World Ocean Day
[ 8th of June, 2020 ]
Monday
13:00

'World Ocean Day!' Nico screamed at the top of her lungs, before storming up the cold, stone stairs. It had been forever since the young prefect had felt this excited about anything. Feeling genuinly happy and energized, even though she didn't sleep much, again.
Dressed in a slightly oversized shark onesie, the oversized head wobbling from left to right. Today was an important day for the small shark obsessed redhead. A red cross had marked the date of the 8th of June, with a small fish doodle next to it. Skipping two steps at a time, the redhead shot up the stairs, nearing the Great Hall. Slippers in the shape of sharks, their mouth open, stuck to her feet. Today was a day, where people around the world would think about ways to preserve the oceans, to keep them clean and to secure oceanic wildlife.
In her large shark pockets, she had a stash of tiny sketchbooks, pens and other artsupplies. In her other pocket a small guide to shark species that she recently got in the owl mail. The corners of the cover were kinda withering but the inside was still a goldmine of knowledge. Others would probably have never seen their redhead Prefect like this. Usually, she'd be kinda cold and trying to look mature. Way too mature for her age. But not today. She'd be dashing down the corridors, right to the Great Hall. Skipping over to the end of the Slytherin table, she'd take a seat. Sitting on her knees, dropping her sketchbooks and artsupplies next to her. Ignoring the weird looks around her, the thirteen year old started drawing a whale shark on an empty page. She loved whale sharks. They had these pretty spots on their entire body, almost like lights, lighting up from their blue skin. If the tail on the back of her onesie was real, it would surely be wagging. This was one of those moments that became rare to her, to be feeling rather blissful and happy with where she was. Not everything was dark in this world. There were good and fun sides. Entranced in the drawing laying infront of her, she'd quietly hum a happy tune.

World Ocean Day
@Nico Shymane
May had just gone out of potions class, and was running up to the Great Hall, happily. She had gotten very good grades in her homwork, and the blond little 11 year old was happy to finally go and study for her favorite class: Charms.
She was also happy to see that a familiar owl was coming to her, in the middle of the corridors, from her sister that worked at St. Mungo. She was anxious to open it up, but she preferred to go to the Great Hall first. Maybe there was something surprising there, like always. Well, Hogwarts was full of surprises. For the good and for the bad. Bad would be the fires and things that happened. She entered the Great Hall happily, and opened up her letter. It was a letter that said: HAPPY OCEAN DAY!
It had a few moving sharks and little ocean animals all around. "Ocean Day! How could I even forget!"
Probably lots of people knew about it. Probably not. But she heard a little shout that surprised her. She hadn't even seen the girl in front of her, with a shark onesie. But she smiled at her, and showed her the letter. "Look at this! I love this letter my sister sent me. At least, it has sharks. I'm very fond of them, and I think you like them too, right?"
May wondered what made her say this to her. They hadn't even met! But she was happy enough to talk lively to anyone. Even the Defense against the dark arts professor!
But, oops. She was in the Slytherin table. Did it matter? It still wasn't time to eat or anything. So she just looked around, quite embarrassed.
She addressed to the red hair again, "What's your favorite ocean animal?"

There he was, at the Gryffindor table sitting alone as always. A bite was about to be taken out of the meal he had in front of him, a potato wedge within his hand that was halted halfway into his mouth as he heard the scream of a girl at that moment, "World Ocean Day," it had said. Golden hues darted towards the entrance of the great hall for a moment when a flash of blue blinked into existence in the form of a fluffy looking shark. Zyks momentum carried the wedge into his mouth without his intention of actually eating it, causing it to hit the back of his throat and him to cough for a moment as he withdrew it and put it back onto the table in front of him.
Narrowed lids now came together as he eyed the Slytherin now sitting at the table she plopped herself down at, furiously scribbling upon a pad of paper that she seemed to produce from her innards. Curiosity seemed to overcome him, his hunger was abated for the time being, and he decided to slowly maneuver himself out from the table seat that he was preoccupying at the time being. Slowly, he'd shift his way over towards where the girl was sitting at the snakes' table, approaching from behind with quiet steps. When he got close enough to observe, that ridiculous badger decided to blurt into the picture and his mood was dampened momentarily.
Deciding not to make an issue of it, he still peered over the shoulder of the girl in the shark suit and looked down at what she was drawling, "Is that a dolphin?" he questioned quietly, hoping actually that the girl didn't hear him. One hand shifting up to run his fingers through the side of his hair as looked at the girls drawling once more, he didn't recognize it, not being well versed in oceanic creatures and the appearances of them. It caused him a little smile though, something he generally didn't do nowadays, the whole jovialness of the situation infected him slightly and he took a more relaxed stance for a quick second before realizing he was addressing a Slytherin and adjusted himself correctly.

