Lily Isobel McCoire. Fifth year duellist. Or so she'd like to say . It had been a bit since she had dueled and that's why she found herself in the Duelling Club on a Saturday afternoon, when she would rather be hanging out with her brothers. But nooooo the good McCoire was sitting here watching others duel. One group caught her eye and she turned her head to look. She had heard of them before, one a second year Ravenclaw Fawkes Chaos, was known for her recent game in the summer. Something about the Hunger Games. Lily didn't go since she had spent the summer with her brothers. She knew that Fawkes was also a Ravenclaw Duelling Captain. The second person was a duellist. Not someone she knew face-to-face but she thought he was a duellist as well. She thought his name might be Henry. Henry something -or-the-other. Well, Lily thought to herself. This should be interesting. A duelling captain and a regular duellist. Lily sat back with her drink and wished that she had popcorn. But alas, popcorn was not meant to be! But at least she would be watching fireworks, figuratively speaking. But hey, who knows? Maybe there will be actual fireworks.

───────────────────────────────────────────────────────Duelist. Henry still laughed when people called him that. He'd made it onto the team roster, of course. And yet the new second year had been slightly too isolationist in his first year to actually sign up in time to experience any literal duels of his own thus far. Though in reality the person behind the keyboard controlling him would have one-thousand per cent shoved him into dueling had he been here in time.
As he made his way onto the piste, he let out a sign of... almost relief. His new wand - a twist of willow twining about an ornate handle of yellow metal - was clutched in his grasp. It was perhaps a good thing that his first ever duel was not only unofficial, but against one of his best friends. Fawkes would push him, he was sure. She was smart, even smarter than the average Ravenclaw he'd encountered. He was certain she had some tricks up her sleeve that would give him some trouble. But even still, he sincerely doubted anything she cast against him would have any malice behind it. Besides, the push was needed encouragement, if the dragon heartstring housed within his new wand was to be appeased. The last thing his core desired was for him to go easy on her just because she was his friend.
He raised his wand in the standard fashion, and the length of wood made a sharp swishing sound as it raced down in a duelist's bow. The muggleborn may not have grown up around the sport as he was sure some wizardborns and purebloods had, but he knew enough to know how to be polite, at least.
"No hard feelings if one of us ends up in the hospital wing, I hope."─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────

Well. Not from duelling. She was still very much going to duel. Except she changed who exactly she was planning to duel. No longer would she be duelling the older students. Well at least for now anyways. No. Now she would be duelling someone from her own year.
Henry Holbrook. Someone she had become close friends with over the last few months. Like her, he too had gotten a new wand. He also had gotten onto the hufflepuff duelling team, which don't get her wrong she was happy for him, but she also knew he didn't have much experience. So what better way than to duel? Surprisingly he had agreed rather quickly.
Despite being friends, there was no way she was going easy on him. The whole fun of the duel was trying to go all out and win. Just because she was friends with Henry didn't mean she was going to let him off the hook that easily. She raised her wand with a smile on her face, ready to cast her first spell. No hard feelings at all! She responded with a giggle in her voice.

Lily grabbed a seat closer to their platform and she smiled as the two exchanged very friendly words. Lily had to laugh a little as they both agreed there would be no hard feelings if one of them winded up in the hospital wing. Not many people here would harbor hard feelings if they got knocked out...actually I take that back. There are many people who hold grudges here. Henry was the first one to cast a spell. Curse of the Bogies. Lily watched in curiosity as he cast the spell. Unfortunately for Henry, Fawkes easily evaded the spell. Also unfortunately, the spell came right at Lily and she ducked to avoid it. "Oi, watch where you're aiming that!" Lily shouted out. Fawkes was the next one to cast a spell and she cast the Impedimenta spell. Her accuracy was very good, so good that Henry just barely avoided it. Either that or Lily's shout distracted him so that he almost didn't evade in time. Lily situated herself back in her seat, regretting the choice to move closer. a precarious position because apparently she was in the blast zone. Lily settled back in her chair, with the little bit of popcorn she had left from spilling it. "Where is the bloody rum?" She muttered, quoting her favorite quote from the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.

───────────────────────────────────────────────────────The spell worked! Amazing! Absolutely spectacular! His first dueling spell had actually gone off, and with only one teeny tiny insignificantly minor problem... it was going towards the wrong person! A pair of cerulean eyes widened in horror as he saw his curse soar straight past Fawkes and right at the person nice enough to moderate this for them. Well, this wasn't going how he wanted at all.
"Sorry! Sorry! Technical difficulties with the new wand, that's all! You know how it is, right? No hard feelings I hope!?" The short boy pleaded, while darting hither and thither, his arms flailing desperately in his abject terror. Bloody hell, I've had plenty of Nat 1s before, but none that ended up with me almost cursing someone before..
In all his wild gesticulating, he managed to accidentally, barely dance out of the way of Fawkes' own spell, though he both heard and felt the wake of it passing within a hair of his person. A sharp EEP escaped him, before he took a deep breath and recentered himself.
"Ha! Haha... um... Now that the first round shenanigans are out of the way let's really get this show on the road, yeah? Also nice Jack Sparrow reference! Classic!"─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────

It was the best spell she knew to start off with. Amazing for slowing her target down and making it easier for her to hit him with other spells. Her aim wasn't too bad though. Henry had only just barely dodged the spell. In her mind that was a win for her since it meant she was getting better and better with her aim.
Well now was not the time to think about it. Now she had to prepare to dodge his spell. She recognised what it was the moment he casted it. The curse of Bogies. Her previous favourite spell in fact. She got ready to jump out of the way but then she noticed the spell not coming towards her. Nope. Henry had missed his mark by a bunch and instead had almost hit their moderator instead.
She watched the older girl yell out in surprise over it. Fawkes was glad the girl hadn't been hit. She had been hit as a moderator once. Wasn't a very pleasant feeling. She didn't understand the references that were being made though. Was it a muggle thing? Despite being a half-blood her knowledge with muggle literature wasn't the best. Sure she knew books but films were..... a different story all together. Noticing Henry's minor distraction she lifted her wand immediately to attack.

Lily grinned at the second year boy as he commented on her jack Sparrow quote. Not many people here knew who Jack was and this definitely turned her favor over to Henry. Though strictly speaking she was not supposed to have favorites when she moderated duels. She foresaw future interaction with Henry that was for sure. She watched as Henry once again cast the next spell. It was the Petrificus Totalus spell and Lily leaned back just in case she had to duck again. But nope, she did not because it actually hit the mark this time. X marks the spot and all. Fawkes didn't even evade. Apparently she was distracted by Henry and Lily's remarks on dear Jack. Lily watched as the spell hit the girl and she fell over, but not before she managed to fire a spell of her own off. However, being binded did kind of affect your accuracy and she missed Henry by a bit. Lily popped some more popcorn in her mouth and applauded that round. "Nice job, you two!" No one was in any doubts on who she was talking to as Henry was the only one who managed to actually hit the target.
