The itch hit when she had mentioned that she might be able to rival him at charms. His charm work? Doubtful, but he let her continue talking for a moment longer, not wanting to respond yet. She was a talker, which he actually liked about the girl. Dealla continued to question on which of the houses that he'd have thought to have been in before the year had started, he would have responded, but she continued with her own thoughts and he couldn't help but a smile to be played across him once more when her voice continued on. When she had finished, concluded that she thought she'd be in a different house, he waited a moment with an annoying irk still on the first statement that she made resting within his mind.

A sly smirk once again played across him and that spinning of the wand was quickly laid to rest with the hilt within his hand, the tip of it pointing in the direction of Dea, "Dealla, do you wish to test our charm-work?" he questioned, the auburn eyebrow raised as he tilted his head in her direction, golden hues slowly shifting towards her as he looked into her own beautiful aquamarine eyes for a moment. The tap of his pointer finger upon the base of the hilt of his wand was tempting as he was contemplating just immobilizing her there as they spoke, but Zykeal had made too many enemies and didn't want to offend the girl. Instead, he'd placate the Ravens ego.

Shrugging then, he let his hand pull back with the wand then, sliding it across her cheek if he allowed her, most deviously. Once again he began to twist it within his fingers once more and corrected his position, "No matter, you'd obviously win between us. I did ask you for help in the dullest subject, after all," he said matter of factly. "I doubt you can help me in this subject," he nodded once more towards the papers he had flattened out across the table in front of them. Without looking at her, he shifted his hand and let his wand rest within his waistband, where it was always stowed for ease of use. Unexpectedly then, Zykeal decided to pack his things into his bag that he had stowed at the base of the chair he was sitting upon. Papers, star charts, and other nonsense was quickly thrown into the bag. It wasn't long before he stood from that chair he was sitting next to the girl at and spoke, "Minus 10 from Ravenclaw for lacking focus," and he turned to walk away.

Zykeal had been quiet for a long moment, reacting neither to her teasing nor to her questions, but just watching her with a smirk on his face that set her teeth on edge.
But when he did speak, she'd rather he hadn't.

Dealla was... Dealla was fuming. And, somewhat, struck speechless. Also, completely and utterly confused.

She had no explanation for what had caused the sudden shift in the Gryffindor's mood. Had it been her mocking the nickname he'd given her? Her comment about Charms? The fact that she'd wanted to be in Slytherin?
None of it seemed to make any sense to her. A minute ago, they had been bantering back and forth, and now he was calling her Dealla like she hadn't just told him to call her Dee. Then, he'd proposed that random contest, but in the next moment withdrawn the offer in a self-deprecating way that made Dealla's skin itch - hadn't she just started admiring his confidence? Confidence was something she could relate to.
Also, with all the trust she had in her own abilities - and she had a lot of that - she hadn't meant that she'd beat him right this second. While she had done enough for Charms this year to receive top grades, she knew that there were people who were studying ahead, and so far, she had not had the urge to do that. Recent events had awakened a small but insistent itch in the back of her head that might change that in the future, but so far, excelling in class had been enough for her.

So, for all she knew, Zykeal might very well beat her in Charms, and her comment had mostly been teasing. It was his sudden backing down, and the strange way he'd done it, that bothered her. The fact that he might have done it to placate her was completely lost on her, since that was a thought that wouldn't even have entered her mind.
Then, finally, and most confusing - the weird wand-to-face touching. What was that?!
She had almost slapped his hand away, but been too distracted by his strange expression, and then it had already been gone anyway.

And now he was packing his things, after declaring that he doubted she could help him.

Dealla snapped. In a second, she was on her feet, fuming, her blue eyes flashing. Her chairs legs made a horrible screeching sound where they scraped across the floor as it was pushed back. "Might I remind you that you were the one who came to me for help?" she demanded, voice cold with anger and inching just-so along the line of volume that was still appropriate for the room they were in. "I don't know what your problem is, I was just thinking I might actually start to like you, but I guess you fit in with your House after all, huh?"
She didn't really mean it - most of it, anyway. There was something very obviously off with how he'd reacted, and in a calmer state of mind, she might have tried to figure out what it was, but currently, it was her temper calling the shots.
Calling her Dealla was a big mistake for anyone who wanted to have a reasonable conversation with her. Yet, she also had the sneaking suspicion that she had been goaded into this, but again - logic wasn't her foremost concern right now. Analysing where all of this had gone wrong would come later.

Dee snorted dismissively at him throwing her house point banter back in her face, but decided to let him go. It wasn't her focus that had caused this.