World Ocean Day
Interacting with @May Moonstar and @Zykeal Lane | Open to interactionsNico had been so into her own excitement for this day, that she didn't even notice the people around her. Another girl apparantly seemed to share the same excited energy for this day as her. Or atleast something similar to hers. Pulling her head up from the drawing she threw a glance at the letter that was just about not shoved in her face. Nico noticed that some sharks were swimming in a loop fasion on the white parchment, which did catch her attention.
'Oh! That's pretty cool! They look so cute!' Merlins beard. This child was rarely loud but today was an exception of the exception. The ocean was nearly like a second home to her. Or at the very least, the creatures that lived in it. 'My favourite ocean animal? Hm...' Not even secondguessing that she didn't exactly knew this girl, the dhampir pondered, gently poking the gumside of her pencil against her chin. That was a hard question. Nico was all about sharks. And even though the choice of shark species was overrated, she said: 'I'd say a great white shark. They're so cool! They look super scary but also very beautiful and mysterious. I love the power in their muscles and tail. The way they can fly up above the watersurface to fetch their meal, it's terrifying but so awesome!' As she argumented why this was her choice in a mattter-of-fact way, her back was straight. Her hair kind of messy because of the rubbing of the oversized shark head attached to her onesie. 'What's yours?'
Facing the brunette, the shark could sense someone else nearby. Behind her? She could have sworn she heard someone else talk, really close to her. Snapping her head towards the Gryffindor, her sharkhead wobbeling in a hilarious fashion as she did. Dolphin? Was that what he said? She looked down at her drawing, which to her, was clearly not a dolphin. Maybe the boy wasn't acquainted with sea animals. Otherwise he should've clearly seen the difference between a dolphin and a shark. Nico smiled and a chuckle escaped her lips. 'Oh! No this is a whale shark. They're the biggest shark species alive today.' She tilted her her slightly, happy that there were more people curious about the life in the sea. Putting down her pencil, she quickly browsed through her small sea creature guide, looking for the right picture. 'Here!' Her paperthin finger gently pressed underneath the imagery of a big blue shark with several light spots across its body. She leaned away from the boy, so he could have a better look at it.

May was surprisingly happy today. Most of the time these days, she was very sad all the time, or serious, since she had learned that her mother was sick. Most of the time, she went to the grounds, or the abandoned toilets, and scrunched her nose into a Charms book to spend her time. Sometimes, she re read her fathers letters, to think what to reply, but today it didn't happen. She spent her time writing to her father, her sister and her family and celebrating the day, feeling very happy. She hadn't even noticed that she was seated in the Slytherin table. But she didn't mind. Slytherins weren't so bad.
"Cool! I love sharks too. But my favorite ocean animal would be the clown fish. I don't know, they're too cuteeee!" May moaned, for once, feeling overwhelmed by the thought of clown fish's.
Then, Zykeal Lane, that Gryffindor boy came. May raised a eyebrow at him, since he had ignored her completely. It was complicated, since the boy was Ivy Bellamy's best friend. But May despise him. He encouraged Sky Evans to open her friends diary, and it wasn't his business. And he seemed very angry, for once, with her other Gryffindor girl friend, and May felt a bit glad for that.
She turned to him, determined to talk to him as thought nothing has happened, straightened up, "I think it's a beautiful drawing....I didn't catch your name." she said to the onesie girl, smiling at her. Ignoring Zykeal completely for a few seconds. "I'm May Moonstar, nice to meet you." she extended her hand for the Slytherin (May thought she was one. But maybe not) to shake it. Then, she looked (again) at Zykeal. "We know each other. Don't we Mr. Lane? If you don't remember me, I'm May Moonstar." but this time, she didn't give her hand to shake it. She wanted distance.

