The laughter began to subside in the Great Hall as students slowly got up from their chairs and made their way to the common rooms, following the prefects. Evander stayed behind for just a few more moments, thanking the house-elves cleaning up the plates before tucking his chair nicely under the table. It was something his parents had drilled into him, such an ingrained part of him that he did not even notice that he did it.

Looking back at the massive doors, he took one last look around the hall. His eyes froze. Everything else continued moving around him. Students talked, professors discussed, benches scrapped across the cold stone floors. But everything else disappeared into silence, leaving nothing but her. It couldn't be. Years have passed. People grow old, memories fade. But then...He knew who she was no matter how many years passed.

His heart stopped in his chest, shock clouding his mind. Each unanswered question, each silent night filled with thoughts about why she hadn’t written even one letter, came flooding back in an instant. He walked towards her slowly, as if afraid that going too fast might cause this dream to disappear. Only a few steps stood between him and her.

"... Angel?" Her name slipped from his lips in a barely audible whisper. Again his mouth moved."A-Angel...?"

Words couldn't properly expressed what she was feeling at the moment. Was it grievance? Knowing she won't be back at Wales? Or perhaps feeling bittersweet. The feeling of nostalgia. No it was more of a mix. Excitement yet deathly afraid. Afraid of what exactly? Knowing him. Oh right.

Memories began to haze in lavender as she tried to salvage any recollection. There was many but one that stood out was him. Wait it couldn't be. Angel left him without a proper speech not even such a phrase can bring her back to apologize. But her parents were adamant. She was getting older and Caerphilly never had patience. After that summer she never returned to London ever. Jamais vu had arrived.

Evander. No Mr.Beauchamp. Now she remembered of all the memories she had in London every spring break. She'd visit the Beauchamps often. Unique lineage just like her family. But they were Veelas and they were Vampires. Dhampirs. Angel had a sudden jolt when she heard his name back at the Sorting ceremony. Gryffindor. Now she thought he was a Slytherin that's one thing she would've assumed. But the hat seems to see which house you would thrive on for the next years to come. Both families were never enemies. Allies, more than allies they were perhaps an inner circle true friends. Both high status, yet something was missing. Dodging the prediction she might stumble upon him once again. What happened that day, was when she had no say at all.

Unfinished business between the lion and the snake. What was once a heartfelt relationship and if one could state, a friendship had long past. Angel was feeling utmost indifferent. But she could not mistaken the feeling that she was missing that. Evander was the one that made through her heart the most. One who got her. A voice called out from afar. Her heels clashed in the icy gabled floors. Coincidence. It was him. Her composure remained the same yet her interest was piqued once again.

"Yes? You called for me? You seemed to have known—"

She pulled her tongue. As she turned to meet the gaze of the one who called for her, it was Evander. He really was here. Her head swirled. This predicament was not the one she asked for. He still looked the same to her after all this time. A scene not left for a return.

"Oh it's you. Evander." she said calmly, it was not forced yet her voice was still clear. A bit of hesitation in whether to speak or not to at all

His brunette hair with his doe eyes. Recognized her in a flash. Her features stood out. The auburn eyes with a paste for skin. Her raven hair expanded as she walked up to him. Never really guessed he'd be attending Hogwarts as well.

"It's been forever has it?" she said in a solemn tone

Her eyes soften. In a way it was like she’d been in awe. Her friend. Since childhood they would be inseparable. Being mischievous and loud as always. Times had changed. However that feeling of surprise and shock always gets to her. It was her, really her.

It seemed like forever before Evander merely stared at her. Years had silently passed between them, turning those childhood memories into bits that often seemed imaginary. But regardless of the time that had passed between them and all the people he had met along the way, the recognition happened as easily as breathing. The time had left marks on her face and on her appearance but had done very little to change the girl that had used to run with him across the woods, her hands full of earth and her laughter ringing in the forest.

"I have." he replied, barely louder than the noise around him. "Longer than I ever thought I would wait." A slight smile curved his mouth, but his eyes remained distant. There was affection there, of course, but also caution. He had replayed this scene in his head hundreds of times over the years, often while sitting under the old oak tree where they used to meet in secret. But now that she was here in front of him, he couldn't think of any of those speeches or questions or maybe even complaints. "I..." He laughed softly in spite of himself. "I thought I was imagining things for a moment."

He fidgeted with the strap of his satchel, which was probably unnecessary; he was always able to control himself easily. Now, however, that didn't seem to be the case. "So many years..." he said quietly to himself. It had been so long since he last saw her. Years of birthdays and summers had passed in between, and somewhere during the years, he had talked himself into thinking that she had just forgotten him. However, as he stared into her eyes, the certainty that he had been feeling began to lose its hold on him. He became softening with his eyes.

"Angel, I have missed you." The admission came from his mouth easily, as if it did not cost him anything at all. There was no trace of bitterness in the admission, as if trying to make her carry the burden of his years of loneliness. Just pure truth. Truth for one who once knew everything about him.

Her view panned to the floor as his hands were quivering due to incertitude. Evander was always a facile guy to overawe, she was a easy lass to titter. Angel was dumbfounded to have known what had happened, he seemed much less graceful more casual, recalling the incalculable events he would always become so ritzy. She shook her head, her smile a bit restrained she let herself breathe, forgetting how to was her own mannerism.

"You still look just as scrawny Evan." she chuckled amused by the nickname she still remembered she gave him in the past

Between the silver lining of casual and professionalism was starting to blur for her. She did feel guilty for having left with no letter, unfortunately her parents had started to become more serious with her education especially since she had her first experience with magic. That for the most part was normal, but Angel with all things considered, she was the type of girl who tends to get work in the way. Being studious was not for the weak of mind — one were to guess who's contradictory it would be the girl herself. Not ever compelled to converse in their own encounter. How strange.

The name seemed to hit him harder than he thought it would. Evan. How long had it been since someone had used his name? He laughed lightly; a warm laugh, one that brought about a loosening in his shoulders. For the first time in meeting her, he realized that the gap between then and now might not be as unbridgeable as he thought.

"I guess I deserved that..." he confessed, touching his hand to his head. "But I hope I have grown a bit." His smile lingered on before fading slightly. "You remembered."

It wasn't a question. In the child-like innocence of his tone, it seemed that he had managed to convince himself that those years belonged to him alone. Perhaps he had been the only one who carried them with him.

His eyes moved to the stone floor between them before moving back to her. He could see the slight smile, the hesitation behind the composed façade. She had not changed as much as she might have thought herself to have done. She still weighed each word before letting it out.

"I used to wonder..." he said softly, "if I had imagined it all." Those afternoons walking in the woods. The summers where time had somehow become too fast to be true. The conversations under the big oak tree. They were such alive moments in his mind that after all those years, it began to feel as if those memories did not belong to him at all, but to somebody else.

"When you stopped coming..." And he hesitated, choosing each word carefully. "I was thinking that maybe life had just taken you elsewhere. You were busy, then you had just forgotten me, and finally..." He made an embarrassed smile. "Finally, I have stopped guessing."

There was nothing in his voice that blamed. Just the quiet sad tone of a boy who waited for so long that waiting became something natural. "But looking at you here..." His eyes were now meeting hers, softer than earlier. "I'm glad we both have those memories."

For just a moment, the Great Hall with all its commotion became distant. "I'm not angry, Angel." His lips curved in another smile. "I don't think that I can be ...But I suppose I’ll always demand an explanation one day or another." These words contained just the faintest hint of mockery, reminiscent of the young man she had known all her life. Someone who, in spite of it all, had chosen to embrace her return.
