#4e7a27 - Zephyr’s speech
The first week of summer passed by quicky, the next thing Zephyr knew, it's been a week already since he arrived home. After spending almost a year at Hogwarts, going back to his life at their farm was surprisingly easy, as if he had not left at all. He found comfort in doing farm chores, playing with their pets and animals, or just sitting in silence and listening to the familiar sounds of the countryside. Hogwarts became another place he cared about, but being at Aelwyd Vale was where he felt most at peace.
His break may have just begun but he's already looking forward to seeing his Hogwarts friends again. The idea to meet started during the final week of school. After finishing their exams, packing their trunks, saying goodbye to friends and classmates, some of them exchanged numbers and promised to keep in touch during the break. There was also the suggestion of a meet-up. London seemed like the easiest place for everyone to reach. They agreed to wait until everyone was safely home before settling on a date. It just so happened that the date everyone picked was his birthday.
His family insisted on celebrating a day early instead. On the evening of July 7th, his mother prepared his favourite dinner. Zaria proudly presented him with a messy birthday card she claimed to have made for the last two days. It included a drawing of his broom and an animal she insisted was Clover despite looking suspiciously like a fluffy potato with two tails. A few of his childhood friends stopped by to celebrate with him.
The next day, he and his dad woke up early. They have a long way to go if they want to arrive on time. He was to meet with his friends at eleven in the morning in front of the British Museum. Rather than making the entire journey via train, his father planned a quicker route. It's a combination of portkey and train ride. "Ready?" His dad's voice brought him out of his musing. He quickly nodded and once they both touched the portkey, there was a tug in his navel pulling him in, everything blurred after that. The feeling only lasted seconds before his feet touched the solid ground again.
When he looked around, he was standing in a wizarding courtyard on the outskirts of London. "I don't think I'll ever get used to Portkeys." His father laughed, "Neither did I." From there, they joined the flow of muggles going about their day as if nothing happened. A short walk brought them to the underground train station, where he followed his father through the morning crowds. The station was already crowded you can literally hear their footsteps echoing through the tunnel. How can these people even moved quickly without bumping into each other. It's impressive.
When the train emerged above ground his dad pointed at the familiar landmarks while sharing memories from his own Hogwarts summers spent secretly exploring London with his muggleborn friends. After a few more minutes, they finally came out near Bloomsbury. A short walk after that and then he saw it from afar-- The British Museum. His dad commented "You'll need at least three to four hours if you want to really enjoy the place and still not see everything." He checked the pocket watch his father gave him, ten forty five. Just about the right time. Once at the museum entrance, Zephyr texted his friends to let them know he had arrived. His father excused for a while to buy their tickets and then gave him budget when he expressed his wish to treat his friends since it's his birthday that day.
"Enjoy your day with your friends. I have to go now, I'm meeting with some acquaintances of mine. You can manage on your own here?" He looked at his father in surprise, "You're not coming? I'd like you to meet them." He smiled and ruffled his hair, "Maybe next time, a group of teenagers would enjoy themselves more without somebody's dad following them all the time. If anything happens, you know how to reach me. Update your mom okay? I'll come back to fetch you later." He gave him the museum tickets before leaving, "Happy birthday again, son." He grinned and then nodded. "Thanks, Dad." His father left him with a wave before disappearing through the crowd.
