When Paul came into the assigned cabin, there was no one inside. The boy pulled his 100% Muggle suitcase on four wheels, with a black cloth cover stating "stay away from my suitcase", down the common room and through a short corridor towards the bedrooms. He was looking around, at the pictures of the magical beings on the walls, surprised about what kinds of creatures there were in the magical world.

"Whoa... that's... extraordinary." Did he breathe out under his breath.

I'll make sure to come back and check it out later!
The boy made a mental note, as he went on.

He passed around bedroom for four people with two bunk beds. His eyes widened at the view of a bunk bed, the concept of which Paul was keen on and excited about claiming (the upper part, of course). Whoa, they have bunk beds?! Awesome!

His journey through the cabin ended in a room for three people. He had a friend who would share a room and probably even the bed with him, but the rest of the inhabitants of the cabin, he had no idea about. If they knew each other and were a group already, they'd surely appreciate the room for four. On the other hand, if there was someone who didn't know anybody in the cabin, they could easily join him and Piper and be cordially welcomed.

"Uh..." Paul pulled his don't touch my suitcase suitcase over a doorsill, and looked around, heading towards the bunk bed.

From his backpack, his Pygmy Puff started peeping through the partly opened zipper, tickling him on the back of his neck.

"Wait f'r eit, pal. Gotta get... uh, settled deun first." His Scottish accent was, after a month with people who frequently used it when speaking, more audible.

Patrick, as if having comprehended, squeaked, then hid back in the warm inside of Paul's backpack.

Turner stopped at the heel of the bunk bed, pushing down the pulling handle of the suitcase, putting his backpack onto it. He opened the zipper and fished for Patrick, pulling him out of the backpack and putting him onto his shoulder. He then looked up the bed, to see how high it actually was.

"See that? It's called bunk bed and we're claiming the upper one! We're gonna climb that ladder now. Ya better hold on and try not to fall down, lad!" Called the boy, grinning at his fluffy, new Pygmy Puff. Then, he held on to the bed ladder and started climbing it. When he reached his bed, he moved to a side, to sit on it, with his legs dangling in the air.

"Nice view, right?"
Asked the boy jokingly, looking around. There was a large window and three tables with three chairs, and closets. There was also a place for the suitcase in front of the bed.

"Hm, where do you wanna sleep? On the table, or the chair? Or... in the suitcase?"

Aelis took a deep breath and pushed the door open before saying with a bright smile “HELLO PEOPLE!” She was welcomed with an awkward silence, we could hear crickets in background, it was pitying. She groaned and putted her bag down next to the cabin entrance. She wanted to look around a bit before settling down.

“Well, seems like I’m alone. Honestly I don’t mind. More time for myself before the terrifying event of meeting people! she said the last part dramatically before laughing at herself. “What was that, Aelis? You sounded like a psycho.”

She started humming softly a tune, looking around and taking in the decorations of the cabin, it was beautiful, paints of creatures everywhere, she really liked it. After a while of admiring her new “home” for a few weeks, she took her leather bag and started walking to one of the room. She stopped dead on her track when she saw a boy sitting on one of the two bunk bed. “Uhhh… hi? I guess where in the same cabin…” smooth, Aelis. Really smooth. She tries a small smile and says I’m Aelis by the way, next I’m going to be a second year Slytherin. What about you?

Summer Camp Cabin, Campgrounds
XXXAkari's first thought when he read the bulletin board was that it was a very long list of people he didn't know. Not a single name looked familiar, except for Hikari, of course. But rather than inducing nervousness, it only sparked an excited flame in him. This was his first summer camp, and it was already turning out to be a lovely experience even though he had done nothing but arrive.

XXXThe corner of his trunk bumped lightly against the doorframe of their assigned cabin, floating after Akari with the use of Wingardium Leviosa. It seemed fairly empty at the moment, except for the loud declaration of "HELLO, PEOPLE!" from up ahead. Akari hid a small chuckle. He peeked through the bedrooms, noting the first bunk bed he saw and leaving his trunk there. Whether Hikari wanted this room or another room, Akari was 100% stealing the top bunk. Even so, he left the decision for later. He didn't want to unpack yet, which made it easier for a possible swap later on. Then he went to investigate the exclamation from one of the other bedrooms.

XXX"Hello to you, too!" He said to the girl who had spoken earlier. At least, he was pretty sure it had been her. There were only two people in there, one boy and one girl. A strange ball of fluff chirped from its perch on a top bunk. Akari stared at it, then at the boy who was sitting nearby. "What an interesting creature! My name is Akari, from Mahoutokoro. It's a pleasure to meet you both, or, you three." The ball of fluff was sentient, right? Probably? He was half convinced he'd seen a few in the halls of Mahoutokoro, but he wasn't sure.

