quite good at knowing the ropes of how a duel worked even though she was far from a duelist. She was the Quidditch player where her cousin, Dylan, was the duelist. But that did not stop her from enjoying moderation. It was a fun sport. More fun than getting blasted constantly by spells and dodging back and forth each round.

This duel was different. A first year versus a second year. Now that was going to be an interesting match of who could hold their own more. It all burned down to sheer luck and wit. Also good dodging skills. Those were the keys to a good duel that was entertaining as well as good for the duelist.

Shaking her head, Avery pulled her mind back into the present and focused on what was before her. "Alright duelists! Welcome to your unofficial duel! If you don't already know, my name is Avery Gray and I will be your moderator. Now, you may begin." Avery would smile at her two duelists upon them entering in the room. She wanted them to know that she wished them well, because she did. Duels were never easy. Never.

Be the change you wish to see
in the world.

The polished wood of the dueling platform felt strangely different as she stepped onto it with deliberate and measured steps. The second year was used to the classroom floors. This was her first time being inside the Dueling Club. The room even seemed more quieter than she'd expected though she'd suspected that it was only because every single sound felt amplified by the steady rhythm of her heartbeat. Across from her stood her opponent who was a year younger than her but was another student who was preparing for the same challenge. She offered him a small polite nod before turning her attention back to the space between them.

This was her very first duel even though it was an unofficial one. She'd spent plenty of times studying spells memorizing the wand movements and learning the theory behind the magic combat. But standing here was entirely different from reading it in a textbook. If she made a mistake there was no page to turn back to. There was no professor stopping the lesson to explain a concept again. It would simply be her knowledge and her judgement and also whatever happened in that moment.

Diana found herself taking a slow steady breath despite the flutter of nerves in her stomach. Panicking would only make things harder not easier. She'd always believed that careful observation was just as important as quick reactions and there was absolutely no reason to abandon it now. Every duel was a chance to learn no matter if you succeed to fail.

Her fingers rested comfortably against her wand. The familiar weight of her wand seemed to ground her and helped the anxious excitment settle into quiet determination. The thought of winning would certainly be nice. But Diana wanted to prove to herself that she belonged here more than anything. Every single experienced duelist had once stood where she now stood and faced their own first match with uncertainty.

There were no monkey's who'd try and steal her wand. It was only after the Capture the Flag game at Castelobruxo that Diana asked if Avery would moderate a duel for her. She hadn't expected the older girl to agree but Diana was glad that she had. Diana looked over at Avery and gave her a warm smile before she she lifted her wand into a ready position. Her muted blue-grey eyes moved and remained fixed on the space ahead and were calm and attentive as she waited for the duel to truly begin.

─────Lucian had found himself in the duelling room yet again. This time however unlike the last time, he was here to duel and not to hurt an older student because he was scared. He walked towards where he could see someone already standing. He had his wand with him check. He was in his uniform. He looked around and prepared himself mentally for what was about to happen. He was not sure how things would turn out. Whether he would be lucky like last time to be able to hit someone older with spells.

He was sure this was going to be fun for sure. He was ready for any circumstances. He looked around hoping to see someone there but he was alone- well not really. He had two people there. One of them was the moderator and the other his opponent. He was ready for the duel. He was not going to let anyone know what his little mind was thinking about. He was not sure his stance was right for the spell but he would make it correct before he would cast the spell.

He was going to keep the spell a secret and close to his heart than let his opponent know what he was upto. Neither his stance nor his mouth was going to give away what he was planning. He was going to be a good boy in this manner. He held his wand strongly in his hand, ready for the duel.
