The jungle leaves rustled in the breeze, the array of green leaves seemed to mock Axel's shrinking jealously of his older team-mates. There was a surrounding smell of petrichor, which suggested it had rained recently and the wildlife seemed to love that. Chattering and chirping around the students. The landscape sounded alive, ever so alive and full to the brim of different species and their calls. The wind kept blowing which seemed like a low backing track for the animals and birds. Axel kept his eye out for any spotted pale-yellow and black spotted jaguars, and kept close-ish to his school counterpart..... just in case, especially as they probably knew more defensive spells. Though, he'd never admit that out loud, as that would ruin his whole glum, rude and acting-like-a-seventy-year-old-man personality. Axel is the type of person to never ask for help, he'd rather just stick at it himself or just fail, but with some encouragement or just bossing about, he'll allow himself to be helped or told what to do.
Axel scanned the trees yet again, definitely not liking the fact that they could be pounced on by a group of jungle predators, who wouldn't care that he was only fifteen, but maybe that would work in his favour, maybe that would allow him to be eaten last, but then he'd be unprotected and the next snack. So it was a loose-loose situation if a predator decides to pounce and eat Quentin first. "Uhh... You do know useful spells right?" Axel says to Quentin uneasily, hopefully not distracting him too much. The youngest boy in the team tries to sound less rude, but it might have come across that way as he isn't used to being courteous and respectful, which his team have probably picked up on.

Piranha vs. Catfish
Any/all pronounsLearning from their time on the quidditch pitch, Pax had learnt to recognise individual sounds. Having encountered the jaguar once, Pax knew how to go about avoiding when it stalked around the arena for a second time. However, sets of footsteps would catch their attention.
Staying carefully in the undergrowth, Pax kept to the treeline as they slowly approached and made their way back to zone 4, trailing behind two fellow Gryffindors on the opposing team. They felt a bit bad for what they were going to have to do, but it was the nature of the game, and in the end, they wanted to win.
As the opposite team crossed into zone 4's thresh-hold, Pax leapt out from the shadows, tackling the ginger haired girl to the ground with their arms wrapped round her waist. Deftly, knowing that they'd be caught out as a foul, they released their grasp and rolled away, positioning behind a tree root to give the illusion that she'd fallen herself. Seeing that Della was partnered with her, Pax just hoped that Della wouldn't have been able to recognise them and call them out on it. Especially with their bright orange hair.
Scrambling back to their feet, Pax began to search for the rest of their team.Reducio

Piranha vs. Catfish

Reyna was not going back in there. There was no way she was going back into that jungle full of those strange, scary creatures. Jaguars. She shuddered thinking about them. She had almost been eaten alive. Not that that was a rare occurrence. Everything in this game wanted to kill her.
As she pondered ehat do next she she glanced up and noticed someone unfamiliar, someone from another team sneaking up on them. Oh hell no! If Reyna could not keep moving, attempting to fit the other teams’ flag then she needed to at the very least stop them from getting their flag.
The first spell she thought of was not one that would try and kill i’m, but one that would temporarily freeze him. But as she casted her spell, he jumped in the air in front of another spell blasting to another teammate. And then he was frozen. Her spell bounced off and did… well… nothing. Because he was already frozen.
Stupid. Who would throw themselves at another to shield them? They weren’t getting killed! This was a freaking game of Capture the Flag! But then again, this Capture the Flag was not normal. So maybe it made sense. Reyna sighed. Next time she would make a difference. So for now she kept her eyes and her guard up, resdy for anything. Hopefully.

Piranha vs. Catfish
English | Parseltongue
As the two Gryffindors reached what should have been the other team’s home base, the heat became sweltering. The goosebumps on Della’s arms quickly transformed to beads of sweat. She was not cut out for the heat of the jungle. Surely, they hadn’t missed the flag by now? Surely, the other team had left some members behind here? Maybe Aly and Linda had found it, and that’s why they had disappeared. Or maybe, the Catfish were off running to victory with the Piranha flag already secured.
Della turned to consult Rose on their next move when she saw another Gryffindor leap from the darkness extended by the tree cover. Pax. The Gryffindor beater used their quidditch skills to take down the seventh-year. Brutal. And against the rules. But there were no adults here to enforce them. “Rose, are you ok?” Della rushed to her teammate’s side with her wand ready in hand. “Jeez, Pax, save it for the pitch.”
Della didn’t put all her focus on Rose, however. She kept her eyes peeled for more catfish. Was one of them waiting to pounce on her? Or could she get to them before they got to her? Considering Pax’s rash move, the two Gryffindor girls might be close to their flag.

