Pick a spot and just... stand there.
That's what he did. After wandering about the corridors of his old school, Hugh eventually decided on a nice open space in a corner. Somewhere he could lean on a lower banister or rest against a stone pillar. It had a decent enough aerial view out the window and clear sights down both hallways crossing his path.Who: Open to Career Day Participants
Once he decided the place was as good as any, he wrote the exact location (or description thereof) on the registry and left for people to find him. Trying to navigate the halls of Hogwarts and following his instructions would be a first test to see if this work was cut out for them.
The window sill was his first seat of the day. It was a nice hard stone one, not one of the fragile creaky wooden ones. To save himself the trouble of overly pointless and annoying questions like "Is this the right place for the guard position?" Or "Are you Hugh Lowe?" he had written a little sign and propped it up on a chair he dragged along with him. Students would find him waiting patiently with his arms crossed. Just a 'nice' giant figure looming in a dark corner as he stares down at anyone coming down either hallway.
He wasn't actually sure what he planned to tell them. All it really was was picking a spot, or sometimes even being assigned one, and just standing and keeping watch. There was of course, the tedious matter of security protocols, hazards of the job, payroll, shift lengths,... but which normal kid would be interested in that?

♥♥♥ Xiomara's career plans were pretty fixed. They had been since she found out about magic, really. She wanted to become Minister of Magic. Or uh Ministress? Was that a thing? If it wasn't, her first act as Minister could be to change the title to something else. Something cool. Either way, she was curious by the other job opportunities to see what was out there in the magical world and how she could make the world better when she was minister. Everything about the magical world made her so curious, and she was thrilled to actually be a part of it after thinking she would be a squib too.
Donning her school uniform, she found herself staring at the registry of different jobs before making her way over to the first one. Wondering through the halls and corridors, she made her way to this 'Hugh Lowe' guy that seemed to be listed as a guard. It sounded like a kind of boring job, like a security guard standing at Tesco's or something but maybe there was some cool magical element to it. She loved exploring the moving castle regularly so it was not particularly difficult to find her way here. What she did not expect, however, was a rather large figure in the dark. She jumped back a little, entirely taken back by the figure before slowly approaching to get a closer look. The height made it easy to spot the figure from a distance but she could not quite see any features from that distance.
"AH- Whose there? Who are you?" She demanded, slight fear echoing in her voice as she tried to put on a brave tone and stand. The figure looked huge!! A troll? She had no idea, she had never met one. Would be kind of cool though... Her gaze fell to a sign nearby that stated his name and role, "Oh wait - you're the guard? Bloody hell, you're tall!" She continued as though he would not have realised it himself! Xiomara had not quite had the privilege of meeting many part giants in her time - especially not an adult one that towered over the students here. He must have been like double her own height, maybe even more and he was still sitting down! Would his head hit on all of the ceilings like... all the time... if he stood up? One thing was for sure, there was no way this man would be able to visit her family home without breaking his head every two minutes or crashing into... well, everything. It must have been kind of hard. Wait, maybe that was why he was a guard - he was pretty scary looking! He could totally crush you with like one foot! "Wait, is that why you became a guard? Cos you're tall? I imagine that would be quite a good deterront-I mean- deterrent for thieves and robbers and stuff, yanno? Can you step on people? I imagine you'd be pretty heavy if you did. Like I dunno if they could stand up if you do that, you'd crush them, surely!" Yeah, she had no filter.

He was dressed in his uniform that day, consisting, as it usually had, of a robe with a Gryffindor sign, shirt, pants, shoes and tie, which was, as usual, hanging around his neck loosely, not really tied, let alone with a tie knot. But at least, today, it wasn't completely loose, as it had been on numerous opportunities in the past. He did not have his backpack with him that day, for he did not think he would need it. They were suppused to turn up and ask the adult presenting their job relevant questions, for which he would not need any other stuff than his brain and vocal chords.
Paul went down one of the two corridors visible for Hugh, until he came to their crossing and thus, approached him and a girl who was, apparently, also interested in the guard's job. His eyes landed on the man. He was very tall and muscular, he noticed. Paul wasn't exactly that sort of a human being, as he was sporty but slim and short. That, of course, had its perks. But scaring off the potential opponents (thieves, if necessary) was not one of them.
The boy stopped walking and looked up at Hugh. Whoa, this guy is tall. Ran through the boy's mind. "Mornin', Mr..." Paul looked around. There must be some info somewhere, right? A sign, or something. Where is... oh, there! Paul read the text on the chair quickly, coming up with a nonchalant, a bit apologetic, perhaps, grin. "Uh... Lowe. Paul Turner, first year, Gryffindor. Nice t'meetcha." Paul stretched his hand towards the man, to give a handshake.
"I'm thinkin' 'bout becoming a security guard or an Auror. What's the difference anyway? I mean, you do a lot of duelling against the thieves too, right? But, do you also like... have to find out who stole something, if someone manages to steal something, or is it just that you're... walking around the vaults, guarding them?" As well as Xiomara, Paul hardly ever filtered his speech, especially when there were relevant things on his mind that he wanted to ask. "And, what do you do with the thieves when you catch them? Can you arrest them or do you have to take them to the Aurors? You work at the Gringott's bank, right? How often do you have people who are stealing there? And how many of you, security guards, have to guard the place?

