🅻auren tossed and turned on her bed, sweat pouring down her cheeks as she gasped for air. The nightmares have come again. Every night, whenever she clambered onto the silk bed on her room of the Slytherin Girls' Dormitory, visions of her family would haunt her. They would push her either into a bottomless bit with the blackened eyes of darkness staring up at her. She was able to feel it without looking, vividly as though it was lurking in her very skin.

This all had started when the young Slytherin entered Hogwarts, yet she could never find out why. Compared to her late childhood, Lauren's first two weeks at Hogwarts would be considered un-stressful, if not carefree. This had been very much unlike her life back in the Vanes family's manor; her siblings wouldn't get the chance to bully her, embarrass her, or try to make her life miserable in every single second of the day. Yet they could still find a way to get to her -- in her dreams.

The Slytherin didn't want any of this! She didn't control how her family came to hate her. She didn't control her first instance of magic, which was singing her bedside table, making the members of the Vanes family think that she, Lauren, was a monster! She didn't ask for that! But they hated her, and the first year would have to live with it.

She would always have to try and put up with everything. Pretend that she didn't give a care on the outside to try and stop them. She didn't care about what they thought about her, but their actions would still sink deep in her heart. Did her family really hate her enough to do this? And did she really deserve this?

No. She didn't.

Slowly she walked out of her bed and into the Classroom. Remembering how overthinking turned out for her a few days ago, the Slytherin practically ran up the stairs. She couldn't afford to be late, and embarrass herself in front of the class.

She looked around, found that she was early, and sat on one of the seats in the back row, still very much immersed in her thoughts as she waited for the class to begin.
