Seeing Green Finished

One on one roleplay with Wyatt Starkey
Apparently they were having someone stay with them for the summer. And Apparently it was a last-minute thing. Alec's parents didn't even give any reason as to why there was going to be some random kid staying at their house for the whole summer. And some random kid who was going to be here in an hour or so. Because Alec's mom wanted to 'check out the city' or something. You know, this would've been fine with Alec if it weren't for one little tiny detail. This kid was from Hogwarts, apparently. This meant Alec couldn't do any of his fashion sketches or do any type of sewing during the summer. If he were to do that that kid could go tell everybody at Hogwarts once it was time to go back. And it was the last thing Alec needed. He already had so much going on in his head that worrying about that just made everything ten times worse.
Alec was a big worrier if that wasn't obvious. It's not like there was ever any logic to his worrying at all either half the time it was just plain stupidity. Maybe worrying about this was just stupid too. Surely any decent human being would respect Alec and not say a word. But not everybody was decent. And not everybody would be respectful of Alec's wishes. In fact, most likely with Alec's luck it was going to happen. Alec sat down on the edge of his bed, glancing over at the sketches hanging on his wall.
He was going to have to take them down, so it didn't happen. Alec grabbed a box from under his bed then stood on his chair, moving and standing up on his desk so he could reach the sketches. Alec then grinned. If his dad knew he was doing this.. Well, he wouldn't exactly be happy about it that's for sure. Alec was also a bit surprised the desk held his weight. Even though he was actually the slightest bit underweight for his age. Sure, the wood was strong. But strong enough to hold 36.9 kg?
Well, okay than. Alec grinned more than reached up, pulling the sketches off his wall. In all he ended up taking almost all his sketches of the wall except one which was his only non-fashion sketch. It was a sketch of a spider. He'd found crawling around on his bedroom floor this summer and decided to sketch it. Alec wasn't gonna lie. He liked the sketch a lot too. He even went as far as to name the little spider who was making a web in the corner of his room.
Its name was 'Cookie' the spider was still relatively young. And it was small and actually relatively cute. Which is why he let it stay. That and he couldn't bear the thought of someone random animal gobbling up Cookie and eating him. Alec would not allow that. Alec finally got off the desk, shoving the sketches and his journal that was under his pillow, in a box. Then under the bed. There, now that that was done. It was about time he changed. His mom told him to look at least 'presentable' which by her standards was a suit, and an attempt at brushing his hair. What Alec had learned over the years is that curly hair is not made for brushing. The more you brush it the more knots it get's. So Alec decided he wasn't going to do that and just put on his suit. And just like that, he watched as a cab pulled up to the house.
'Great' well get ready for a summer of not fun. Alec went down the stairs, sitting on the couch but looking over so he could see who was staying with them for the summer. Nina ended up answering the door. She was dressed up in a dress sweater thing that was black and was wearing black pants too. Why must teenagers have a goth phase? Alec rolled his eyes slightly before turning his attention to the door while Nina opened it.

Permission to godmod Alec’s mother (npc), given.

Was Wyatt confused when someone told him that he was getting picked up by a Livvia Mason, and he didn’t even connect the dots until he met the woman. The orphanage director told him it was just for the summer. He also told Wyatt to get dressed up to meet her. Wyatt didn’t exactly have anything nice to wear, but he tried his best.

He ended up putting together a semi-nice outfit. He wore dad’s old black dress pants that didn’t quite fit, but he cuffed them at the ankles and wore a black belt to keep it from looking strange or too big. Wyatt asked his friend Finn at the Boys Home to lend him a nice shirt, since Wyatt didn’t have one. Unfortunately, the only semi-nice shirt he had was a (far too) colorful long sleeve polo. It fit, though, so he wore it, even though he wasn’t a fan of it. He still had the shoes he wore to his mother’s funeral, so he put those on with some white socks.

The woman, Livvia Mason, seemed so cold and aloof that he thought there was absolutely no way she could be the mother of the insolent bastard that is Alec J. Mason, but when she’d told Wyatt her son was in Hogwarts, he knew what was coming next.

“His name is Alec, do you know him?” She said her son’s name with a sort of distaste, Wyatt didn’t show any sign that the tone had any effect on him. It was something he’d look into later. She wore a fake smile, one that didn’t reach her eyes.

“Yes, we’ve met. He’s very nice,” he lied. Maybe lying wasn’t the best thing to do, but he wasn’t going to tell the boy’s mother he despised him, especially when the mother didn’t seem so happy to have birthed him at all. Wyatt knew what made things worse in situations like that, and maybe Alec’s mother wasn’t abusive, but Wyatt wouldn’t wish anything he’d gone through in his past on anyone, even Alec J. Mason.