@Xiomara Torres & @Paul Turner
The first to appear at the end of one of two hallways was a little girl. She jumped at the sight of him, which was to him... not a great start. Then she followed with a classic age-old question in any good thriller: 'Who's there?' As if that ever worked in anyone's favor.
Maybe he ought to have put a sign at the start of each hall, or at the very least drawn bigger letters because the note was clearly not working as is. Was he the guard? Yes, he bloody hell was. This was exactly the type of stuff he wanted to avoid. She followed the instructions, trying to find him after all. So she knew very well who he was. However, the actual final straw was her thinking it wise to point out the giant's height.
"Are you daft?" Hugh grumbled, not rising from his position on the windowsill. With his arms still crossed, his face folded into disgust and disbelief. "What bloody idiot sees a tall person and thinks to themselves 'hmm, that's guard material right there!'" His eyes fell on the Ravenclaw crest on her uniform. And they were supposed to be the smart ones? He always knew that hat was full of it.
"But yeah... I'd crush them." He relented towards the end. Fair is fair. His natural strength and resilience did lend themselves well to the job.
He reconsidered his initial tone towards the girl. Before he was able to continue their conversation, however, a boy appeared behind her at the end of the hallway. The second of silence that followed his introduction in search of a name lasted one beat too long. Was it that hard to remember the name 'Lowe' for the duration of one trip through the corridors?
For a first-year cub, the kid came prepared. He needed to learn to breathe while having a conversation, though. After a whole lot of rambling, the giant put his hand up. Hugh's fingers counted along as he clarified.
"One. Yes, the job's mostly walking around the vaults. Maybe even just standing there for hours. Like literally, you pick a spot and just... stand there." His second finger jolted up.
"Second. Each guard has their own ways of handling the job. It's the recruiter's job to figure out if you are what the company needs right now." Compared to the many goblins in Gringotts' underground, Hugh's physical strength was a significant outlier. "I think it's good to specialize in something. Makes you unique and something to look out for."
The third finger followed. "Third." His eyes focused on the boy to see if he was still following. "Running investigations is part of the Gringotts job, yes. It is our job to sniff out possible breaches and prevent all sorts of schemes from happening."
"Four." His fourth finger shot up. "Of course we arrest, but as you say, we hand them over to the Ministry for trial. Ministry jurisdiction within Gringotts is a bit foggy. But let's say Gringotts likes to handle its Ministry affairs at the door."
The final finger popped up. "Five. Not that many people dare to try; dragons and trolls are usually a good deterrent. That's not even counting the shit-ton of goblins swarming the place, and me, of course." He crossed his arms again and leaned back against the window. The giant offered the boy a little impressed nod. Not a bad kid. He might have a good head on his shoulders with questions like these.
"I know the Aurors got the flashy jobs. But don't underestimate a good guard."

