Crisp winds of breeze were leaking through the small paneled windows in the great hall this morning. Breakfast was big of course, all you can eat buffet one could thought. It was the first week of classes, Angel can't help but let out a sigh, everywhere she looked it seems as though she was the only one outside of a clique or group, friend group whatever it's called these days. Angel was not bothered in the slightest if she did have friends or not, but obviously it did bother her to a degree. A small circle of friends would be nice and it is better than having none at all. Being alone was fine she can survive without company, but of course being social was a plus.
Now although times had change and there is less likely to be bias or assumptions about anyone, don't judge a book by it's cover type thing, some people really don't help and show stereotypes that were supposed to be false were true because of them. Angel could not help but worry her being in a house with a bad reputation would not help her at all. Shrugging it off she did not think it was the case. Eating the scrambled eggs with toast and sausages. The flavours really come together.

The Great Hall felt quite alive this morning. Even as it was the first day everyone seemed quite familiar. Everyone she looked like they knew each other, even the first years like her who had just arrived for the first time at Hogwarts.
She glanced around the hall while buttering her toast, noticing the little clusters of students gathered around. Some were loud, some were whispering, but almost all of them had at least one person next to them. It was the first week of classes and even though she didn't want to think much about it, she felt strange at possibly having to sit alone.
Lily didn't mind being alone, she'd spend most of her day with books, outside of with her cat at home. Still, there was something a little lonely about being surrounded by so many people and not quite fitting into any groups yet.
A small group of friends would be nice. She finally tried her first bite of food and was amazed at how good it tasted. Scrambled eggs, toast and sausage, simple yet comforting and reliable. Maybe the day would end up being much the same. Ordinary, but not unpleasant as she was at Hogwarts and all would be exciting from here.✰ c'est la vie ✰

If overflowed with impeccable interest she noticed two girls who took their place at the table which stretched beyond the horizons and bandwidth. Sparking a speck of chat or another word was discussion was her own habit and she wanted to make use of it like so. The two girls looked and presented themselves as fairly amiable and not those types who'd be overbearing and taxing to be with for only a couple of seconds.
"Hey, I'm Angel, Angel Dayes." she replied to the question raised by the Gryffindor lass
"Yes, I am indeed a first year." she added
Although one could say this "conversation" looked a bit too viscous for it to conquer and continue on, it's longevity would be more in numbers rather than in appellations or words, as her father once said "If one were to keep the ball going then you must improvise your act." and she quote, so she made a firm decision to commit to making her own close circle for the rest of the year whether to survive or maybe to actually take pleasures of being in a enchanted academy. Her own attention and focused was swayed in another direction and a Slytherin girl was on her right side but perhaps much further in distance than the two lasses themselves. Angel leaned in and waved with of course, composure.
"Hey there! Would you like to come and join us over here if that's alright with you?" she smiled as her words bubbled like so.
She was getting eager to make her new allies, companions or friends. Yes, that word will do.

Lily was finishing up grabbing her food when she noticed the girl a little further down the table, on the other side. She recognized the red and gold attire and the first day jitters the girl portrayed. Lily has felt it herself on the train here and even in this moment.
Then Lily noticed the girl next to the Gryffindor, who waved for Lily to join them. Lily blinked in shock for a second, not sure if the invitation was really for her. She felt herself smile but on the inside her heart was beating a little faster. She smoothed out her robes unnecessarily and stood picking up her tray of food. Once she arrived near the girls, she sat down across from them in the empty spot on the bench, also noticing the girl that waved her down was a Slytherin just like her.
“Thanks for letting me join. I was just thinking I should probably talk to someone before I ended up having a conversation with my sausage.” The words came out in a rush as her nerves took over. But she noticed the two girls in front of her were smiling and looked more pleased than put off.
“I’m Lily, Lily Young. And if my nervous chatter wasn’t a straight give away, I’m a first year.” She spoke with a small laugh as she arranged her plate neatly in front of her.
From up close now, she couldn’t help taking in the two girls in front of her, something she found herself doing quite often. The Gryffindor girl had a warm smile and seemed to still be shaking off some first day jitters. Something Lily could relate to. Meanwhile, the Slytherin girl has an easy energy about her, that seemed to show how much she seemed certain they’d all be good friends right away.
For a moment, Lily’s eyes drifted around her to the rest of the hall. Many groups of older students were already laughing and talking as if they’d known each other their whole lives. And not far from her, a group of second years were already comparing timetables, pointing at classes they had together and groaning about some teachers or classes. She couldn’t help but imagine herself in a year having the same easy going energy with her own friends. She turned back to the two girls. “What about you both? I don’t think I caught your names.”
Lily hoped the school year would end up being like her favorite books, ordinary on the surface, but filled with amazing adventures. For her, people were always unpredictable and books were her safe place. But maybe, with these two girls, unpredictable wouldn’t be so bad. Maybe even an amazing thing.