Quentin could slowly feel himself coming back to reality. He focused all his energy on Axel, who definitely seemed to be real. Unlike that mom-linda-voice that was slowly receding from his memory. Maybe he was dehydrated. Axel seemed concerned with their readiness for the arrival of the other team. He asked if the older boy knew any useful spells. Weren’t all spells useful give the right context?
“Axel, my friend, we are playing capture the flag. It’s a muggle game. We have to think outside the box. Everyone will expect us to be using spells, especially the ‘useful’ ones. But me and you, we need to be tricky. If the other team gets anywhere near us, we have to outsmart them. That’s why I’ve been looking for quicksand. A witch or wizard would never expect quicksand. Muggles prepare for it all the time, though. Once we make the perfect quicksand trap, the other team is done for. And if all else fails, we can give them ole’ one-two. My dad taught me that. He’s American you know.”
Quentin began demonstrating the “ole’ one-two,” which was more than two steps; in fact, it looked like a complicated set of martial arts movements with no particular origin. Probably of Quentin's own design.

Linda sighed. Her mind was definitely nowhere near here. By some reason she didn't understand, her spell went to the tree. Tree? Since when she decided to aim her spell there? She didn't know. She felt tired. The constant unknown dangers were following them everywhere, and for once, she wasn't certain in anything. Not even the local Headmaster. In fact he made her feel uncomfortable and have more questions than answers. Though probably he was just different from what she got used to expect from Headmaster.
Reyna seemed to struggle with the environment around her. Quentin she had no knowledge of what was happening with him now. And more, she didn't understand Vale. What do you want from me, Vale? Totally confusing, not speaking that Linda didn't consider it the right place to fight because of whatever she became a victim of the Slytherin girl.
She looked around and took a breath. She definitely had to focus. But it was easier said than done. Hopefully they could survive it and win. She was interested if anyone was anywhere closer to finding the flag. Did she hope to win? Perhaps she did. But she wasn't sure at all. She just wanted it to end.

Rose was almost startled by Della’s question. The girl seemed to have a tough exterior, being a broom racer and a captain on top of that, but her confidence seemed to be dipping in this unfamiliar environment. Rose was quickly reminded of her seniority in this event at Della’s voice. It made sense- had she been younger, she would have looked to any upper-years when uncertain about anything.
“Yeah, I’m sure they’re fine,” she said, nodding. “We’re a tough bunch.” Her eyes sparkled a little. “Plus, there might be a little danger, but the staff have never let us get too hurt,” she joked. Rose wondered if there would be any statistical difference between the recklessness of muggle and wizarding children- she was sure countless magical kids had used the excuse “there’s always magic to heal us” before doing something stupid, and she doubted there was much (other than death, but Rose had little confidence in that outcome) that couldn’t be healed with magic.
The redhead had kept her voice down on purpose in order to conceal their movements as best as possible. They were now entering another part of the jungle, and Rose kept Della in her sight as much as possible. Even though she had encouraging words for her housemate that she mostly believed, this rainforest was no place she wanted to be alone in.
Despite her best efforts at staying quiet and being aware of her surroundings, the redhead was soon after tackled by yet another Gryffindor.
“Hey-!“ Only a brief tussle later, Rose jumped back to her feet and the brightly haired attacker disappeared into their surroundings. “Yeah, I’m okay,” she confirmed to Della.

Piranha vs. Catfish
Zone Four
The response to Marshal’s, ahh.. moral support proved to be lacking at best. Not one, but two individuals had taken his musings with all the humor and grace of a rock. Some teammates they were — not that he was admittedly any better.
He paused a moment, gaze flitting from bush, to tree, to obscured sky. Birds played their raucous tunes, and the more harsh sounds of bugs offered a backing track. He closed his eyes a moment, content to absorb the jungle’s song, and reached out with his senses for any clue as to what might be taking place in these depths.
Was that a scream? Oh well. Who knew if it was even real?
One thing was for certain; this very place was alive. Stepping through its entangling growth, he felt as an intruder in an ecosystem upon which he ought not to have tread. Even the air weighed on him with malice, pressing on his bones and drawing the moisture within to join its humid affair.
The sixth year grasped a canteen he’d hung at his waist. Lifting it to his lips, he savored the life-giving water within, though took care not to over-indulge. Dehydration in this climate could well be the death of him. Setting the container again in its place, the young man resolved to press on. He could only hope his team found victory soon, or perhaps their opposition would simply perish.
That had definitely been a scream.

