Like OMG, London is like... the best!

A few of the girls had broke away from the wizard pack, they were going to explore muggle London. The real muggle London. The actual stadium was not terribly far away and sure there was a teacher-driven activity that would have brought the girls to 'muggle London' but they were not interested in an academic lecture. They wanted to experience the city. Not that any of them knew each other (probably), but they had the same idea at the same time.

The rain might have been why Shymane left the darkness. Her porcelain skin would not tolerate a day in direct sunlight. An umbrella perhaps to shade her as well as an overcast sky. It was only a drizzle presently but the rumbling celestial space and the blackened heavens suggested a stronger storm was coming.

The blonde was not carrying an umbrella, she seemed to be enjoying the rain. She was casually dressed, appropriate for the weather and the setting. She looked like a muggle in all regards less the fact that they saw her sneak away from the stadium. The stadium hidden from muggles and squibs, there was no way either would escape (or enter for that matter) on their own. She would notice the girls that followed her, well perhaps they were following her but maybe they were just seeing the sights. "Like hi," she announced as she stopped in her tracks and ran her manicured fingers through her hair. "From the stadium too?" She gave them a toothy smile, of course they were from the stadium. She was blonde but she was not stupid.

"I think I heard it somewhere that it always rains in London," she commented. "I wonder how true that is," she added. Sure it was raining, one of the locals mentioned that it 'always rained' which might be true but at least the rain was warm. It meant that the streets were theirs. The wide walkways were pleasant to walk. Traffic appeared to be a bit congested, had the blonde been new to muggle cities it would be a curious sigh to see so many cars. She was more interested in the shops, there were lots of shops and there were so many places to eat. She would stop in front of a window, a bakery. Carbs were totally her weakness. No, no... she was watching her waistline but the conflict in her heart was obvious.

"What are you guys doing out here?"
This is simply an entry thread.

London. It was weird to be here during school days. Usually she only came here during the days when she was at home. Because well. London was where she grew up. Most of the streets looked familiar to her and made her feel safe. She knew some nooks and crannies after all. Maybe that was the reason why Nico felt rather confident to go have a look around by herself. That was the plan. But a few other girls seemed to have the same idea. Were they from London too? The weather was perfect. It had been a while since it rained and the dhampir saw this as an opportunity to humbly show off her new umbrella. A pattern of beautifully coloured koi fish, swimming in a sea of dark blue, shielded her from the mild shower that fell from the sky.

Dressed for the occasion, the redhead had checked the weatherreports and had tried her best to look rather fashionable but also cosy to endure the showers that were most likely to follow. Her hair had grown longer and was wrestled into a long braid, resting on her left shoulder down onto her chest. Wearing a light-blue coat with black shorts, grey tight overlayed by black knee high boots.

She ddin't know the other girls but one of them stopped and adressed them. A blonde girl. Asking them if they came from the stadium aswell. Nico only nodded softly, not sure if she had seen this girl before or not... There was something very generic about her. Bland. They walked together for abit and stopped when she did. Right infront of a bakery. Oh gosh. It smelled so nice! Nico took a deep rbeath, inhaling the sweet scent of freshly baked bread. A low rumble echoed from her stomach, making her cheeks flush red. Hopefully.. no one heard that.

'E-Ehm... Well. I kinda know my way through London. My house isn't that far from here. You just need to take one bus and you're there. I needed a little break from the big school crowd...' Her eyes turned abit gloomy, looking past the blonde. The dhampir hadn't been feeling so well in her own skin. So many things happened and all she wanted was to take a breather.

'How about you? Who are you? I don't think we've met..?' Nico almost didn't dare to ask but it wasn't common that a stranger would just walk up to them and ask where they came from. Unless.. she truly was friendly.

So... London, huh. Dealla could only remember being here twice, not counting arriving and departing at King's Cross with the Hogwarts Express, and once had been to do her school shopping at Diagon Alley. The other time had been a few years ago, when Dealla was 8 years old, and her mother had finally insisted on taking her to see her maternal grandparents, despite her father's protests.

