AI and background images

Very late to this discussion, I feel like the black void is good, yes it is blank. Yes it is a bit boring but it is functional. It works and works as like a dark mode (which I love)

I don't mind either way if there would be AI backgrounds or a different way of doing the background.

I agree that the black background look’s good however in the timeline forum it looks really weird

Don't want to speak in anyone's name (aka it's just my opinion, not sure about anything) but that is likely a bug? I think I recall there being a wood-pannel thingy, kind of like the leather one we currently have in this forum!

That’s what I originally thought but then why did none of the other forums have the problem

I meant, a bug as in "one of those things that glitch, which zach is probably aware of but has a billion of other things to do so it remains that way for now" bug! We had issues with images, with code, with some forums already so I wouldn't worry too hard about it :3, will be fixed when the time is right!

Hello everyone,

Those last few months, I’ve been working very intensively, practically every waking hour outside of work, on the next update. The vast majority of it consists of an invisible rewrite of the website, aimed at making it faster, more accessible, and easier to maintain in the long term. The visible changes will mainly focus on improving navigation around the site. I’m quite pleased with the result and confident that you’ll like it too. The matter of location images is fairly minor in this update, and, as planned, I’ve made them optional in the profile settings. I have, then, things that you will love on my roadmap.

There are still a few things I’m not entirely happy with, but I think I’ll release the update within the next day or two, even if it means improving some aspects later on!

As for this thread, which I have now carefully caught up on, I think starting it was the right thing to do, as it gave me an opportunity to share my questions with you and gather your feedback. I believe discussing these kinds of issues is the right thing to do. I do not regret it and would do it again. But I don’t want it to lead to a deterioration of the atmosphere on the site or to personal attacks. I have received inappropriate messages, and some players have been subjected to unacceptable attacks. This is not the kind of atmosphere I want for the site, and it must stop. People can hold different opinions without attacking those who do not share them. The purpose of this site is to provide a welcoming and open space, and I will not hesitate to shut it down the day I feel that it no longer is one. I’m counting on you so that day never comes.

As I mentioned some time ago, after the update I’ll launch a short poll to find out whether the community would prefer background images to remain a matter of individual choice (meaning optional) or whether they should be removed for everyone. I’ll then consider how best to proceed based on the results.

Thank you to everyone who has sent me words of encouragement, here or elsewhere; it’s always appreciated! Above all, I’ll be counting on your feedback on the update. I still have plenty of ideas for the coming weeks that I believe everyone will be on board with.

I also would like to point out that Zach’s autonomy is a valuable thing to prioritize, but that, in the end, the edits are catering towards a greater community that has a right to participate in active discussion that impacts the site as a whole. I’d just like some clarity.

I spoke out using some harsh words (If you wanna look back and find my post go right ahead) some posts were directed at me and some people had dmed me thinking i was on the ban AI side and i am not, and i stated that. I was blocked due to that and when Clark and I asked to for thread to close we had some harsh feedback claiming we were "silencing the voices." Look i really lot some respect for this community as all this was going down. And as Lear said you all lost a great member due to this (Clark).

Honestly I think we have all spoken out on what we think is right and wrong and i think it's time to retire the thread. Not to close it but just to let it die.
