Treasonous Tarot
The atmosphere of the courtyard felt extraordinary. The fog from the night before hadn't settled down yet and hurled a veil of mystery through the morning air. It gave a distinct shine to the location, one where mystery and mischievousness awaited those that dared to enter. The scene was one that suited prophecy and divination. A scene to truly behold.
It was then, that a young Veela stumbled upon the courtyard. The morning light gave her an almost angel-like aura. An angel rushing through the courtyard looking for a quiet spot, one where she could reflect on her past and future. A silver halo surrounded her, as she looked behind her to observe her surroundings. When she neared one of the stone benches scattered around the courtyard, she stopped abruptly.
She was quietly fumbling with a petite rectangular box, one that held great importance to her. It was a present she had gotten from her grandmother, a precious gift. True, she had forgotten about it for quite some time, but she believed it was a sign that she had stumbled upon it this morning. It had laid there so innocently upon her nightstand and while she was sure she hadn't laid it there the night before, she had taken it with her.
The Veela looked around her and noticed there were only a couple of students around. Always in groups of two, obeying the new ground rules. Rose felt the warnings in the great hall plagued a lot of students their minds and while she had loved the new rumours, she felt a lot of them were overreacting. She was an enthusiast for rumours, as blackmail was a must. A ground rule of her father's making. She slightly smirked at that. 'Ah, home sweet home.' She thought with a wry smile.
The silver-haired girl carefully draped her cloak over her chosen seat, as it was still humid. On top of it, she placed her insignificant rectangular box and observed her surroundings once more.
As her mind rambled on, the girl began to delicately open the little carton, until some cards were revealed. Cards that could describe someone's past, define their present and foretell their future. These relatively occult cards were called Tarot cards. It was an ancient set, blessed with age and had been tenderly taken care of for years.
Until they were given to a new generation, one that didn't have much experience at all and would need to be trained to understand the mystical properties of these cards.
She was a newcomer, an apprentice, one that had been deprived of knowledge and was just now exploring the world of prophecy's without the proper teachings, trying to figure it out on her own. She began to lay: a 'dream spread' out, as she wanted some explanations for the peculiar nightmares she kept having. If only she knew a seer that could help her. She would look into that.
The three cards she drew for her dream spread were the hermit, the reversed knights of cups and the reversed ten of pentacles. Rose scowled as she began to interpret her cards. As she had just started to learn all the cards, she sometimes needed the little manual that was included. She grimaced as it became clear treachery was a vital lead in her foresight. She was still occupied with her cards when she was alarmed by a noise.