Paul, quite awkwardly, watched Mr. Lowe have a bit of what seemed to be an angry answer to Xiomara's words. The truth was that Mr. Lowe was really tall, even for a basketball player... Perhaps, he should help Xiomara out of the unfortunate situation by asking if he played basketball? Then again though, to Paul, it didn't seem appropriate. He was an adult, apparently a quite sullen one, for which Paul tended to have respect. There also was the fact that Mr. Lowe must have been really good at Duelling, being a security guard, so... no, disrespecting him was a no-go.
Wait, there are these huge humanoids in magical world, right? We talked about them in DADA, they're called trolls! He could be half a troll. There are half-fairies, so why not half- trolls? Wait, aren't they dumb? Paul, that's stupid. Why on earth would a human being have a kid with someone as dumb as a troll? -Well, as my grandma says, beauty is in the eye of the beholder...
"Uhm... I'm sure she didn't mean to disrespect you, Mr. Lowe." Paul tried to help, trying to sound as sympathet as possible. "I'm sure she only brought up your height and... uhm, body built, to get to know your motivation for the job."
If this was an episode of a cartoon series, Paul would be on a kayak, a huge wave taking him far away from the mainland, so he'd be trying to row at ridiculous velocity to get back.
Turner listened to Mr. Lowe's answers and took mental notes to bring up to discussion to his separate answers.
"Standing there for hours... isn't it, I dunno... boring, perhaps?" Asked the boy, having chosen his words carefully. "So, what do ya do when ya stand there? Have ya treid to, leik, guess what keind of people come in? Ya must know people well, if ya have..." My, that's what I'd totally do, if I were standing there for hours! Thought the boy. When he was speaking, his Scotish accent came to introduce itself to Mr. Lowe and Xio.
"Specialeiz', like... hm," Paul thought about it for a few secs, tapping his chin. "In certain kind of spells in duelling? Or, generally, some of you in duelling, others in... uhm, checking the protection system, or something?" Asked Paul, waving his hands around, perhaps, too much. "Um... I don't wanna query, but wha' is it you specialeiz' in, Mr. Lowe?"
As the answer to Paul's third question came, Paul's eyes widened and the boy opened his mouth, through which a "whoa" came. "B-breaches and schemes... whoa! What was the last scheme that you had to investigate?"
Question four aspired to be less interesting than question three, yet, according to the answer provided, several ideas anchored in Paul's mind. "Is there some sort of prison in Gringotts then? You... uhm, if the Ministry doesn't intervene, then ya interrogate the culprits there too, right? Do you also use some-" Disrespectful alert, I repeat, disrespectful alert! Paul, shut up right now about the ways of interrogation! Well, I can't! I'm really interested in this! Sorry!
"Uhm, if you, people, prefer to solve the trouble with the culprits behind a closed door within the bank, can you use some... uh, how to say it? Eh, not so legal... ways?" He started blushing almost immediately after he pronounced it.
As Mr. Lowe joked about the thieves having to get past himself, Paul grinned, nodding. "Of course! Wouldn't want to piss the dragons, trolls, or, god forbid, you!" After that, Paul sighed, but then, he realized Mr. Lowe said dragons and Paul himself repeated it. "Wait, d-dragons?" The boy's eyes went wide with shock.

♥♥♥ Xiomara frowned at him before shaking her head towards the younger boy who was talking about disrespect. Nothing she said was disrespectful in her opinion. She was just being honest, "NUH UH! I'm not daft! I'm a Ravenclaw! I'm like super wise and stuff. But naaaaah, I don't think using your physical abilities to their full potential is a very daft thing to do!" She responded with a firm nod, sticking to her original assessment, "If you're admitting you could crush someone then like part of that is because you're literally a giant. You're not just tall, you're broad and probably weigh like... a thousand times more than the average criminal," She added, clearly math was not her strong point, "And I think that would be pretty scary to someone. Like, they'd have to think, could I outrun someone whose stride was more than twice mine? What if they grabbed me? Would my arm break? Yanno? Being tall also means you can see stuff more easily so like, if someone was pocketing something, you could see them over the counters and uh shelves or whatever," She added, thinking of a supermarket and how the giant would probably tower over them like a very useful security camera.
She didn't think she would be a very good guard... Xiomara paused as she listened to the other boy talk, asking lots of questions that seemed kind of important. This guard gig sounded kind of boring though. Standing around for hours? At least the walking part was exploring and potentially fun but if you were walking the same area over and over, that sounded boring. But dragons and trolls caught her attention. She hadn't met either of those!!
Aurors also sounded like a good job. Maybe she needed to find one of those. "I dunno... could someone small be a guard?" She mumbled softly, doubling down on this as she pondered if she could be one. She was of average height, sure but there would be a lot more stocky and taller criminals than she would be. Plus, she wasn't the best at magic. She was good at... transfiguration, she supposed, "Wait, can you turn the criminals into ferrets?" She asked, wondering how much magic you could use in this job, "And these dragons and trolls... do you get to hang out with them? They sound kind of cool," She added.