XXXThe cabin was honestly beautiful. He marveled at the hanging plants-- briefly wondering if they would have to water them during their stay-- and the large windows which provided ample light. Akari loved getting up with the sunrise, so those would be quite helpful in that regard. His thoughts drifted to his friend, Hikari. When would he arrive? He suspected the aesthetic of their cabin would inspire many sketches.

Hikari was looking forward to a calm and peaceful summer camp this time around.

Well, as peaceful as it could possibly be with an overeager, four-month old puppy determined to throw himself into every corner of it.

Nevertheless, Taro was surprisingly well behaved around Hikari. Or perhaps Hikari's own disposition had some quiet influence on the animal. While the puppy remained perfectly capable of smacking into anything and everything within reach, scrambling into places he had no business being, and sinking his teeth into whatever happened to catch his attention, he was generally quiet. More importantly, he listened to Hikari.

For the most part, anyway.

Hikari's only real grievance with the pup was his seeming wanderlust.

He possessed an almost remarkable ability to become distracted by the smallest things. A rustle in the grass. A distant voice. Some entirely insignificant object that Hikari could not even see. Taro would simply wander off, apparently possessed by the sudden and urgent need to investigate.

Or perhaps he was just easily distracted and Hikari was the most boring person he had ever met.

After Taro had wandered away from him for the fourth time, Hikari finally retrieved the Crup and settled him securely into his arms before making his way towards his cabin.

———

The doors opened to a large and spacious common area, far warmer than Hikari had expected. Dark wooden beams stretched overhead, contrasting against the cream-coloured walls, while greenery seemed to have found its way into nearly every available space. Hanging plants trailed from shelves and rafters, some leaves brushing against the edges of the large windows that let the afternoon light spill across the room.

His attention moved briefly across the furnishings. Creature sketches covered portions of the walls, some carefully framed, others pinned alongside smaller notes and illustrations. There was even a mural occupying one of the larger sections of wall, colourful enough to stand out against the otherwise muted palette.

It looked comfortable, certainly.

More cottage than cabin, Hikari thought.

Taro yipped, drawing Hikari to the people in the cabin. There were already several people inside.

He recognised one immediately.

Akari.

That, at least, was one less unfamiliar face to account for.

A voice carried from one of the bedrooms, followed by the unmistakable sound of several people talking over one another. Hikari paused just inside the doorway, Taro shifting restlessly in his arms.

So much for peaceful.

The Crup seemed considerably less concerned by the noise. His attention had already fixed itself on something across the room.

Hikari followed his gaze.

"No."

Taro's ears twitched.

Hikari sighed quietly and adjusted his hold before the puppy could launch himself towards whatever had caught his attention.

Paul was looking out of the huge window, watching people walking by, looking for their cabins outside. Meanwhile, he was subconsciously running the tips of the fingers of his right hand through Patrick's fur. It was a very relaxing activity, as the boy had found out at home. It usually lulled both him and Patrick to sleep. Not now though, Paul. It's no time to sleep. There's so much to do still! You must meet the others, go for a walk looking for magical creatures, and... other things! The boy had to do with a wide yawn at the end of his inner dialogue.

Speaking of the Pygmy, the fluffy boy was looking around no less curiously, trying to take in all the stimuli of a particularly unknown place. His efforts seemed to go well, because Patrick jumped down from Paul's shoulder onto the blanket atop of the mattress at some point, looking at the closet, probably craving to stick his curious, fluffy nose inside.

A loud HELLO came to Paul's ears, and the boy couldn't not take notice, as well as the animal on his bed. The two of them looked at each other, their eyes similarly expectant. Paul smirked at the similarity of their reactions.

"Hello to you, too!"

When another voice spoke, Paul couldn't stay silent anymore, for it might be seen as rude.
"Uh... hey?" Did he call back not quite as loudly as the first voice.

Then, he heard one of the individuals speaking another language, one he understood. Not perfectly, but fragments. It was Scottish Gaelic, which Paul was able to understand some words, yet, he could not speak it fluently, nor could he understand the sentences as a whole.

"Ya hear that? Seems like we're gonna have a Highlander pal in the cabin!" Spoke Paul and Patrick squeaked in excitement, running onto Paul's palm to be lifted and placed on the Gryff's shoulder.

When the two people appeared in the doorframe of the room he claimed, the boy started grinning at them and waving.

“Uhhh… hi? I guess where in the same cabin…”

"Hey... that's great!" Did Paul say, as cheerful as ever. As they started introducing themselves, he listened carefully to who they were.
"Nice to meetcha, Aelis (@Aelis Tavis. Any chance ya from the Highlands? Think I heard someone speak Sco'ish Gaelic..." Uttered the boy.

