“My favorite number is in fact 854917632. What is special about such a number? Next, where is a place that has roads without vehicles, streets without people, and rivers without animals or dams?
Akina looks up at him, the strings at her fingers creating knots that have an odd but unique pattern, the colours are of each house at the school as her eyes drift back to the pattern infront of her. Pull, swish, four, knot. Each string moves steady and with purpose, fingers moving back and forth. Though by looking at her eyes you can tell she isn't paying any attention to them.

"Well that number is written alphabetically." Akina doesn't look at Tristen again, but her voice is firm in that fact. It was almost instantaneous in her musing that she answered, and the most confident she's been since laughing at Selene. "I'm quite happy that me and Mary used to sit around for hours with riddle books. Though she was better at them then me." The girl thinks before looking at Selene.

She let things hand from there as she ponder what the said riddle could mean. Ruins made the most sense because they wouldn't have anyone around, but the animals didn't fit. Maybe it had something to do with the wizarding world? Like a meadow that the fae lived in, or something to do with centaurs?

Akina shakes her head and looks at her work. Oops, she accidentally double knotted the current string. Taking a paperclip she pulls the outside wire straight and begins to pull the knot out, making sure the strings aligned properly before restarting the line she was on. She sighs, upset that the string she had to divvy out the knot had become slightly frayed.

"What do you think the other one is Selene? The girl says instead of crying at the ruined bracelet she was making.

"Well since I'm just the jester of the story, I'll just pout in this corner, do continue to ignore me good sir" Akina spit, eyes still filled with vemon. "I can tell when I'm not welcome" She stands and pulls a board out with string around a nail. Ignoring the boy as she starts to knot and build a rope like pattern, the different colours flowing through the strings.
Selene couldn't help but roll her eyes at the girl's reaction, although at the same finding it amusing out of her. nonetheless, she noticed the girl making what it seems like a bracelet, or well, something of the sort. Reminds her of a scene from that one movie called, 'Kimi No Nawa'. Ah, she loved the movie much. It was apart of her childhood after all.

Selene cleared her throat once more, maybe she was just thirsty. Nevertheless, as the train gets closer and closer towards it's destination every minute, it excites Selene, the fact that with every hour and each scenery that she'll get closer to her childhood fantasies. However, this is Selene we are talking about, she would know better to not always show her true emotions. Selene let out a sigh under her breath, sure enough both people wouldn't be able to hear her. She crossed her arms, her thumb slightly showing. Examining the blonde haired boy in front of them as he sits down after putting his trunk.
Hmmm, interesting. She knew it was a compliment. Tristan was intrigued by her answer. By now most would have already been either pitiful or angered. Tilting his head he said, “Your trunk, it has your name on it. You must have not liked your previous school, a public one if I might say.”
Selene couldn't help but chuckle at the boy's attempt to read her. What? Did he really thought he was the only one with the mind of a cynical being? She couldn't help but show them a sly grin. She laid her head on the side of the compartment, eyeing the both of them carefully examining them. Luckily, she was both a good reader as well someone with a tendency to profiling, you know, what the cops usually do to deduct who the murderer is. Profiling is an art one might say, you'll never understand nor know the possibilities and cause of many actions done by a human being. Selene looked at the boy, that sly grin still plastered on her face, lucky that she goes to the dentist every now and then. Otherwise she wouldn't be able to smile like this. Huh, focusing once again on the current environment and situation, she finally said in a calm tone,"It wasn't. Knowing where my old school was isn't anyone's business."