Now, considering Dee's distinct lack of interest in Quidditch and her very pronounced tendencies to explore, whether she was supposed to or not, it was not a big surprise that she had spotted an opening to slip away from the group, and promptly taken it.
She had had that very vague plan of finding her Muggle grandparents and visiting them while she was here for a while, but while she would have preferred to sneak off with one of her friends, the opportunity had been too good to let pass.
It was only after she had left the area around the Quidditch Stadium that she had realized that she had no clue where exactly in London she was - or where her grandparents lived. And, well, London was quite a bit bigger than Whitehaven, that was for sure.

But anyway! That just meant she would have to return to see that plan through at some point in the future, and who was she to waste a perfectly fine chance to explore Muggle London?
Granted, the weather wasn't perfect, Dee hadn't had an umbrella at hand when she had spontaneously started this adventure, so she only could only pull the hood of her oversized pastel pink hoodie up to cover her brown locks, but that didn't mean she couldn't have a good time. There were only a handful of people out on the streets in the rain, a few girls near her, who Dealla dimly remembered to - probably - be Hogwarts students as well. She didn't think she had talked to any of them before.

Dealla was still busy looking around and trying to see if she recognized anything from her previous visit - unlikely, it had been years ago, and London was huge - when the blonde girl turned to talk to her and the others.
Dee bobbed her head in confirmation, then shrugged lightly. The memories of the trip with her mum were ones of sunshine and ice cream. "I don't think it rained last time I was here," she said, catching a drop of rain on her palm. It was only a drizzle, and if it stayed this way, there was no big risk of getting soaked. "So probably not very true. Maybe people who like to complain just remember the rainy days better."

Her bright blue eyes lit up when the pretty red-head mentioned knowing her way around. "Oh! So you know where we are? Maybe you could show us around! Are there interesting things to see near here?" She suspected she might be coming on a bit strong - after all, they were strangers, hadn't even introduced themselves yet - but there was little she could do about the sense of adventure bubbling in her chest. Well, at least the introductions were something she could fix. "I'm Dee, by the way. What are your names?"

Still going on the theme of feeling completely uneasy but going through with decisions that made her question her self-preservation, Maria and two other girls were now exiting the London Quidditch Stadium. Normally she would feel anxious, straying from the group to go wander around, but this time she curiosity get the better of her. While she had full intentions of supporting her Huffing brethren, the possible of a new adventure outside the pitch was all too appealing. Plus, it wasn’t like she couldn’t handle getting around on her own, given she was only twelve, but she was a strong, independent, twelve year old, and armed with her wits and her usually reliable intuition.

It was a gloomy day in the city, small raindrops occasionally coming down on them. It made Maria thankful that she had opted for a warmer outfit today, and that she habitually liked to carry and umbrella. She noticed one of her companions was about her age, with brown wavy hair while the other girl, a pale red head who she recognized from the Slytherin Quidditch team looked to be a little older. Another girl, a familiar face was walking ahead of them, also from the Stadium. Her train of thought was interrupted when she started talking. The blonde was type of person who enjoyed the use of the word “like”, it seemed.

“Um, yes, we came out of the Stadium too.” Came her reply. Where had she seen her? She was sure she had seen her before. Then she started to talke about the rain. Was she okay? The girl Maria’s closer to Maria in age responded for them.

When blondie asked what they were doing out in the streets, it was the older red-head who spoke first. Oh, so she was a London native, best to stick around her then. The brown-haired girl perked up at the new development, hoping to get some information out of the pale girl.

“I-I just wanted to explore the area too, actually. I mean watching my housemates are friends playing is great and all, but who knows if we’d get another chance to be here?” The Hufflepuff shared, still wearily eyeing the blonde. Brown-haired girl then introduced herself as Dee. Maria couldn’t help but smile a little at the coincidence. “I’m Maria. ”

They did not know it but they had stumbled upon more than a simple shopping trip. The girl's name was Marion Davenport, she was a third year Slytherin who had garnered a great deal of interest these part few months. A witness in the Dolores Umbridge murder, she had been the focus of several interested Slytherins. Not to say she was completely innocent of wrong-doing, but the experiences over the past few months of her school year had changed her. Not for the better.