As the other boy, @Akari Kabukimono, spoke, Paul's attention naturally moved over to him, his eyes widening. "Whoa... y-you're from Mahoutokoro? That's cool! Sounds Japanese... is it in Japan? Sorry if it's not, it's just that... it sounds Japanese, like... hm, Hokkaido, or Shikoku." Rambled the boy, jumping down from his bed.

"Paul, Gryffindor, second year too." He gave Aelis a wink, then moved his head to a side, to look at Patrick. "And this is Patrick. Pygmy Puff. Pardon his enthusiasm if his tongue happens to appear in your ear at some point." Paul grinned, rubbing the top of the fluff's head with his finger. "I've been trying to teach him it's not cool, but... yeah, it's not goin' great."

There came another boy, one who seemed to have the pleasure of being an owner of a dog. And, although the puppy looked cute and all, and Paul first hadn't realized it could be dangerous to other creatures in the cabin, Patrick's squeking in cabin was the impulse that he needed.

"Huh... what on-" Paul was going to take the Pygmy down from his shoulder and hold him in his hands for a while, to protect him from potential danger, but the creature apparently felt different about the situation. Patrick jumped down, or fell - nobody could be sure at that point - and ran across the floor.

"No."

That was the last thing that Paul heard (but didn't understand, as it seemed to be said in another language) from the boy who appeared last. Patrick then ran between @Hikari Fujimoto's legs, and rushed to the corridor, and then, possibly, the common room.

"Geez... not again, bro!" Paul ran forward, leaving the room and trying to pass around the boys and the girl, to run after his Pygmy. Almost as if it wasn't Patrick's first escape...

Della Barfield, once again, realized it was probably too late to organize sleeping arrangements with people she knew. Unfortunately, her list of friends over the last five years was small. At least one of them had disappeared; the others were mainly forced to talk to her because she bossed them around on the broom racing team. So when she skimmed the list of cabin assignments at summer camp—merely ten minutes before she was supposed to arrive and put her stuff down in said cabin—she saw that she recognized not a single name. And she was the oldest. Excellent.

If she found the nearest professor, could she turn heel and get on the train home? Or was she positively trapped here in the muggy summer heat with a heap of underclassmen? She could be in her Paddington bedroom right now, working on drawings and prepping for the NEWT-level classes she had studied so hard to get access to. (The studying last year really put a big dent in her in missions to find friends and romance.)

Knowing that Greta was coiled in the bottom of her shoulder bag, always there for moral support, Della took a deep breath and marched into her assigned cabin. Five years of broom captaincy taught her that just because she was quiet, it didn’t mean she couldn’t exude a cool confidence.

The elder Gryffindor entered to find that a few of her cabinmates had already found the place; the first thing she noticed was that it was themed around the magical creatures. She vaguely recalled that the whole camp was centered around the Ministry—ugh, more career prep probably. The second thing she noticed was that one boy was chasing his pygmy puff around the cabin. That combined with the critters adorning the walls was reassuring—Della Barfield adored animals of all shapes and sizes, magical or not.

She quickly shut the front door so that the little fluff ball wouldn’t run outside—that seemed to be its intention from as far as she could tell.

“Whoa, there! Need some help?”

The second time she went to Hogwarts. She hoped she didn't get sick again like the last time she was at the previous Hogwarts Spring Ball. She also wondered if her cousin, Lesmana, also oversaw the event. One thing she knew for sure: her parents definitely told the man to take care of her.

It wasn't like she didn't like her cousin.

Lesmana was kind and reliable. But his nagging was the worst. Sometimes he could become too overprotective. Perhaps it was because both of them were the only child of their families, and Lesmana always saw her like his own little sister. Kanthil was grateful for that, but she also wanted to have her own time to expand her connections.

It was her first time feeling the summer at Hogwarts. Her school didn't have Summer: only rainy and dry seasons, being a tropical country. She didn't hate it or like it. A bit uncomfortable but tolerable. In her right hand was her Enchanted Trunk, the newest model with a mass-reducing feature, making it lightweight. On her left elbow hung a picnic basket. Inside it, Niskala was sleeping soundly.

She entered the cabin just after the door was closed by another camper. She, of course, didn't leave the door open. She still remembered her manners lesson.

Inside, the cabin was decorated in a creatures' theme. She hadn't finished looking around until a boy, she believed younger than her, ran around. She tilted her head, curious about what the boy was chasing or running from. The girl before her earlier offered the boy help.

"What's wrong?" Kanthil asked to anyone who cared to answer.

Patrick apparently considered his escape an obstacle course jog. When an obstacle occurred in front of him, he either ran to the side to pass around it, or jumped to avoid it. Two legs? Run right between them. A table? Run around and go on! Just never give up - that was the only rule the animal followed.

When he reached the common room, the first thing he noticed with his small eyes was a beam of sunlight and a blow of fresh air. The decision to go there wasn't difficult reach. It was made in less than a second, actually. But then, something unfortunate happened. @Della Barfield shut the door. Right in the moment when Patrick was almost there! Shoot, change of plans.