It's true tho. Her personal info or basically her whole life data isn't something she liked people to pry on, call her a hypocrite as you please. But every mind has their own thoughts therefore it is the same with every heart, they have their own secrets, taking many of it to the grave. She yawned, not the fact that she was tired much but knowing that they were a little closer to the place, perhaps an hour if she's counting it right. For a moment, you could actually see her eyes gleaming with excitement, but only by mere seconds that it disappeared.
“And anyway by idiots I meant the people outside of this compartment who would not stop pestering me for friendship and my name when I explicitly told them that I refused. My name is indeed on my school robes as you can see and friends are something I do not have.”
Selene stared at him with a blank stare, no, don't worry her smile is still there. "Well, you said so yourself didn't you? Theramin? 'Prove yourself so that you can start anew here at Hogwarts. That is what you wanted isn’t it? Let’s rewind the clock and you can prove yourself to be a worthy intellectual.' Everyone is starting out new, wouldn't be surprised if many are anxious." She replied to his comment, slightly her hands moves to make the air quotes. She watched as the boy seemingly went to sleep, but with his eyes not fully relaxed and his breathing still the same, no one would fall for it and she was right.
“My favorite number is in fact 854917632. What is special about such a number? Next, where is a place that has roads without vehicles, streets without people, and rivers without animals or dams?
She didn't bother to think more about it, after all it came out of the boy's own move and it will be answered by it as well, right? If not why else would he say it out loud like that? He's most probably just trying to test them. Ah, a big fan of Sherlock now are we?
"Well that number is written alphabetically." Akina doesn't look at Tristen again, but her voice is firm in that fact. It was almost instantaneous in her musing that she answered, and the most confident she's been since laughing at Selene. "I'm quite happy that me and Mary used to sit around for hours with riddle books. Though she was better at them then me." The girl thinks before looking at Selene.

Selene is an observant person, of course she is, it's a mandatory trait in reading someone. Now with that information out of the way, how could she not notice the way Akina looks at her of reminisce and remembrance. And by her reaction and her eyes she could notice that the girl looked like she was in her own moment. Look, a gentleman wouldn't let a girl cry and that term also goes to Selene. She sighed, annoyed obviously, knowing that at this state the girl was vulnerable no matter how hard she she hides it or how her defense mechanism would use it. For a fact, Selene knows when or how she can go too far sometimes.

The quote reminded her of a line from a book, it was her Uncle's she once read it but forgot most of it. "Yes, the order is in alphabetical order but there's more to it." Selene replied shortly towards the girl and the boy besides her. Perhaps it was from a book or the boy just got it from the internet or something, who knows? Either way the book's name was Born Thieves The Amazing Riddles of Abdullah Malobo'. Selene shurgged, as she waits for the boy to reply.

“I see... you believe you are proficient at profiling but you are incorrect in believing that what I do is profiling. Indeed all I am doing is observing. I do not profile, preconstruct, or guess. Well... I suppose if I could preconstruct, my observing would be easier to accomplish.” Tristan stated as he stood up elegantly. “Anyways, both of you, Akina, Selene” he said as he looked at both the females. “did not answer my second riddle. You are both correct for the first. Why don’t you profile me instead?”

After saying all this, Tristan sat down and froze in his seat breathing hard. He blinked his eyes one too many times and then fell to the side shaking. He was quiet, lost in his own world.

For him, all he could feel was the whisper of a touch, his heart pounding against his chest and the sharp pain of that day.

Abruptly as it had began, the feeling ended and Tristan struggled. He was disappointed in himself for feeling such emotion and showing it to possible housemate and also surprised at the fact that he hadn’t allowed himself to feel grief until now. He questioned himself on why it had occurred now when he had spent two years closing off his heart. He stoop up without a goodbye and left the compartment leaving the two girls alone.

Akina studied the boy, really looked at his pale complexion and greenish eyes. There was something there, something that she was missing. Something important.

The girl moved instantly to fling herself forward, board somehow behind her as she grasps for Tristen's arm. A light grab that could have been ripped off of immediately if the boy wanted to. Her eyes were wide, sparkling blue sapphire orbs that made it seemed she herself was surprised of the action she took.

Freezing in her spot she looks at Selene, unsure what exactly is happening. "You didn't let us answer you. Er, profile you?" Akina shakes her head, not sure what is coming out of her mouth. "You shouldn't just run away from your problems or from people. We aren't as scary as you think."

There is a small smile on her face, Tristan was rough around the edge but there was a person inside. Something that even Akina forgets from time to time. Regardless the tough exterior, everyone has some soft insides.

This causes the girl to try and pull Tristan back into the compartment, eyes pleading as she tries to coax the boy back. It was gentle and soft as if trying to bring a small animal towards her.

"Will you come back inside? We can start over."

