Poison Dart Frog vs. Suriname Grasshopper
Cecilia never considered herself to be an adept caster. It was more often than not that unfolded whenever she drew her wand and by now, her mind was wired to function like a Quidditch player who resorted to brute force or underhanded tactics to turn the tide.
Yet when she saw that tall boy, she felt fairly certain that his defence was akin to an iron wall. With that observation came the realisation that neither of the usual methods would be a viable option. For a moment, other boy caught her eye; he was bright and nimble and much like a falling star, he disappeared in a flash.
A loud thud then drew her attention.
In that split second where she diverted her gaze, Erast Yan had been pinned to the floor by the other boy. Oops. The poor boy simply could not catch a break. She almost felt bad for dragging him here, but the tackle was executed so brilliantly that she almost applauded the boy. Almost.
Instead, Cecilia drew her wand and spoke: “Tantallegra.” As expected, the boy was not pleased to be subjected to the jolly jig and shouted at her. To which she replied: “No can do, patience is not exactly my forte.”
Her attention then turned to her old friend.
“Anytime ~” Cecilia held her thumbs up, beaming as her lips stretched into a wide grin. She could no longer conceal her amusement.

The ray of sunshine kept showering them, maybe a bit too passionately. Leo had come to help her. “Thank you a lot, Leo.” She turned her head to the boy and said it. She gradually got used to the weather, although the heat didn’t reduce at all. Sweat dripped from Rosaline’s forehead to her delicate chin. She wiped them with her hand. This was so not her. But she couldn’t care less at this moment.
With the rustling sounds of leaves and footsteps, Rosaline perked up. The upcoming danger made the adrenalin run through her blood vessels. Her gaze was sharp, her muscles tensed. Unexpectedly, there came a boy… or he could be called a teenager, if judged by his figure; she hadn’t met him before the game. What happened to the other American boy? She wondered. The light blond hair indicated his possible origin. He looked very much like a Viking man. Rosaline wasn’t someone who would be afraid. She stepped forward and tried her best to tackle the boy. Guess what? She couldn’t move him a bit at all. She stepped back immediately, cautious. The boy seemed to be angry about her action at first, then his threat turned into a smirk. Rosaline gave him a confused expression.

actions- doing as strategizedGet the flag. Get the flag. Get the flag. The flag the flag the flag-- had become Sage's mantra. Once her hands were around it, her eyes set on the waving fabric, she could be calm again. What was it about competitions that made her so set on winning? Maybe it was the fear she'd let everyone down if she didn't perform correctly.
It hadn't been long into the game, but Sage had already decided she hated jungle weather. How long until her poofing hair blocked her sight? She sighed heavily and kept pushing forward.
Trees, trees, oh, look! another tree! And-- WAIT! Sage audibly gasped, sprinting as hard as she could towards the Grasshopper's flag. She could imagine how stupid she must look, jumping and screaming at the top of her lungs as she tried to get her team's attention. Had she really done it?
"Holy shit," she whispered to herself. "Guys! Poison Dart Frogs! The flag's over here! Run, run, run! Come on, we've got to hurry!"
A smile split so wide across her face it hurt, but the enjoyment didn't last long. She went flying across the field, thorns digging into her skin as she landed. Stupid Flipendo! She grunted at the pain, mentally cursing the boy who'd aimed his wand at her. Sage rolled over in the dirt and brushed off the scars bruising her ego thanks to the hit.

He also witnessed that a girl tackled his blue-haired teammate. „Ouch!“ Alright, I am not going to ask her if she is okay. She is not. I would not be if I were in her shoes... ran through his mind. And, as he happened to be around, he made the first step towards her, but then, he noticed there were other people around her; a boy and a girl. So he chose not to intervene and rather back off, to check how the flag was doing.
What he witnessed then, was rather violent. Paul flipped a girl away from the flag. He frowned. Dude, that wasn’t nice. She’s a girl and you... you shouldn’t treat girl like that. True, but the girl was from the opposing team and the rule didn’t really apply to the opposing team, had it?
Why on earth are there so many of them in this zone? Can’t they just... I dunno, go away? It was necessary for him to do something to help his teammates. He would not be able to fall asleep tonight if he didn’t.