Vale stopped her talking upon seeing one of her teammates throw himself in the line of fire of her only to collapse, frozen. She overlooked him, confused before looking around."You know," She sniffed, looking off into the distance. "I never dissected a live critter before. But like my father says, its never too early to learn something new."
Vale scraped her nails together in glee, as if she came upon a gift of unforeseen fortune. She stopped, hearing noises scambling around them. Instead of speaking her lungs out, she listened. Prehaps her confidence in succeeding is wavering, abet a unlikely scenario for an Ashwood. She continued to scape her nails together, keeping her head high for sounds that weren't resembling of birds, or any animal creature that lurked the jungle grounds.
And like that, she slither away in a almost curious fashion, abandoning the person who dared to help her at a convenience timeframe. Huh, suppose she'll do him a favor and keep going forward. Whether or not she forgot the purpose of the game is up to anyone's guess.
She made a large, wicked smile. And off Vale goes, prepared for murder.Action: As Strategized.Fearless / Poison Resistance / Terrible Presence / P. Potions / R. Potions
Piranha vs. Catfish
This event is part of the Castelobruxo International Capture the Flag event
26TH OF JUNE, 2026 IN THE JUNGLE ARENA
MODERATION — ROUND FOUR.
It felt as though half of the players in the arena had forgotten why they were here, and what they were supposed to do. Initially, he had high hopes for the Catfish team, who had started off strong with their offensive strategy. Now, it seemed like they had fallen off somewhere along the lines. What a waste of time, Santiago thought with a disapproving shake of his head. Even if the students were at a loss for what to do, the environment continued to reign across the zones in usual fashion. What was going to happen was never predictable, but at least he knew what to expect. It was almost certain that the jungle would always have something up its sleeve, even if two zones, this round, were quiet.
The ranks had thinned in Zones 2 and 3 with @Louca Dufort still in a vegetable state on the ground with no visible efforts to break free, but the two bases were getting crowded. While the boy was laying there, @Reyna Evergreen took the quiet moment to banter with @Aly Salinger. Santiago couldn't hear the joke, but the image of the enemy and the two girls having a blast, despite their injuries, were comical enough in itself.
Just as the temperature was rising, figuratively and literally in Zone 1, @Axel Brooks had enough of the heat, looking like a cooked tomato. To his credit, when @Vale Ashwood escaped before @Aly Salinger's perfectly executed Petrificus Totalus could hit its mark, he could hardly believe his eyes when the boy formed a guard so solid that no one would have been able break through. That's more like it, Santi thought, impressed by the boy who was both younger and smaller than most of the older players.
Fortunately—or unfortunately, depending on how one looked at it—both @Romélie de Brissac and @Harlan Montgomery seemed far too occupied flirting, or whatever they were doing with one another, to care about searching for the flag... or attacking their enemies.
It would cost Harlan. When the boy wasn't paying attention and making no particular effort to defend himself, @Quentin Gagné seized the opportunity to tackle him, face to the mud. Conveniently, Santiago had already swept his gaze towards the other zones before he could see the foul play out, but oh, it would have hurt.
In Zone 4, @Pax Zhang would find themselves reunited with an old friend. An anconda had slithered into the zone — perhaps a completely new one, but Santiago couldn't tell — only to bother Pax among everyone else available. The others was busy enough without the anaconda. Recovering after her fall the previous round, @Rose Moon stumbled off to search for the flag, which the Catfish allowed her to do without putting up a fight. He didn't particularly blame @Marshal Mozor, who at least tried to set up a flag, a few tweaks short of functional. @Gellert Schroeder must have done the first thing he come to think of; he tried to guard the base, but the attempt would have been wasted anyway. Even if anyone would have attacked him, his stance looked rather weak.
Since @Ethan Smith hadn't moved for several rounds, Santiago thought it would be an appropriate redemption if he could have stopped Rose from spotting their flag. Alas, he remained motionless. Sighing, the man was not as excited as he usually was during these games. It was time to turn the tide. Rather inconvenienced, Santiago picked up the megaphone that had so far sat uselessly at his side. He spoke calmly, matter-of-factly.
"Rose has found the Catfish flag in zone 4. I repeat: the Catfish flag has been found in Zone 4. Don't waste time. My time." Then he put it down again exactly where he'd found it.

HOW TO PLAY
The game ends when either team successfully retrieved the other teams flag to their base. Team Piranah will be starting the game in Zone 1 and Team Catfish will be in Zone 4 at the opposite end of the arena. There will be at most 10 rounds, each requiring a post of 200+ words. Please make sure you include your character's stats in your post.
During the first round only, each team must state which zone their flag is hidden in to the thread moderator. You may chose to hide the flag in any of the 4 zones. The flag remains in that zone unless successfully discovered or moved through gameplay mechanics. Do not reveal in game where the flag is located.
Each round, everyone in the team must make at least one action from the Capture the Flag actions list, unless they are unable to act due to a status effect or restriction. These actions are zone dependent. The team scores points by making successful flag actions or interceptive actions towards a flag carrier. Please note that players may only move between adjacent zones and cannot skip zones while travelling.
At the conclusion of each round, the zone state map will be updated to reflect all player locations. Players may only target characters who are in the same zone as them at the end of the previous round. If a target moves out of the zone during the following movement phase, the action automatically fails, with the exception of Flag Intercept and non-magical support actions that include a chase mechanic. When performing these actions, the player automatically follows the target into the destination zone as part of the interaction.
If the action fails while chasing, the pursuing player is left behind in the original zone while the target successfully gains distance.
Rules regarding roll resolution, action priority, and other game mechanics can be found HERE.
At least one member of the team must owl the entire teams' action list to @Santiago Peralta before the posting deadline.
DEADLINE IS 120 HOURS (5 days) FROM THIS POST