It surprised Selene for a second about his reaction as well answer. The words that come out of his mouth when he said to her.
“Anyways, both of you, Akina, Selene.” he said as he looked at both the females. “did not answer my second riddle. You are both correct for the first. Why don’t you profile me instead?”
For a mere second, Selene actually thought that the boy wanted it. To let himself be exposed for the girl to see, but why? Is it because of the interactions between both of them, well, with Akina as well, of course, or is he trying to trick both of them to open up about themselves and to use the information he got from her? Selene clicked her tongue. As soon as the boy dragged himself out of the compartment, she sighed not knowing or caring about what to do. She thinks that Akina is being careless about what the boy's planning on both of them.

Perhaps Selene was being overly-cautious, she knows it and she admits it. But, in order to not experience the rising thunder and the sharp pain of lightning that could happen inside her already closed-off heart. What else might she just do to herself? If she continues to do the same mistakes twice? The feeling will hurt more than just suffocating. Like drowning, you can still continue to breathe but it'll be hopeless in the end because of how toxic it is.

"Well, at least this could be interesting." She mumbled to herself once both of them were out of her sight. She didn't mind at all if the boy wanted to go. It's his free-will and his own choice. They barely knew each other, she wouldn't even care less if the boy would tell Selene to his parents, she knew he wasn't the type to do so. He wouldn't dare, or would he? Nonetheless, she wouldn't care. It's not her duty yet to uphold the reputation of her family and the lineage of the Ackermanns.

This causes the girl to try and pull Tristan back into the compartment, eyes pleading as she tries to coax the boy back. It was gentle and soft as if trying to bring a small animal towards her.

"Will you come back inside? We can start over."
“Interesting… hmm” Tristan said as he abruptly stopped “There is no need to start over Akina… I just was afflicted by my memory of Edward. ”

Tristan after saying this came back in and sat across from Selene. He beckoned Akina back in and gave the first smile he had ever shown during this train ride. Whether it was real or not did not matter.
He then announced “Well then, emotion is definitely a hassle. But as I said before, try to profile me. Maybe you can figure out my burst of sentimentality” Even though his voice was back to normal, Tristan was instead going through the memory of Edward in his head. Edward, his best friend who never became more. It was chilling and sentimental but he needed to keep this unsuppressed memory alive. He retreated into his mind, allowing himself to wander.

He knew this sentimentality was what would paralyze him but how could he let himself lose his memory of Eddie when he had just gotten it back. He had the proof that emotion is paralyzing but he couldn’t end it. He acted cold but sometimes he wished that he could just be who he was in the past. He enjoyed life before but now everything was dull and scientific. The only comfort he had now was the ability of observing which allowed him some semblance of companionship and knowledge. He was ignorant of beautiful things and kindness. His parents, though wonderful, had never been close.

Edward had been the opposite, warm sun on a cold winter’s day. It wasn’t a crush as some inessant people say but rather a hope of forever that primary school children have. Well, after his death, that hope was squashed, and Tristan though technically still the age of a primary school student had given up on enjoyment and dedicated himself to science, and muggle studies. His mind was keen without emotion at least that is what he believed and he loved the thrilling chase of facts. Emotional intelligence was something he should have gained but instead he was truly a cold Slytherin worthy of Salazar and unforgiving of deception. Adding on to his odd traits, was the fact that the only thought of crushes and attraction he had ever had was with a male human, and the fact that he was a Mudblood loving Slytherin.

Tristan wandered further and further into his memories and thoughts, unaware of the two girls in the compartment. He was awake but gone from the present world and in a way it seemed as if he was frozen.

Akina turns with Tristan as he continues back into the compartment, frozen in her spot. "That worked?" she thinks, slowly walking back into the compartment. The girl believes that she is seeing things, but still hears what Tristan says. Her eyes narrowed.

"Sometimes it is not what others thing of you but what you think of yourself." The words leave her mouth without her wanting to, but in all honestly that's what she thought of Tristan. A man that is looking for a way out of something that they put on themselves. Using others as a wall to himself by throwing them to the side or taking in the 'disapproval' that everyone surly had of him.

Had anyone let him be him and live? Live how he wanted to and not by some design that was told to him? Akina couldn't be sure, but she wasn't going to really play his game. Not willingly. It wasn't right.

She sits in the spot she was before, back to the window and looks at the boy. Her board now forgotten on the floor, toppled over and wobbling with the start of her new bracelet on the ground like a colourful tail. "What exactly happened to this boy?"

