Is Anyone Out There?

After sitting stiffly at the Slytherin table for far too long, a girl came up to sit near her. This girl peaked Athena's interest. She had heard the other first year's name being called. If only she could remember... Oh! Her name was Quintessa! The girl reminded Athena of herself ten minutes ago, and well, right now. Lonely, disappointed, and worried. She knew that feeling. She knew it very well.
Athena debated talking to Quintessa. Should she? She would probably make it super awkward. Would the girl even be able to hear her through the constant hubbub of voices in the Great Hall?
As Athena was puzzling over what to do, a strand of hair fell in her face. She blew it away, and as she did, the older Slytherins right next to her accidentally shoved her into the girl on her other side, who looked to be at least Fourth Year. The older girl glared at Athena, and Athena barely resisted glaring back.
Athena decided that both her and Quintessa would be even more miserable if this carried on, and that even if Quintessa didn't like her, it couldn't be worse than this.
Athena stood up and walked over to where Quintessa was sitting, squishing herself into a tiny opening right beside Quintessa. Athena smiled awkwardly at the other girl, raising her voice a bit to be heard over the crowd "Hey, I'm Athena. Are you a First Year too?" Athena flinched as the words left her mouth. Wow, that was super awkward, she thought to herself, Great job, Athena,

I'm going to roleplay this in the past, because in present time, Athena is past being accepted into Slytherin.

Is Anyone Out There?
Quintessa jumped at the sudden question. And what seemed like a greeting. “Umm, yes. Athena, right? It’s uh...nice to meet you...” she said quietly. Her voice was barely a whisper as it was. ‘Hopefully I didn’t mess up too bad.’ Quintessa thought to herself. She looked up at the girl next to her hesitantly. She looked at least...semi-friendly. Or so Quinn hoped. It was getting rather lonely at the table. And rather painful. The constant buzz of chatter, (mostly from those over-zealous Griffindors), had given her quite the headache. Quinn shook her head. Her thoughts were going all over the place, uncontrolled by a stern voice or the obnoxious clearing of a throat. She made a mental note to not let herself get off track anymore. It wouldn’t make her studies very fruitful, and it sure wouldn’t get her any friends.

In the midst of her thoughts, Quintessa had almost forgotten the girl beside her. “I’m so sorry, did you say something else?” Quintessa’s voice quivered. She feared the girl would just be angry with her. That she would be alone again. Or worse, that Athena would be mean to her for her meek demeanor. She anxiously fiddled with an edge of her robes, awaiting a response.
