Paul wasn't looking forward to leaving Hogwarts, nor his friends. They said they'd write to him, but that was even worse than if they sent him howlers. Howlers... thought the boy. Can they be sent instead of voice messages? They shout though, right? Does the message have to be reproching and angry or does the howler make it that way? What if they sent me a normal, not at all cross message in a Howler? Interesting questions Paul! Why on earth have you not asked them before?

Paul sighed. Too late...

There were things he was looking forward to at home, of course. His parents who wouldn't be at home much, as always. His sister, who'd, on the other hand, be around way too much. His muggle friends, around whom he couldn't spare a word with, about his new school or the fact that he's a wizard.

But, knowing my friends, they'll mostly want to play football, for sure, not discuss my education. Spoke the realistic part of his mind, which he had to agree with.

He'd still miss Quidditch, Duelling, spell-casting and all the other wizarding perks though. Head up, Turner! Two months is not such a long time!

The boy pushed his black suitcase on its four wheels into the compartment and pushed down the handle. The compartment was empty, so there wasn't any luggage on the shelves above the seats yet. Paul looked at his suitcase, going through his options. He could lift it manually, or, he could use magic before the magic-less summer one last time.

Paul drew his wand swishing and flicking it, pronouncing confidently: "Wingardium Leviosa!" Roll: 16; WDC for Wingardium Leviosa 9¨
Paul watched his suitcase rise in the air, directing it to the shelf above his head. Then, he went on to choosing the place he'd sit on, picking one close to the window, in the direction of the train ride.

His backpack, he placed on the seat next to himself.

Turner was sitting there, watching the pupils who pushed their way down the aisle past the compartment he chose, waiting for some familiar faces to turn up.

Leaving Hogwarts. Woo. It felt strange going back home. To a relatively normal world. I never really like to call it ‘muggle world’ because to me, that's home. The world muggle didn’t sit right to me. I didn't feel like leaving Hogwarts either. All my friends, my roommates, and Dido, my best friend. Heck! I would even miss Tes and Jada. I mean I could owl them. My friends I mean. But I wouldn't physically see their faces for a bit. Two months isn’t THAT bad. Plus you get to see your muggle friends! I added in my head, trying to cheer myself up. Dragging my bags along that platform just felt odd. Or maybe it was the fact that I had two trunks. A pink one and a Hogwarts one. Soon, the train was about to leave. I boarded the train and I took one last look at the castle, knowing it was going to be my last look at it as a first year. Soon, the castle was out of site and I was stuck looking for a seat. I may or may not have spent 30 minutes watching the Scottish countryside so most seats were full. But down the train corridor I saw a boy use magic to lift his trunk and sit down. He was seemingly alone. So I dragged my trunks over to the compartment he was sitting in. Then I opened the compartment and sorta swung in holding the door frame. ”Mind if I sit here? Everywhere else is either full or people are screaming about quidditch and dueling and stuff like that. A whole year here and I still don't get some people. Or it may just be the sports. I mean those are a bit easier to understand. The sports I mean.” I said without using a breath in my paragraph. ”You’re Paul, Paul Turner arn’t you?” I said studying his face closer. ”We met at S.A.S.A, you helped my best friend with her boot? I don't know if you remember me but I'm Tina Carille.” I said, just waiting for his answer.

”Mind if I sit here? Everywhere else is either full or people are screaming about quidditch and dueling and stuff like that. A whole year here and I still don't get some people. Or it may just be the sports. I mean those are a bit easier to understand. The sports I mean."

Paul looked up at the newcomer. It was a girl he saw in the Skiing and snowboarding club. She and Paul were told they could skip the first meeting, being skiers. They both stayed tho, and helped assist Archer buckle the other members' shoes, and stuf. Paul couldn't remember her name though.

"Whoa, that was a lot of words in one breath." Grinned the boy. What a pace of speaking! See, Paul? You should do some speech exercises to keep up. Thought the realistic part of his mind. "Hi there. Go ahead, take a seat." He said, jerking his head into the compartment to encourage her to come in.

"Oh. So, you don't like the sports, I take it..." Figured out the boy, amused, but also kinda thoughtful. "Have you tried them? They're not that difficult, at least for the players. With moderators, it's a different story, but as long as you're just a player... you should be fine, like me!"Claimed Paul with just a tad bit of theatricallity, grinning.

"Hm, people can be tricky, that's true." Hummed the boy. "It depends on who you come across. Most people live in their routines, hardly doing, uhm, unpredictable things or acting that way." Shrugged the boy. "How to figure out what kind of person they are though, can be hard. I'm lucky. Only met good guys so far. How 'bout ya?"

Paul smiled, as she reintroduced herself, nodding. "I do remember you. You're also a skier like me, right?" Asked the boy. "How often do you go skiing?"