She looks over at Selene, who still looks as prim and proper as before. "And to be fair, I believe that you are the same way."

Instead of letting Selene answer, Tristan gently said “I am very different from her. My choices have made me cold and unaware of the beautiful. Everyone who has ever met me knows as such and I must tell you the truth. I do not desire to become more than acquaintances with you, so do not attempt to do so.”
Tristan, after saying this, silenced himself and looked out the window somberly. If one could read his mind, you would say he was reminiscing. Emotions to him were painful and sharp after such a long departure from them and the world was always cold. Even though he tries to be cold, he knows he will succumb to them just as everyone does. Just as the landscape moves and disappears so shall he. Tristan enjoyed intelligence but sometimes his illogical heart wished that Edward could be alive still. He knew he could not bring him back but in the back of his mind, he wished and wished and wished for some kind of miracle. He was eleven but death and intelligence made him more mature. Did anyone else here understand that emotions just make you hurt more, that if he befriends anyone, betrayal or life would break his heart again like the shattering of glass? Akina was an interesting character. Her parents were both muggles it seems and they hadn’t believed her. Selene seems to have a mother who she hopes to see. Such normality… he wishes for it sometimes. The comfort of not having thoughts rushing around your head, heart broken. Ha, it’s been a long time since he’s admitted his heart is broken. He realizes meeting people might be changing him. Tristan sighs thinking about Edward. He sounds a lovesick puppy and yet he can’t help but admit it. If attraction was something that he had when he was nine it would have been directed towards Edward. Maybe he is strange, a freak of nature created by heart break but he is human at least

Instead of letting Selene answer, Tristan gently said “I am very different from her. My choices have made me cold and unaware of the beautiful. Everyone who has ever met me knows as such and I must tell you the truth. I do not desire to become more than acquaintances with you, so do not attempt to do so.”
The girl rolls her eyes, biting her tongue to try to stop the words from flowing out of her mouth. Akina had already said too much to Tristan, but she didn’t want to give up either. What could she say that would change his mind? Or at least put a different thought to roll around and chew on.

”You know I’ve heard in school that beauty is in the eye of the beholder and that you shouldn’t look to the forest for trees.” Akina smiles at Tristan, eyes still trained on him as she spoke her words gently. This wasn’t about her opinion or her thoughts about the boy, but if he wanted it maybe that can change his mind.

Looking over at Tristan, she noticed the sad look in Tristan’s eyes. Something did happen to the boy to cause this, but what? It was causing the girl to mentally sigh. Mary would know how to fix this, she would blast past this boy’s defenses and lash out words that would be the opposite of what he wanted to hear. But what exactly was it that he was afraid of?

By the by, you don’t fully get to choose if we are friends or not. What if I decide you are my friend? I could become a pestering ball of annoyance until you agreed the same.” Akina smiled at herself from it, it was something she had done to one of Mary’s brothers when he was sad. ”Or the fact that just because a majority think something, doesn’t mean it’s the truth. If that is how the world worked, there would be more cults in greater sizes.”

She nods to herself, happy that she said her piece to him before blinking and forgetting about Selene. Turning towards the girl in question she looks a bit sheepishly before speaking. ”And for the record, when I said you two are alike I meant in a way that you tend to keep people at arms length because you believe it to be better for everyone. Maybe you should think about what is really best for you? Misery tends to love company, or so the song goes.”

“But I must say one word against that. I am selfish and I do not have friends because I do not want to get hurt again. It is not some altruistic action of protecting others.” Tristan scoffed on the inside. Akina really thought he thought it was best for others. He was conflicted though. He thought I of maybe saying the truth. He was interested in what either of the girls would say.
“ If you want to know my past, I do not have reservations about telling it but you must not treat me any differently”
He knew that the reason behind Akina’s words was a desire to know what made him this way. He wondered why his past was important but then emotions aren’t really his forte anymore. He was anxious for their reaction even though he shouldn’t be. The two years of shutting out his emotions never really stopped that from ever going away. Secrets untold to his peers. Ha peers, that was not true. Peers cared but they never do. It all began because of pain and I suppose it would end because of pain as well. Silence at my death is common after all. Goodbye would be a good thing to say but Tristan could bring himself to say it.
