Tick Tick Tick

To find something that he was actually good at was, to say the least, surprising. Having been raised as a muggle in what people would describe as one of the poorest muggle areas of Dublin, he'd confidently thought he'd be the bottom of the class when it came to his schoolwork here at Hogwarts. Thankfully, this wasn't the case when it came to his charms classes. It seemed only natural now that he was approved to progress his studies into the area of magic that he was most enthused with. Zykeal found himself in the classroom where he felt most comfortable within, entering it quietly, trying not to disturb anyone else at the moment. There was a laser focus within those golden orbs of his that clearly stated that they had an objective.
As per usual, Zyk had the habit of holding his hand up to his side with his ivory-colored aspen wood wand twisting through his fingers as a drummer would do. This was just something he had brought along from the muggle world, another one of those key signs that he might just not belong, yet. Regardless, he pushed forward and let himself sit down on the edge of one of the desktops. Hues flickering back and forth, he went over in his head the spells that he was practicing the movements for within his dorm room. Lids narrowed slowly as the tic's of a clock upon the wall started to annoy him slowly, this wasn't the time for such a thing to get into his head, repeating itself in such a clamorous way.
Zykeal stayed seated, glaring at the clock face as it disturbed his thoughts for a moment longer. The boy hadn't even realized there might be anyone else in the room at the time with how self-centered he was now. A spark flew into his mind, a little jolt of inspiration that let the side of his mouth curl up into a wicked little grin. For a moment, Zykeal would close his eyes, lids draping over the golden orbs that had once previously glared defiantly upon the clocks incessant clattering. Remembering the basic rules of charms was the first thing that he did every time he tried a new spell, it was no different here.
Lids rose once more exposing solidarity that seemed to radiate from the boy now. It took him just a second more for the spinning of his wand to stop, the hilt resting within his palm as he grasped the aspen wand and snapped it up, pointing towards the clock face. "Immobulus," he stated firmly, pronouncing each syllable how he had repeatedly practiced in his room before, "ih-MOH-byoo-luhs". The movement of his wand followed his words as he spoke them, natural motions of what he first saw as a wave was drawn in the air, flowing the tip of his wand as if it was also along the surface of the ocean. Zykeal was painting the picture, this is how he saw wand movements. At the end of the wave, he'd snapped his wand upwards and into the middle, letting the peek of a mountain top take shape, no mountain should ever be alone, so it had a little brother. The mountain overlooking the sea. Zykeals mind worked in odd ways.
There was no hesitation in his movements though, everything seemed so fluid, decided.
The noise stopped.
It was as if the room becoming silent also allowed his mind to become silent. The wicked little smile that he had once adorned slowly faded away now, there wasn't really conscience happiness on his successful completion of the charm. Zyk knew it'd work. Lids once again lowered to cover his eyes, wand lowering from its position to let his arm rest where it had once been before, the spinning of his wand recommenced. There his thoughts were again, drawn to the subject of his desire, not knowing if it was scripted that he'd be naturally good at the subject from when the wand-maker informed him of the properties of the aspen wood wands, or if it was the first class he successfully produced a spell of his own volition. Regardless, there needed to be more investigation into the subject of wand lore and it's a correlation with charms.
A thought snapped his lids open once more and he had the sneaking suspicion that he might not be alone in the classroom. Of course, Zyk wouldn't have noticed even if there was unless they were being as loud as the clock was, but, his mind was obviously elsewhere when he had entered the classroom. Standing from the desk, he turned and scanned the room.

OOC Note to Professor: Finite Incantatem will be my next post. Can be a follow up to this one in a new thread or I can just make a post in general for it.

Tick Tick Tick
After reading through the post, I have satisfactorily seen that Zykeal Lane has officially learned Immobulus.