The shark girl pointed out the differences between the species to him and he couldn't help but feel a little embarrassed about his lack of knowledge on ocean life. Beyond his basic schooling in the muggle world, he hadn't really visited much of the ocean at any point in his life, this was the result of his upbringing in the slums of northern Dublin. Regardless, he offered a smile to the shark girl who whipped around, almost hitting him with her outfit and being so happy to explain to him the differences in the marine creatures. A nod was given to the girl in acknowledgment before he shifted his gaze up towards the other girl that occupied the area as well.
Unfortunately, it wasn't a friendly face, he listened to the girl to try and introduce herself and regard him as 'Mr. Lane', had she even ever knew his name before this time? Weird, he had the feeling that this Hufflepuff girl was slightly obsessed with him and it made him slightly uncomfortable. Instead of responding to her in words, he just offered a shrug and decided that would be enough interaction with that one for now. Letting his posture straighten, he'd look back down at what the shark girl was drawling and he offered a few kind words, "You are a good artist," he said, "I'm not, but... it looks good," he said, a little laugh being produced from him as he looked over his shoulder and towards the other students within the great hall at that moment.
Zykeal would have liked to stay and maybe even try to draw something for himself, even knowing so little about art and marine creatures, he figured he might be able to reference something based off the book that the girl had in front of her. Unsteadily though, he felt a bit uncomfortable being around the other in the area, so he decided to give his goodbyes to the girl he found quite interesting, "Well, it's really great and I like your onesie," he said, looking up and down the cute outfit that the girl was wearing, "have fun though, cya," he finished. Tucking his possessions back onto him and turning towards the entrance of the great hall and making his way towards the exit then. Zyk made no other glances towards anyone else while exiting the hall and decided a swift exit was necessary.

'Oh. Clown fish are really pretty. Their orange colour is so bright and flashy. It really stands out when they swim through the blue sea. Or.. well.. In aquaria they do atleast.' Sadly, Nico had never dived before. Not in the ocean atleast, which may come as a surprise to some. Her cheeks were red as her body was filled with warm adrenaline. This was awesome.
Nico wasn't sure what was going on between both May and the Gryffindor. Not that she could tell much from within her spacious onesie. It didn't allow her to look around much. Because of that, the redhead threw off the wobbly head, letting it rest on her back and shoulders. 'O-Oh. I'm Nico Shymane. The pleasure is all mine.' She beamed, smiling warmly at May as her fragile looking hand was still pressing on her small guide.
Concerning the relationship between the two of them, May and Zykeal, Nico her questions would soon be answered. They did know each other. The tension was... not hard to notice. Her iceblue eyes looked up at him as he leaned into her again to watch her drawing from earlier. He complimented her skills, which warmed the young Slytherins heart. 'W-Why thank you. Drawing isn't easy but.. the more you do it, the easier it gets.' Again, she beamed. This time towards Zykeal. Maybe she could help him out with somethings, or even teach him some small trivia about marine life. But... he didn't seem to be keen on staying any longer than he had to. As if the onesie was part of her body, her fake dorsal fin slumped down a little when he announced his departure.
'T-Thank you, It's my favourite onesie. Not that that's hard to... figure out. Heh...W-Wait- Why are you leaving already?' But he was faster than she could speak. 'Oh... Guess he has more important things to attend huh?' She didn't really say it to May, but more to herself. Slightly dissapointed, Nico turned back to her drawing, her eyes glancing at the guide that was still open on the chapter about the whale shark. Maybe she'd see him again. Sometime. Maybe then she could talk to him more about sharks and whatnot.
