Forward dating -> two days after start of term

It was a slightly wind day, but the wind was refreshing. The previous days were a little warmer, but for some reason, Riley had chosen today to go walk by the lake. With a book in her hand and a smile on her face, she set off on her morning walk. Riley was still adjusting to being a second year. It even felt strange saying it. But it was only the second day of the term. she would get used to it. Eventually.

Riley hurried down the stairs leading to the lake. Today it was especially shiny, reflecting the sun heavily. Riley sat down on the soft grass under a tree that looked oddly similar to the one at home, and stared into the lake. The way the water swirled around in its dark depths was almost hypnotic. Now thinking back, it seemed as if the year had simply flown by.

Riley took a long breath, and closed her eyes. She felt the wing in her face, making her hair go every which way. She also warmth in the air, that gave her an intense sense of peace. That serene feeling lasted about ten seconds, because of the loud footsteps approaching Riley.

Rosy didn't realize how loud she was as she walked up to a tree near the Great Lake. It was a Sunday, which meant the lakeside would be a little crowded, but Rosy didn't expect to see so many people there.

Even though, Rosy was good with people, she still felt nervous when she was around a lot. When she saw the crowd, the first thing she thought of doing was just sitting down under a nice cozy tree and begin reading her copy of The Ones that Let it Snow.

Muggle devices didn't work inside Hogwarts which led to Rosy's agitation about the fact that she couldn't listen to music while she read. She wanted to buy an Enchanted Radio from the Muggle Artefacts shop in Hogsmeade but didn't have enough money to do so.

She was saving up and who knew, maybe in a few weeks, she would be able to listen to music in Hogwarts! She had brought some earphones from home, but they didn't work here!

She saw a little tree tucked away in the corner and decided it was the one with the least audience, at least for now. The only person there was a beautiful girl with brown hair and blue eyes.

Rosy recognized her as a fellow second year, the colour of her robes indicating that she was a Ravenclaw. Rosy always felt weird around Ravenclaws- back at home, she was used to being the smartest in her class but being near a Ravenclaw just made her feel stupid.

Rosy took a deep breath and decided to give it a shot. She walked up to the girl, her beauty making Rosy feel even more insecure, and asked in a rather quiet voice.

"Excuse me- can I sit here please?"

"Don't mistake my kindness for weakness"