The Pygmy turned to the right and started running towards an armchair. There were other animals around here. First, a bigger beast, whose fangs Patrick noticed, back in the room he and the Patrick-come-back-right-now-not-again-finally-where-have you-been human were in. A short human was holding it, but the beast couldn't fool him. Whether it wanted to play with him, or lacerate him, Patrick had no clue and sure as hell wasn't going to find out.

The place under the armchair looked comfy though. It was dark, sadly. Hopefully, there wouldn't be rats. Fleas, bed bugs and mites, on the other hand, would surely make a filling snack. And, the space looked like a safe haven too, being too small to be entered by a predator bigger than Patrick himself. The animal squeaked in joy, as it kept running. Not long after that, did he reach the destination.

"Patrick!" The Patrick-come-back-right-now-not-again-finally-where-have you-been human's unmistakable voice came to his ears and the purple fluffy ball snickered. He didn't want the guy to worry, really. He just wanted to stay away from danger.

"Uhm... yeah." The Patrick-come-back-right-now-not-again-finally-where-have you-been human was walking through the common room, frowning and looking for his Pygmy, when Della asked her question. Which was great, by the way. He needed help to find and get his bloody ten-month amount of pocket money worth creature back onto his shoulder where it belonged anyway.

"I... uhm... I'm looking for a pygmy. Do you have, by chance, any idea where he might be?"
Paul replied to the older girl and blushed slightly, or maybe, it was the adrenaline. Dammit, Paul! These were your very first minutes at the cabin, and yet, you weren't able to keep Patrick under your watch! How on earth are ya gonna work with animals one day, if you just... let them escape?! Spoke the down-to-earth and cynical part of his mind, which he shook off.

Then though, the door opened again, and another girl appeared in the cabin. One with a basket, whom Paul didn't recognize from the castle.
Another Human with an object which wasn't alive, from which the Pygmy could smell and hear another beast, this time even more dangerous.

Patrick had to act fast. This might be his only chance to get away from the den of deadly beasts and several humans who seemed to be completely fine with them, as their heartbeat didn't even go faster. Patrick could hear it! Well, if they were calm, the Pygmy certainly wasn't!

Leaving his safe place below the armchair, he headed for the door. He was almost there, he could now smell freedom! But then, the silly human shut the door closed again, goddammit! Patrick squeaked, annoyed.

Paul saw his Pygmy run to the door. His eyes widened, and the boy called at @Kanthil Kinanthi, quite desperately: "Shut the door... please!" Since Kanthil seemed to choose to close the door even before his calling, the boy exhaled in relief. "Huh... thanks a lot! You might have saved Patrick's life."

Patrick, however, had to turn around again. There was a piece of furniture closer to him now, than the one he had been under before. It was a longer one, called sofa in human speech. Patrick ran towards it and, once again, hid beneath.

Paul ran after him, but the creature managed to get under the sofa before Paul happened to get to the space between the door and the sofa.

The last girl asked what was wrong. Well, a lot of things, including Paul's almost non-existant ability to guard his pets... The human sighed. "Long story short, there's a loose Pygmy around... have ya seen it?"

Hikari had barely finished speaking when a small ball of fluff suddenly darted between his legs.

His eyes followed the Pygmy Puff for a moment, but before he could say anything, Taro's attention snapped towards the movement.

The Crup wriggled in Hikari's arms.

"No."

The puppy gave one particularly determined twist, and Hikari's grip slipped just enough for the four-month-old Crup to tumble onto the floor.

"Taro—"

The puppy immediately took off.

For one brief second, Hikari thought he was going after the Pygmy Puff.

But his confusion deepened when he headed in the opposite direction.

Taro bounded straight towards the bedroom with Hikari close behind and skidded to a halt in front of the bunk bed, and stared upwards.

Hikari blinked.

The puppy's tail wagged furiously as he inspected the ladder, the bottom bunk, and eventually the upper bunk before jumping onto the lower bunk bed and curling into himself.

Hikari tried not to scowl, walking over to the bed and trying to lift the puppy off it, "We don't know if someone's already—" Taro's loud indignant whine cut him off and the boy sighed, casting a quick glance around to check for belongings indicating someone had already claimed the bed.

"If no one wants this bed specifically, I'd like to have it." He glanced at Taro again. At the very least, it would be slightly easier to force his own pet off his bed than someone else's. Though, judging by the puppy's expression, Hikari wasn't particularly convinced it would actually make a difference.

His gaze drifted upwards, catching sight of the belongings on the upper bunk, specifically the familiar trunk that rested in a corner.

Akari.

Hikari relaxed slightly. At least he knew Akari well enough that sharing a bunk wouldn't be awkward.