26TH OF JUNE, 2026 IN THE JUNGLE ARENA
MODERATION — ROUND FOUR.
As the game proceeded into the new round, things had began to move with rapidly, much to Meiyu's delight. Fredrick and Jude, clearly suffered from the scouring heat in zone three, unable to acclimatise in comparison to their teammates who sought to inflict physical damage on one another rather than fixating on the purpose of the game. In the same time where Skylar had attempted to relocate her team's flag, Fredrick had succeeded in grabbing the opposing team's flag.
"FREDRICK SUCCESSFULLY GRABS THE FLAG, FIVE POINTS TO THE POISON DART FROG TEAM!" Meiyu beamed with excitement, fortunately bringing the game to a closer end. Sage had also succeeded in a defensive measure, blocking any harm from her teammate while two others fixated on offensive actions — Ilias succeeding in his cast at a Sneezing Hex directed at Skylar, leaving the poor girl a mess, and Valour tackling Paul to the coarse ground, surely leaving some scratches against his skin upon contact with the branches below.
Yet, the opposing and losing team, refused to go down without an evidential fight, Skylar counter-acting her own attack with a spell directed towards Ilias, leaving his feet moving with a mind of their own as he danced the round away. The lone wolf Damien, succeeding in his own cast and leaving Rosaline sneezing away in zone two — oddly eventful despite her other teammates left standing around as their intended targets moved swiftly away into zone three.

HOW TO PLAY
The game ends when either team successfully retrieved the other teams flag to their base. Team Poison Dart Frog will be starting the game in Zone 1 and Team Suriname Grasshopper will be in Zone 4 at the opposite end of the arena. There will be at most 10 rounds, each requiring a post of 200+ words. Please make sure you include your character's stats in your post.
During the first round only, each team must state which zone their flag is hidden in to the thread moderator. You may chose to hide the flag in any of the 4 zones. The flag remains in that zone unless successfully discovered or moved through gameplay mechanics. Do not reveal in game where the flag is located.
Each round, everyone in the team must make at least one action from the Capture the Flag actions list, unless they are unable to act due to a status effect or restriction. These actions are zone dependent. The team scores points by making successful flag actions or interceptive actions towards a flag carrier. Please note that players may only move between adjacent zones and cannot skip zones while travelling.
At the conclusion of each round, the zone state map will be updated to reflect all player locations. Players may only target characters who are in the same zone as them at the end of the previous round. If a target moves out of the zone during the following movement phase, the action automatically fails, with the exception of Flag Intercept and non-magical support actions that include a chase mechanic. When performing these actions, the player automatically follows the target into the destination zone as part of the interaction.
If the action fails while chasing, the pursuing player is left behind in the original zone while the target successfully gains distance.
Rules regarding roll resolution, action priority, and other game mechanics can be found HERE.
At least one member of the team must owl the entire teams' action list to @Meiyu Xiang before the posting deadline.

──────xABILITIES.I had no idea where the goddamn flag was. After Sky's little scare, and checking if she was okay, I decided to keep looking for the goddamn flag.
I knew it was here, somewhere. I could almost feel it. But where? Where in this saints forsaken, wet, beautiful yet dangerous place? Ugh, they must be really good at camouflage, because I hadn't seen that stupid flag in a while. The desperation, plus the fact that I hadn't eaten a proper breakfast, was making me believe maybe their flag was invisible. Or maybe they didn't have a flag at all. Or maybe someone hid it on top of some tree or something. Or-
I saw a flag. OUR flag. In the hands of- who was that? I don't care. He was carrying OUR flag. No way. How- when did this happen?
I can't keep searching for a flag that could be easily part of my imagination. I have to do something. But what? Give the alert? Someone already made the big announcement for us.
"Oh, fuck me!" Another curse. If dad was listening to me right now, he'd make me wash my mouth with soap, as if I hadn't heard him curse his entire bloodline every time he burned himself with oil at the kitchen, but oh, well.