The drive to the Mason’s house was excruciatingly long, and just as excruciatingly quiet. It felt like it lasted forever, but Wyatt just played songs in his head. A strange talent that he found he was very good at. Alec’s mother wasn’t very chatty, but Wyatt still had learned that she had been friends with his mother, back when she went to Hogwarts. It was comforting having someone else who knew her around, even if that person wasn’t very warm.

After what felt like an eternity, the cab stopped. Wyatt got his trunks and guitar cases from the back of the car. He looked up at the house, and he could’ve sworn he heard it and it’s three stories laughing at him for being so poor. They reached the front door, and Wyatt sighed quietly.

If only he could see himself right now. His hair was messier than it had ever been, and the bags under his eyes were even more pronounced than they were in Hogwarts. He was somehow thinner, something that shouldn’t have been possible at all. He had no appetite since the ninth. He’d only eaten when he was forced to.

He thought he could feel something move in his backpack, but he hadn’t slept the day before and assumed it was just his brain making things up.

The door opened, and Wyatt could see Alec sitting on the living room’s couch. He had no reaction to the boy, and even though he didn’t take his eyes off him, it barely mattered to Wyatt. His black eyes were cloudy, dead. He barely noticed he was looking at someone.

Alec at first stood there frozen. Like a prey to its predator playing dead. Alec wasn't exactly sure how to react. The worst possible person in the universe staying at their house during the summer. It would have been amusing if it wasn't so annoying. Nina had introduced herself to Wyatt first, telling him to just ignore Alec because he was a 'little git'. What a 'great' sister Alec had. But this time Alec didn't mind, it was amusing when Wyatt already knew that 'fact' and his sister was only making a fool of herself. Alec hadn't said anything over this whole exchange till his mother both glared at him and cleared her throat. Of course this straightened him up right away it meant she meant business, and he'd get into trouble in he didn't do what so oh so obviously wanted him to do.
His usual sort of slouching posture was straighter than it usually would be at Hogwarts, because he wasn't held to that sort of standard there. Alec gave a quick side glare to his sister for the earlier on thing of calling him a 'little git'. Then mumbling, "Delighted to mak-" Another glare from his mother. "Heh.. u-um.." Alec said, his mind going completely blank.. What was he supposed to say again? It took Alec a minute before he remembered what he supposed to be saying "Delighted to make your acquaintance." He said although this time it wasn't mumbling because apparently that wasn't allowed now either.
Was this awkward greeting done now? Could Alec go hide away for the rest of summer? And that's when Jackie finally came up. Wearing pretty little black dress shoes, a dark purple dress with little puffs for sleeves, and a purple women's derby hat that was clearly Alec's mother's hat and not Jackie's because it fell over the poor girl's eyes. Jackie did a little curtsy for Wyatt before introducing herself. Alec had been a bit more cautious with this one by the obvious way he was watching attentively as the little girl introduced herself.
Dinner was already ready and on the dining table. "I have some.. things to tend to. I'm sure Alec can show you to the dining room" And that was she said before walking away. Sadly, Alec couldn't just drop the act the second she'd left. It wasn't how that worked here.. Alec let out a small sigh, picking up his younger sister then giving a passive glance to Wyatt. "You coming or not?" He asked the words surprisingly coming out a bit harsher than he'd meant them too.
Maybe dinner would give Alec a chance to interrogate Wyatt in a subtle way and figure out why he was even here..

"Delighted to make your acquaintance."

Wyatt couldn’t even make a witty remark at the other boy’s playing dumb. He saw the way Alec’s mother looked at her son, reminiscent of the way Wyatt’s father looked at his son. It made his stomach turn. She left the room, and Wyatt watched as he saw Alec immediately relax.

"You coming or not?" Alec’s tone was harsh, but Wyatt didn’t show that he’d actually heard it at all.

“Hm.” That was all he could say, really. That’s what he’d been saying for weeks. It was like he couldn’t see Alec’s passive look, even though he could. Wyatt didn’t care to shoot the boy a look of his own. He didn’t care for anything, really. He hadn’t touched any of his instruments since the day he came home from school and saw his mother for the first time in months. He questioned why he even bothered to bring them.

They got to the dinner table. Back at his Cokeworth home, they’d just sit at the kitchen counter or the couch to eat. There was never any room or money for a dining table. He waited until everyone started sitting before he sat down.

He sort of just assumed someone would have told the Mason family why he was there, but the family just looked confused, and none of them had pity in their eyes. Any adult or non-orphan he’d talked to since his mother’s death looked at him with an unhealthy amount of pity in their eyes. Wyatt hated pity.

He began to fear someone would start asking questions.
“Thank you for allowing me into your lovely home, all of you.”
He'd have to make a good impression.

