---Another winter was upon Hogwarts. Unlike the previous years, Guinevere had found herself pent up inside the castle, and could be found in a total of three places when outside class times; her dorm, the library, or the Great Hall.
---Indeed, those locations would entail the only activities that held any importance to the fifth year at the moment: sleeping, studying, and eating. Between studying for ten (10) OWLs, there wasn't exactly an extra minute to spare; so that was what Guinevere did: waste away many precious minutes that could have contributed towards her sleep.
---Her skates were shoved hastily into her bag, laces hanging out of the sides. Surely it would cause a portion of loose leafs and textbooks alike to lose their shape and acquire creases. She could only hope that the professors wouldn't dock points for the messiness.
---At this time of winter, the lake was frozen over, at least ten or so centimeters, maybe thicker. It was expected; with the near constant snowfall, it was a surprise even that the Squid hadn't frozen into a sunken statue. She wondered how it was doing. To cope with the temperatures, Guinevere was bundled up in three pairs of pants and four layers of jackets. She also had her wand on hand, ready to cast Aer Calidus when it got too

cold and if she got wet.
---Arriving at the edge of the frozen expanse, Guinevere set her things down on a fallen log, the same one she always beelined towards. Sitting down was a slight difficulty, given the layers, but she managed, and figured that once she got a couple laps out, she would warm up.
---Skate-tying was second nature to the ex-figure skater; she still had permanent swells on her index fingers from yanking at the laces from years bygone. With a sure hand, she flicked at the blade, testing the sharpness: dull, as she was expecting. The last time a proper sharpening had occurred was too long ago for her to recall.
---When she was done tying laces, she flipped a single layer of pant leg over the boot, keeping the laces in place. She eyed the surrounding area and saw no one for the time being, but still tossed all her belongings in her bag for security. She patted it halfheartedly, and stepped onto the ice.

Frozen Lake, Frozen Hands PV A. Fletching

Adora was sitting by a window in the common room, staring out at the cold winter night. She pressed a hand to the glass, letting the coolness soak into her fingers tips. She'd been copped up for a while, so she decided to step outside and walk around for a little while. She went up to her dorm to get a jacket when she noticed a bit of string hanging out of her trunk. Adora lifted the lid and traced the end of the string to a small skate hiding in the corner of her trunk. Huh. How did that get in there? the first year thought. She dug around for a few minutes searching for the other one, and found it. Can't hurt to take them with me. She set them on the ground next to her bed and slipped into her jacket. She grabbed the skates by the laces and walked out to the grounds. The cold air bit her nose and sent shivers down her spine, but Adora didn't care all that much. She walked about, the grass crunching beneath her shoes. The night was quiet aside from the wind whistling through the nearby trees, and animals chittering along the Forbidden Forest's edge. She turned her head towards the great lake and noticed a figure gliding across it. She walked toward it, and as the figure came into view, Adora realized it was a girl, most likely a student. She was moving across the frozen-over lake with so much grace Adora couldn't help but watch in awe. She thought back to when she was younger, and would go back to Ireland every winter or so and skate at her grandparent's house. She was never very good at it, but those were some of her fondest memories. She smiled to herself, and continued walking in the girl's direction. "Hey there," Adora called out. "You're really good at skating, maybe you could teach me something? My skates are a bit small though." She laughed softly as she held up her skates, smiling.