The boy matched my energy. Kinda reminding me of Ace or something. I mean, Ace practically disappeared after that project, haven't really seen him since. But they were both Gryffindors. So I guess it just ran in the family or something. Fun fact: I waited 7 minutes for the hat to decide Ravenclaw or Gryffindor. ”Thanks...” I said after he let me formally enter the cabin. I stacked my trunks ontop of eachother and cast Wingardium Leviosa on the bottom one. The bottom one also lifted up the second one up. Once they were on the rack I sat across him and smiled. ”Is that supposed to be a compliment?” I asked him eyeing him suspiciously on his comment about words in a sentence. But then I snapped back like a rubber band. ”It’s not that! ” I said after his comment about the sports. ”It’s...Just well i’ve never really had a friend in the games. I half wish though. And well the sports seem fun, I just don't have anyone specific to cheer for. ” I said looking at my skirt at the heavy confession. It wasn't heavy but it felt heavy. It felt like I was admitting I didn't have any friends. Which was certainly not true. Just none that played sports. Actually Fawkes does but shes duelling captain. Oh well. ”You’ve only met nice people?” I laughed. Not in a mean way, in a true questioning way. ”Lets keep it like that.” I said nodding. ”I’ve met a few. Mostly Slytherins one Ravenclaw. Ironically though my best friend is a Slytherin. Dido Bleaklane? You helped buckle her boot.” I got a little off topic. ”I wont name drop because that's rude.” Maybe those people were rude to me but I wasn't rude like them. ”I ski every winter. I do ski school and go skiing with my family in Switzerland. I’m not joking about that chalet in Zermatt. We rent it out when we’re not there. But we also ski in Gstaad. We don't have a home there though. We just stay at the Place.” This felt horribly like bragging. Strangely. I winced a little bit. ”I’m sorry if that sounded like I was bragging.” I said lowering my head slightly. ”How often do you ski?” .

”Is that supposed to be a compliment?"

Paul shrugged and grinned. He had plenty of people in his surroundings who were fast speakers. His mom, sister and grandma, of all people. Even Paul sometimes managed to say more than would be nice in little time. It certainly wasn't meant as a vile comment, but it wasn't completely positive either? More like a simple comment about reality.

"Uhm... I like to keep people guessing..." What an evasive maneuver, Paul. Finally a smart choice, m'boy. Thought his conscience. The boy shook his head, closing up the topic of fast speech, then watched her deal with her suitcases.

She had two of them, and Paul's eyes remained a little longer on the second one. Why does she have so many things with her? Well, she's a girl. Mom always has an extra suitcase on our holiday too...Ran through the boy's mind. The truth was that Tina didn't have a backpack, which was an extenuating circumstance, admittedly.

"Whoa, you've got two suitcases. That must be quite a load of stuff you've got there." Did he murmur, jerking his head at her suitcases. "How long were you packing?"

Then, the talk came back to sports and so Paul half listened to the load of words that the girl said. "Well, I don't do any sports yet, but I'm starting Duelling next year. So, ya can cheer for my team, unless we're duelling your House team, of course." The boy paused for a moment. Pauses weren't bad. They gave the speakers time to think about what to ask and reflect on their counterparts' points. "Sorry if I missed it back in the Association meeting or forgot, but which house are ya in?" Paul asked, patiently waiting for a reply.

”Lets keep it like that.”

Wait, does she think she or I can make that happen? "Uhm... I'm not sure me or you, or anyone else can influence that. Perhaps, the people who come around and speak to me, yes, but mostly, it just happens that things happen as they happen by themselves." My grandpa calls it faith, my grandma ne-sais-quoi. Also, too many happens in one sentence, Paulito, way too many...

As she spoke of ironically Slytherin, Paul became alert. That meant she considered them bad, but ironically, there was someone worth her interest, and that was her best friend. But why? Why would she use ironically? "Listen, Slytherins are doon in the dungeons, reit? It's the house whose ghost killed Ravie's ghost when they were still alive. Are they, like... traditionally bad or somethin'?" Asked the boy, genuinely curious.

Paul cleared his throat after that, then listened to Tina again. Dido, Dido... oh yeah. The one with the boot. "Aye, I mind her. The lassie named after the Queen." A spark ran through his eyes, as he gave a small remembrance smile. "Wait, if you two are best pals, d'ye no' wanna sit together on the train?"

Then, the talk moved to skiing, so Paul went silent again. "Hm, that's quite an experience you have." Hummed Paul. "Ah wish we had a wee chalet up in the mountains, but we dinnae have one." Paul huffed sadly, looking down. "We jist head up tae the mountains in Scotland every winter. Me an' ma sister go snowboardin', but we're baith able tae ski an' aw. It's jist... no that much fun onymore." Paul was apparently searching for the right words at the end of his last sentence.