Yes, she was still thin, tall, blonde and pretty. She knew how to smile and she did often. She was not clever or strong, she often wished she was. But she had her uses, she could help. Primarily, it was an outing. Her pockets heavy with muggle coin, she entered an ice cream shop and ordered soft-serve from a window. Orange-vanilla, it was her favorite. She ordered four, passing the cones to the girls. "I am Mary," she announced as she took a refreshing lick of her ice cream cone. "Have you ever been to muggle London?" It was nearly a two hour drive from her family flat in Thetford, but she had been to London several times. "They have some of the best shoes," she gushed.

Of course she was not out here for a new pair of boots, not entirely. She was more interested in getting a better pair of gladiator sandals. Well, that and the bookstore. She scanned the street, there were not a lot of muggles on the street today. Good, she was not going to a muggle store. She took a lick from her cone and stopped in front a gated alleyway. The wrought iron gate was locked with a large padlock. She would fondle the lock in her hands and then knock on the face of the lock with her non-dominant hand.

The iron gates would groan and stretch, the wall now an archway. The entrance into a.... bookstore. The bookstore itself, long with tall shelves and greenery that has been allowed to climb and grow over the books.

The setting had a number of customers already inside. Some part-giants, some part-goblin and others still reminiscent of dhampir perhaps. There were a few that looked 'normal' for a lack of a better descriptor. They were chatting, drinking coffee and writing on great white picket boards.
I can't believe I still have to protest this shit.
Humanity is doing better than wizardkind.
I am a squib son of a wizard a person.
I am rather miffed.
Yes, it was a protest movement. If the girls followed her inside, she would look back at them and take another lick of her cone. "Not sure if you want to be here," she was not kicking them out but she was not encouraging their entry either. "But if you want to, take a seat and grab a glitter stick."

Yes, she was making picket signs.

The brunette girl, who Nico faintly remembers from the Secret Ball incident, was rather glad to hear that the redhead knew her way pretty well in this neighborhood. The dhampir wasn't used to the kind of enthusiasm this girl beamed at her, causing the young prefect to blush ever so slightly. 'I-...Well, there are a few nice spots to picnic. Not far from here. Sadly with the weather we're having, I don't think it's a good idea to go sit in... wet grass.' Her hands gripping on the handle of her umbrella, her thumbs tapped in a random rhythm against it as she imagined her clothes getting slowely soaked. Yeah. That would have to wait for another trip to Muggle London.

As the others introduced themselves, Nico couldn't help but smile a lil. They were so polite and kind. The redhead would nearly forget there actually were some nice people out there... Then again, they were out of school at this moment and they probably didn't know she was a Prefect since they both were mose likely from a different house. Other than some events, she hadn't seen these girls before. 'I'm Nico. Nice to meet you.' She'd tilt her head slightly, amplifying her soft smile. Maybe these little schoolskip trip wouldn't be so bad.

However, Nico felt a certain unsetteling tingle when the blonde girl introduced herself as Marion. Wasn't she... the girl who... At the spider incident. Her pale face turned cold. Maybe it was too obvious, she'd just hope Marion didn't notice it, nor if the others would. What was she doing out here...? Then again, what was she doing out here, herself. The blonde had given them an ice cream, her treat. Curiously, the dhampir sniffed the sweet treat. The smell itself wasn't so strong as its taste. Orange. And... maybe a hint of vanilla? She wondered if Quinn would like this flavour. He smelled like oranges after all. Reminded her of summer.

The young prefect was abit afraid of answering Marions question but she did it anyway. 'Well... I occasionally walk by here with my parents do some regular shopping. Not as regularly like we used to but, I know this street.' She finished with a nod before letting her tongue slide across the cone. Stopping drips of melting ice cream from falling on her pretty clothes.