Alec went as far as to cut up Jackie's food for her, telling her "I'm sure we have some crisps in the cabinet. If you eat all your food, you can have some" It almost seemed as if Alec was the father of Jackie or something of that sort. And in a way he kinda was his parents never really had much time during their 'busy' day-to-day life to give her much of any attention, anyway. Once Alec had finished with that and made sure she'd taken a few bites Alec sat down.
He ate a few bites of his food before pausing. The silence was awkward. Maybe Alec could just break the tension a bit b-“Thank you for allowing me into your lovely home, all of you.” Excuse me? Who did he think he was? Alec couldn't help but feel anger just seep through his bones. In all honestly, Alec was probably looking for something that Wyatt would say that would upset him. Even if it was as stupid as this. It was like mocking Alec.
Especially since he was a bit embarrassed of this place. All the other purebloods Alec knew didn't live in a muggle neighborhood. Or even in a house like this. They had huge manors. If Alec's parents cared so much about that stuff why don't they give the benefits to it too? He knew his parents were making a lot a money, so he knew money wasn't an issue. Which is always what bugged him so much more.
Nobody had yet responded to Wyatt other than the occasional humming of Jackie who just had a song stuck in her head. "Why are you here, anyway?" Alec asked. Finally looking over at Wyatt, it was the last thing he needed this summer. All eyes went on Alec, most likely for his rudeness towards Wyatt when asking this question but Alec didn't really care. Alec deserved at least an explanation to why his summer was being ruined by Snake-boy. And with his bad luck and the anger he had slightly built up in him for multiple reasons, it probably wasn't going to turn out in Alec's favor and he probably wasn't going to get an answer out of him. Well, at least Alec was almost done eating. He could get Jackie those crisps. Then h just head upstairs to his room and ignore the world for a bit.

Wyatt hadn’t eaten anything on his plate, he wasn’t hungry. He never was. Of course, he felt bad, but he just couldn’t.

"Why are you here, anyway?"

All the eyes at the table darted to Alec, even his little sister, who was previously so content with just sitting there, humming a song. Wyatt felt like if he tried, he could identify it, but he hadn’t listened to music in weeks. He wouldn’t know where to start guessing.

“That… is a fair question, Alec,” Wyatt drawled, looking down at his plate. He was just trying to stall, but when no-one jumped in to answer for him, he had to go on himself. “My mother has died.” As he said it, he looked up to meet Alec’s eyes. The words hurt so badly. It was like someone stabbed him and twisted the knife. He hadn’t said those words at all, he hadn’t really even processed them.

The words were spoken with no emotion. Usually, at Hogwarts, his speech was so animated. He used the power of tone to make people know how he felt, but if you heard the boy now you’d think he didn’t care. Oh, but how he cared.

He loved his mother more than anything in the world. She was always so kind, so much kinder than his father could ever be. She never stood up to Wyatt’s father, but that was only because he’d hurt her if she tried.

Wyatt and his mom went on so many “adventures,” that’s what she’d call them. They went to the zoo (Wyatt’s favorite), movie theatres, concerts, and museums just to get away from the house, but they bonded a lot during that time. When Wyatt’s father left, things were starting to get normal, but then he found out he was a wizard and everything started going crazy again.

All this time, he’d been thinking, and he hadn’t looked away from Alec. He turned his head and looked down at the plate again, playing with his fork.

Alec blinked rapidly. He wasn't exactly sure how to take this at first. Some twisted and sick part of him felt almost happy about the whole situation.. Another part of him was now curious and wanted to poke a prod at Wyatt's past maybe there'd even be an answer to why he was just so incredibly mean sometimes. Although he knew Wyatt wasn't going to take kindly to Alec asking anything of such sorts. And then there was that third part of him Alec saw it as more twisted and sick than the two others because he actually felt bad.
"Well, great, now you've gone and done it. Proud of yourself?"Nina asked as she stood up. So she'd known then.. And Alec wasn't exactly sure how to answer that. He hadn't even meant to. It was a fair question to ask. "You've made him feel worse now" Nina said. Nina didn't bring it up because she knew it would make things worse, but now Alec had brought it up, anyway. His gaze wavered on his older sister for a moment. It was no use arguing about it, anyway. She wouldn't listen. She disliked him just as much as everybody else did.
And that's when Alec heard arguing. It wasn't too loud, but it was loud enough to hear from the third floor where his parent's bedroom was. Nina seemed as though she hadn't heard it at all because she just rolled her eyes at Alec and left the room. Alec sat frozen for a moment, listening to mumbled and jumbled up words Alec couldn't really tell apart. The only things he could really tell apart were the words, half-blood, Starkey, and Slytherin.
Even Jackie seemed sorta immune to the arguing, seeing as she was tugging on Alec's shirt asking if she could have crisps now. Which is what snapped Alec back to reality. "Yeah.. s-sorry um.. I'll go get you some" He said standing up not wanting to address the whole Wyatt thing more yet. And went to the kitchen grabbing a bag of crisps from the cabinet and tossing them to her which she ate happily.