"Dammit... bloody sweltering!" Paul took a deep breath, as the temperature started to rise. In a bit, he was sweating, attempting to wipe the drops from his forehead with the back of his hand. Yet, he wasn't taking it quite as bad as Jude, who seemed to be more than exhausted.Date: 26th June 2026

Bloody hell, has someone got water? Jude looks like he needs it. Give the poor guy some water, or he's gonna suffer! Ran through his mind.
Unfortunately, what happened then, was a situation that dragged all Paul's attention. Jude failed in defending the flag, and the guy from the opposing team managed to grab it.
"Shoot!" Paul forced out, gripping his wand more firmly. He was actually going to help Jude get the flag back, however, he was stopped by an illegal tackle. "Uh!" Did he huff, as he fell to the ground. There were branches beneath him, which left scratches on the backside of his thighs and under his knees. Then, he looked up, ready to see the individual who fouled him. That's gonna be someone huge and strong, for sure.
"Y-you?! What the heck?" When his eyes landed on a rather slim, short girl, he was surprised. "Ugh!" Said the boy, frowning at @Valour Argentum, as if he were a mythological god of revenge, or something.
"Fucking hell! Somebody - achoo! - stop him!"
"Uh!" He heard Sky's shriek, and tried to get up as quickly as possible. Stopping Frederick was a good idea, of course. Unless there was something else, more beneficial he could do...

Jude stumbles through the zone as chaos happens around him. He was suffering from the awful heatwave, sweat running down his face and back. His mind felt like it was stuffed with cotton as he tried to make sense of everything, his normally agile movements becoming clumsy and slow. He could not help but feel homesick for England, the cool weather there sounding much more appealing than the sweltering heat of South America. However, he was not able to dwell on his misfortune for long before hearing that the other team had spot their flag.Jude - NPC for Artie Kempston

"Oh for Merlin's sake..." Jude groans as he hurries over to the flag, trying to shake off the sluggishness he has been feeling. He pumps his arms faster as he spots their flag, but he was already too late. A member of the opposing team had already grabbed their flag and is making a run for it. His other team members began yelling out commands and directions, something along the lines of "get him!" and "don't let him leave the zone!"
Jude winces has he sees his other team members getting tackled and hexed. Everyone seems to just be resorting to fouls now. A part of him wished he never signed up for the game, but his heart knows the reason why. It was for a stupid reason, perhaps one that might just be fantasy. He had secretly hoped to see a close friend of his again, a friend from far away. He had hoped to see him in this international event, but that is just wishful thinking. What are the chances that he will actually meet-
Jude stops abruptly in his tracks as he catches sight of a familiar head of blond. Could it be? Sure enough, the hulking figure crashing through the trees was the Norwegian Viking he calls his friend. A wide grin spreads across Jude's face as he sees him, his previous exasperation now replaced with excitement.
"Haaland! You came!"

The decision was made in seconds. Without thinking twice, true to his impulsive nature, Frederick sprinted toward the opposing team's flag. His eyes were fixed solely on his objective, his mind ordering his body to move as fast as possible. Something in that forest clearly didn't want to let the boy have his way. The humid, sticky heat seemed determined to slow him down, making sweat bead on his forehead and trickle down the side of his face. Even battered and exhausted, Fred didn't stop running.
Out of the corner of his eye, Buckley noticed that his team had sprung into action as well. He dodged trees and roots and, thanks to Sage, several attacks that had almost certainly been aimed at his back. Closer and closer. Frederick repeated his goal like a mantra as he ran and dodged, finally reaching the flag and yanking it from the ground by its pole with his right hand. "We've got the flag!" He raised it high above his head, turning to locate his allies, only to find the arena filled with new opponents who had fallen back to defend their treasure. There was no time for hesitation. Run, and the beast gets you. Stay, and the beast eats you. The game had reached its climax and he nodded approvingly at his allies, preparing himself for whatever came his way.