Nico couldn't quite remember when they decided, collectively, to follow this random other student. Maybe because they felt safer this way. That was most likely the case for Maria and Dee. They both seemed to have barely any idea on how to navigate through Muggle London. Because of that, her prefect instincts kicked in and took the upper hand, deciding to look after these two younglings. About the blonde, she was having her doubts. Where were they going anyway?

A bookstore? Marion did some sort of magic, and the walls moved, opening up some secret magic passage way. Blinking perplexed, the dhampir took in the sight that unfolded infront of them. There obviously were bookshelves but by the amount of greenery that slid down the wooden planks, one could mistake it for a plant store.

The place was kind of crowded aswell. With... some obvious outcasts. Nico could recognise atleast two of them. A few very tall people, she assumed were most likely part-giants. They had a similar height like Quinn had. Extraordinairy tall. And next to those, a few very pale looking fellows. Dhampirs... In complete silence and awe, her eyes grew big. What was this place? Her eyes fell on the sign they were writing on. Many pickets with different phrases, indicating they were protesting about something. Was this... a racial thing? Nico wasn't sure. Maybe.

Curiously, she followed Marion in. At home, she had seen these kind of protests mostly only on television. It was rather weird to actually get a chance to... maybe experience one. Eyeing at any open seat, the redhead sat down, closing her umbrella and putting it beside her. Her gaze slid across the bookstore space. Every now and then, she'd pause and observe one of the attendees. Some were chatting others were busy writing down their messages. Maybe... she could write something too?

Dealla's eyes widened a bit as the blonde girl handed her an ice cream cone, but she took it without hesitation. She hadn't had ice cream in ages, and although it wasn't typical ice cream weather, who was she to turn it down? "Oh, thank you!" she said emphatically, and gifted the girl with a brilliant smile in return.

"Nice to meet you all!" she chirped, then shrugged in reply to Mary's question. "Only once, and that was years ago," she admitted. "I don't live near here, but my grandparents do, and we visited them one time." Shoes weren't exactly what Dee had hoped for when she had sneaked off-camp, but now that her plan to find her grandparents was postponed, she didn't have anything more pressing to do than to just follow the girl who had so kindly provided her with ice cream - which was delicious, by the way - down the street.

Tilting her head to one side curiously, Dealla watched Mary open a magical pathway through a gate, then hurried to lick her ice cream before the melted drops ran over her fingers. Her eyes widened at the shelves of books that were visible through the archway, plants growing everywhere.
A soft "Oh" escaped her. While not an avid reader just for the sake of it, Dealla tended to look at every book as the potential keeper of important information, of secrets and mysteries to be solved - and she did have a weak spot for adventure novels. She also loved plants. So, all in all, this place looked awesome.

Hurrying to finish off her ice cream, she followed Mary and Nico between the shelves without a second thought. The sight that awaited them behind the bookshelves, however, was even more unexpected.

Dealla wasn't one to hold prejudices - except, maybe, against Gryffindors - her parents had made sure of that. Yet, as someone who had grown up mostly separate from the remaining wizarding world, she also hadn't had much to do with not fully human beings in her young life, so she wasn't really aware of any difficulties they might face because of their nature. She simply had never thought of it.
Forehead scrunched up in confusion, she let her gaze trail over the crowd, before her eyes caught on the signs the people were making. They were... protesting?

While this wasn't exactly the adventure she had imagined for the day, her curiosity took over and she sat down on in the chair next to Nico, and hesitantly picked up a marker. "What is going on here?" she asked, obviously directed at Mary, but not particularly quietly. "What are these people protesting?"

Maria almost snorted. So now there were two people whose names were close to hers. She couldn’t quite put her finger on it but she was sure she’d seen the blonde before. For sure she was a Hogwarts student, but everything else about “Mary” was unfamiliar. Nevertheless, the Hufflepuff decided to stick with her and the others. At least “Dee” (she would have to get used to that) and the redhead were probably good people. Maybe the other girl wasn’t so bad either? However, a glance at the redhead who introduced herself as Nico made her reconsider her gut feelings. They had to be careful around Mary. She was almost a “stereotypical blonde archetype” but there was something about her Maria couldn’t quite put her finger on.