"Well, great, now you've gone and done it. Proud of yourself? You've made him feel worse now"

“No, no, it was a valid question. You all deserved an answer.”

He couldn’t just sit there and watch Alec get berated by his own family. The Lion seemed to be the family scapegoat. Something Wyatt knew well. He was the scapegoat at his muggle school for the bullies, and things were the same at Hogwarts, but things were worse with his father. Wyatt’s father always pinned everything on his son. If he lost his job, it was Wyatt’s fault. If he hurt Wyatt’s mother, it was Wyatt’s fault.

Then, he heard something upstairs. Wyatt flinched, and sunk into the chair he was sitting in. The fighting sounded too much like the way his parents used to fight, it was scary. The warm blood flowing through his veins were replaced by ice-cold water, and his hearing basically stopped working. He couldn’t move. The dark-haired Slytherin started hyperventilating.

He felt like he was dying. His father’s voice echoed in his head saying things like, pathetic, worthless, and disgusting. Wyatt closed his eyes tight and started trying to breathe out of his panic attack. The boy started to relax, and though he could still hear the fighting, he tried to block it out.

Alec’s little sister asked for chips, and Alec thankfully got up to go get them. He hoped the boy didn’t notice him having a panic attack, but it was hard not to notice. The strangest part was that everyone else carried on eating and living like everything was normal.

He turned to see Alec toss his sister a bag of chips. He seemed to be a fatherly figure to the girl.

Alec hadn't really noticed the look on Wyatt's face till now. Alec stood still for a moment as he watched. It was a familiar look to Alec with everything swirling around in your head and you just can't stop and think. Like when Wyatt had called him a 'Psychopath' flashes and unpleasant reminders of things he'd rather not remember. Was Alec supposed to check and make sure his basically enemy was all right? I mean, his basically enemy did stand up for him. Wait, why did he do that, anyway? He hates Alec's guts.. Whatever Alec shook his head. That didn't matter, the boy didn't look alright.
By the time Alec had finally made a decision the arguing had died down and you couldn't really hear it anymore. Either way Alec assumed it had something to do with Wyatt being here during the summer. The only thing that could be heard right now was Wyatt's sort of deep breaths and his sister munching on crisps. "u-um.. You alright?" Alec asked, tilting his head slightly. His eyes glazing over the boy. Who'd looked as if he'd just seen Dementor or worse.
Alec couldn't even imagine what Wyatt was thinking. Or what was going on his mind to give him that earlier on look of sort of pain and panic on the boy's face but he decided he wasn't going to push him. Alec knew that, that was the stuff people didn't really wanna talk about with their enemies or well even anybody. And Alec didn't blame him. Besides, Alec wasn't exactly the best person at comforting people anyway.
It was a bit of a shock considering everything. When you first meet Alec, you know from what he first says, the tone in his voice, the look in his eyes and the expression on his face that everything he did and all the decisions he made were emotion based. Not exactly logical like you'd expect from most people. Then again, of course Alec wasn't 'most people' he was the kid that used to talk to himself to sort his problems out. He wasn't like everybody else. And Alec was only just starting to learn how much of a divide that was..

"U-um.. You alright?"

“Yes, I’m fine.” The dark-haired Slytherin fixed his face back to its resting expressionless state and turned to stare ahead instead of at Alec. “Interesting, how you suddenly care about how I feel.” It wasn’t like that when I passed out after you pulled a stupid prank that lost me tons of blood, he thought. “Or maybe you don’t care at all, and you’re just asking for show. Don’t you think I didn’t notice how you had to bite back a smile at my misfortune. Disgusting. No wonder your mother clearly wants nothing to do with you.”

Wyatt knew he was acting out of line, especially since Wyatt was staying in Alec’s home. In truth, even though he was conscious of the things he was saying, he didn’t care. It wasn’t just that he hated Alec already, but the boy just saw him have a panic attack, and he was not only embarrassed but angry about it.

He was always angry nowadays, though. The one person he’d been living for had died and death isn’t a temporary thing. She was never coming back. Wyatt needed an outlet to relieve stress, and recently, his outlet was other people. The boy had become very rude, and even more distant and spiteful than he’d already been.

Wyatt turned to Alec’s sister, Nina. “I apologize for my behavior, but you should understand most how much of a git your brother can be.” Then, he stood and turned around to face Alec J. Mason himself. “I appreciate what your mother is doing for me, but that’s where my respect for anything related to Alec J. Mason begins and ends.” His hands were closed in fists at his sides.
