Home sweet home

Millie woke up early today. It's almost a month after her coming back home during this year's summer holiday. At first, she'd happy spending time with her parents again. Moreover, Mr. Hobkin now becoming a part of the family too, although the only thing he can do beside sleeping and eating is squeaking.

———Now, she got bored. There, she realized, after she went to Hogwarts, many and vary things she can do compared to what she could here in her home. Thus, make her wondering: what she usually does before? Reading. She has read all the books she owns. Will buy more later when her Ma going to the city. Hunting wild berries. She did that yesterday, from dawn 'till dusk. Playing with her Pa's cattle. Emm, one of the cow, got sick after her calving didn't go smoothly.

———The girl let out a long, tired sigh. She flopped down to the couch, causing Mr. Hobkin who lazily laying down on it jumped and widen his eyes open, squeaking angrily.

———"Noisy," she stated while looking at the ferret. "My boredom won't just go away simply by hearing you squeaking at me, okay?"

———"You bored? If so, give me a hand, would you?"

———Millie swiveled her neck, looking at her father who stood still just behind the window. She shifted the curtain to the side, now clearly see why he just stood there by how dirty his boots and shirt is. The girl automatically pursed her lip to hold her laughter, but the father already knew what she thinking with how he sighed after that.

———"Get me my journal and phone in the study, please?" he asked while her daughter stand up from the couch, accompanied by the ferret who jumped to his owner's shoulder. "I'm not sure where I put it last, but I'm sure you knew what it's looked like, right?"

———She just nod, secretly rolled her eyes once she climbed upstairs. Her bedroom just a few step in the right, while her parents' on the other side. The study, however, just straight beside her parent's room, being secluded corner in this floor.

———The door creaked open. Blinding sunlight immediately welcoming her from the open window just in front of the door. Almost immediate as the light coming into her eyes, she found that leather journal on the desk and the phone on the cabinets. Stepping inside, she grabbed his father's things and closed her short errand for today.

———However, when she turned around, she didn't expected there was one cardboard box which was lying tilted on another box. She bumped it and makes the contents inside scattered all around the wooden floor. She just relief there was no fragile things inside. Only books and papers that has yellowed with age. There are some photos too, as old as the papers, but with faces she didn't recognize.

Image posted by the member———"S. Annhomestorn? My ancestor?" she muttered under her breath looking at the scribble on the back of one black and white photo. A quite young man. Probably around early 20's. A candid catch. Looking at god-knows-what in that forest background. The clothes he wearing is a simple and not that too old style. Not too long ago, then. Maybe still around 1900's? "Is this my great-granpa Papa told me about?"

———With a new curiosity come in mind, Millie hurriedly went back downstairs. Her father still in his former position, smiling appreciatively while receiving his belongings from his daughter.

———"Than—"

———"Papa! Is this my great-granpa you told me about?"

———Surprised by her sudden raising voice, the father took a step back while a photo shoved into his peripheral. Adjusting his glasses, he looked at the photo and give a quick nod, "Yes, it is."

———As that being said, she asked for more deeper and thorough digging about this ancestor of her. She only know one and two briefly info about this. She demanded more. She wanted know more about him, the other wizard born within her family, how he lived his life. It was just very unfortunate she couldn't asked this directly but with this files his father had. Until she got an approval from her father, she rushed upstairs once more, now with more determined than before.

———Inside the box, it's actually more than a ton of yellowed papers and parchments Millie just shifted with her fingers, that she found it quite a long moment until she found something different in the bottom.

———Leather notebook, quite looked alike as her own but slightly bigger and thicker. Small pouches, seems empty. Wood chips, huh. And, uh ... dried herb?

———I wonder if it was great-granpa himself who put all of this.

———Like it tempting her to take it and read what written inside, Millie took the notebook and tried to untie the knot securing it. But, unfortunately, to no avail. It won't undone no matter how much strength she put on it or even when she used something sharp to loose or cut it. She clicked her tongue in frustration. Put the notebook on the floor while she regaining her drained energy.

———Out of sudden, her lamp of idea shine brightly. She widen her eyes, and then quickly gathered all of the things including the cardboard box so that she can bring it to her room.

———"Please, be it right," she muttered once she was in her room. Now busy rummaging her desk, looking for her wand. Once the wooden thing already in her grip, she took back his great-granpa tight knot locked notebook and chanted one of the spells she had learnt, still with doubt and uncertainty with her own assumption. "Alohomora?"

———It works.

———The knot loose. The book opened.

———Blinking her eyes, she put aside her wand as her focus now solely on his great-granpa's secret notebook that he even secured it with charm. Her heart thumping like crazy, still didn't believe that it was true. About his great-granpa, and about her assumption of how to open his notebook.

———The very first page she saw when she flipped open this so called his great-granpa diary is a rough sketches of ... magical creatures? She wasn't sure. Millie doesn't know much yet about them since the subject related to it only available for the third year student. And besides, this sketch is really ... rough, that Millie would likely asked him herself (if only he were still alive) if he drew this when he was idle or he just don't have the skill.

———"Luckily, his writing is much better than his drawing," she hold her chuckle as she looked down at a neat cursive on the bottom page. It reads not far from home: III, lake: VII. Her brow furrowed. "It's liked he really were looking on it seriously."

———Millie flipped for another pages. And another pages. Just like any ordinary daily journal. In some entries he writing about doxy, pixie, and fairy. Another entries about his journey and quite wild adventures with these Cal and/or Finn gentlemen. While the rests is just some short count (just like she saw in the first page) accompanied with a strange words and names she couldn't tell what was it about.

———Nearly reaches the last pages, she suddenly pulled her hand off when she felt something different on the paper's surface she just flipped. When she looked at it more closely, she frown as she saw an earthy stain like mud splattered in that one particular page. Dated March 1941.

Ed has been ended.
What a bloody hell indeed.
As much as I hate him, he didn't deserves that. Too cruel. Too egoistical.
His sweetie scratcher safe with me. That, at least, the last thing I can do to help covered him up.

That Vlad bloke heard of it and offered me a shelter in his place, saying it would be a lot safer. I believe him, but I don't know what would happen if I actually go there. Father died in the war. I don't want to end up the same way as him and turn out the 'like father like son'. That would sound absolutely ridiculous. And Mum would surely disown me before I took that stupid step. So I turned down that Russky fellow's offer, cutting off all contact with him (even though I don't want to) for our own good.

Somewhat, Cal & I got a bit of luck and has been hiding like a nasty rat here for ... I lost count. No idea where Finn is. Only know he's still breathing with his number still counting even when I write this. If until dawn (about 7/8 hours from now) he still out of reach, Cal swear he will get out of here, find him, and finished him by himself if what we're most afraid of turn out to be true.
You really must come back here quick Finn since you knew how wild your cousin turned out when he's in rage. Really.

As for me, I'd still have much confident that I'll make this out. I'd bet for my G50 saving.
———Millie frown even more. She didn't find any follow-up notes after that date besides more and more questionable count-number, even until she reached the last page.