Taking a bite of her soft serve, and momentarily regretting the brain freeze, the badger girl was brought back to their conversation. Something about Muggle London and shoes. Oh, her mother would have liked this girl. Realizing that she had been eerily quiet, Maria decided to speak up. “Uh, a few times, yeah, my mom likes shopping.” She nervously continued to lick the soft-serve as her eyes darted from one girl to another.

Their walk took them to the front of an alley with huge gates in front of it. Something told the Asian girl that there was a reason why a “unsuspecting” alleyway would need a gate. She was right though, because after Mary messed with the lock on the gates, they made a bunch of noises and the alleyway revealed… a library? No, it was a bookstore. If Maria hadn’t finished her ice cream while the blonde was messing with the lock, she probably would have dropped it. This was unlike anything she’d seen before. A variety of books in different languages all probably related to the magical world lined the tall shelves along with the growing foliage.

Now, at first glance and apart from the plants growing around she would have thought it was just a muggle bookstore. However, seeing the other patrons solidified her belief that they were definitely in a magical bookshop. From what she could tell there were part-giants…part-goblins maybe? A few people, she noticed, looked like Nico. They were writing things on white boards. Picket signs? Was this a protest or something? Maria and her parents had seen them on tv, and her father sometimes read books that involved people protesting to fight for something. What could these people be fighting for? Mary turned to them and gave them the option to join. But join what exactly?

“You mind telling us what’s happening here first, Mary?” Maria asked slowly.

A day out in muggle London, a casual adventure that they should not be on. Children should be corralled into their tents or occupied by one of the dozens of activities the adults had painstakingly prepared. Of course the effort was to do more than keep the children out of trouble, it served as a diversion. An attempt to perhaps 'make up' for the terrors the students experienced over the past year. Well, three in Marion's case.

She was not one for diversions even if she looked the part. She was by no means as clever as Vladimir nor was she was altruistic as Victor, but she was not one to remain idle either. She was here for more than a shopping trip, she could multi-task. As for the girls that had the same idea, not paranoid enough to believe that she was followed, she tried to make small talk. That was until she saw the expression change on the dhampir's face. The jaw clench, the cold eyes. Her gut sank a little, whoever she was, she was not a fan. Sure, she saw the fellow third, soon to be fourth year around, they shared the same house and year. The redhead was a Prefect and a Quidditch player, if anything she was always in the spotlight. Marion just did not pay enough attention to notice.

Distract with ice cream, the most cunning strategy. She was making no effort to avoid them or to escape. Perhaps she was leading them somewhere. To a trap. To their eventual doom. To... a bookstore? Indeed, a book store.

She offered them glitter sticks and markers. They seemed more intent on taking their seats, she shrugged and carried on. Marion took a big pink, sparkly writing utensil and started to write in large letters:

"What is going on here?"

One of the girls asked. Marion would look up at her for a moment and cock her head to the side and give her a one-word answer, "seeking justice." She would look back down at her poster. It needed something more. Something to say she meant business. She frowned at her work of art and searched for a purple writing instrument. She would mark the bottom of her poster with the purple, sigh it looked more fuchsia than purple. Oh well.

A masterpiece!

"What are these people protesting?"

"Injustice," she answered with another one-word answer. She would gesture around her with her non-dominant hand. A large man was sitting in a chair that strained beneath his weight. He looked unhappy, but perhaps that could be his neanderthal-like features. His trunk-like limbs crossed over his chest.

"People like him need help," she explained. He did not look like he needed the help of anyone. He looked more liable to break someone in half. "Not everyone is as lucky," she felt her statement was rather obvious.

"Modern misfits," a deep baritone voice commented. His voice was not powerful but had a low brassy quality, everything about the man, well part-giant suggested might. "What we are is defined rigidly. Some people are valued more, others not at all. There is a stratum of worth based on birth, given with the right name and taken away if your blood lacks the sparkle."

