My first pet
The streets of Diagon Alley were full of people. Witches and wizards walked happily from one shop to another carrying bags filed with books, robes, and magical supplies.
I looked around with wide eyes because everything was so magical. My mother smiled warmly as she watched me looking at everything.
My father, who was a Muggle doctor, looked amazed by everything around him. Even though he could not use magic he always enjoyed visiting the magical world with us.
"We have almost fiished your Hogwarts shopping," my mother said with a smile. "Now it's time to choose your pet."
I smiled. "I've been waiting for this all day."
My father gave a small laugh and said "Let's see who becomes your new friend."
A few minutes later, we arrived at the Magical Menagerie. The shop was filled with many different magical animals.
There were owls on wooden stands, toads in glass tanks, rats running through small tunnels, and cats of many different colours. Soft hoots, squeaks, and meows filled the air.
I slowly walked around the shop, looking carefully at every cat. Some were sleeping, some were playing with toys, and others watched the customers with curious eyes. They were all beautiful, but none of them felt like the one.
Then I noticed a beautiful silver Siberian cat sitting quietly in a corner of the shop. Its long silver fur shined softly under the light, and its bright green eyes looked calm and gentle.
The cat watched me for a moment before standing up and walking towards me.
I carefully held out my hand. The cat sniffed my fingers, then gently rubbed its head against my hand before letting out a soft purr.
"I think it likes you," my father said with a smile.
My mother laughed and said "I don't think you chose the cat I think the cat chose you."
I gently picked up the cat. It stay completely calm in my arms and rested its head on my chest. It felt as if it already trusted me.
"I want this one," I said, smiling.
The shopkeeper walked over and smiled kindly. "A wonderful choice. Siberian cats are gentle, intelligent, loyal, and very friendly. This little one has always been calm and enjoys being around people."
I gently stroke fur. "She's beautiful."
"What will you name her?" my father asked.
I looked at the cat for a few minutes. Her soft silver fur looked like a gentle mist, and the fur around her ears and paws made the perfect name come to my mind.
"I'll name her Mistytuft," I said.
The little cat gave a quiet meow, making all three of us smile.
"Mistytuft is a lovely name," my mother said. "It suits her perfectly."
The shopkeeper carefully placed Mistytuft into a comfortable pet carrier and my mother brought some food and toys for it and then paid for her.
As we walked out of the shop, I carefully carried Mistytuft's pet carrier with both hands.
I smiled as we continued walking through Diagon Alley. My first Hogwarts pet was finally with me.
I knew Mistytuft would become my loyal companion and I couldn't wait to take her home before we began our journey to Hogwarts together.