Marion was making a pretty border on her poster. Without looking up she would introduce the part-giant. "Professor Mathias Mulrain, he like teaches English at a university." One might have taken him for a Professional wrestler more likely to raze a villain than raise test scores.

Nico would be greeted by a young man, he did not fit the facade of a dhampir or that of a part giant, he was lanky and tall with wild frizzy hair that did allow him to rival some of the smaller part-giants. He would climb on top of the table nearest Nico and lean towards her. He would attempt to sniff the top of her head. "You smell..." his voice trailed off "...nice." He would inch closer to her, a crouched crawl and attempt to sniff her a second time. "But different," he mused. The beads around his neck would click together.

"I am Claude Avery," he extended an awkward hand towards the redhead. "We are glad to have you." He would pick up a quill in his hand and a bottle of crimson ink and extend it towards the Slytherin. His hands were unusually hairy and calloused despite his slight features.
It was a lot to take in. The long, narrow library was obviously a wizard location in the heart of London. It existed, this spark of magic in the middle of muggle society. Wizards endeavored to keep themselves separate, to hide behind the veil. To continue the masquerade. But why? There were so many reasons to do so. Maria

“You mind telling us what’s happening here first, Mary?”

"You totally came here," Marion replied. "We are calling for equality for squibs, for those that are left on the fringes of society... Well, I am."

The dhampir wasn't the only one who was curious and kind of confused by what was going on. As Dealla decided to sit beside her, Nico looked up at Marion who was quite busy with her own protest sign. What was going on?

So, this was about justice afterall. The dhampir kept her knees tightly together as her eyes again looked around at everyone. She couldn't help it. The urge was stronger than herself. When would the next time be where she'd ever see so many different people of different races together? Another question was answered by Marion who was still eagerly invested in the making of her sign. Nico's eyes glanced at the pink marker the blonde had picked. It looked kinda cute. These people were peacefully fighting injustice. Marion introduced a tall lad. A... giant lad. The dhampir blue peepers couldn't help but scan the mans entire being. Was... this another Half-Giant? H-He's huge! Was Quinn going to grow this tall and beefy aswell? That... would be interesting.

The man sat there, not moving, like a statue. The dhampir carefully leaned slightly onto her knees, wanting to observe the man from a bit closer. "Modern misfits," When he suddenly spoke, Nico's instinct told her to stay away from this man. Not that he was a bad person, she didn't know. But her gutfeeling just felt alarmed by louder noises. Noises she wasn't used to.

'H-He's a Professor?'She whispered softly, slightly baffled. 'Professor? Where do you teach? I haven't... seen you around Hogwarts.' Surely, there would be different schools in London or Great Britain. But Nico was curious. What was a Professor doing here? To protest, most likely.

Before she could hear his answer, she felt a presence. Something was looming over her. Near her. Looking up beside her, there'd be gingerheaded man. Sn-sniffing her? The only other man who ever did, was Quinn. Oh, how she wished he was here right now. The wild frizzy haired boy was so close to her, the dhampir couldn't help but blush rather intently. W-what was he doing? Who was he? Her ice blue eyes darted around, not sure where she could flee to if things got weird. But she had no other choice but to sit there and... be polite. He complimented her scent and she thanked him with a soft, shakey voice. What was going on? This was new to her. This kind of encounter.

He soon introduced himself as Claude Avery. Eyeing at his... rather hairy hands, Nico carefully shook his hand. Her pale fingers gently clasping around his. It felt strange to the touch. She had... never felt something like this before. Who could ever be this hairy? 'N-Nice to meet you. I'm.. Nico Shymane.' She'd say when accepting the quill and crimson ink he was offering her. It felt... oddly warm to be welcomed in such a manner. There was no strange hostility for her rather pale unusual features. What was going to happen though? They all knew why they were here. But what would happen next?

'So... what's next..? Are we.. going out on the street or..?'
She asked Marion as her iceblue eyes glanced at Claude occasionally. Who knew when he'd start sniffing her again?
