Hanging Toadstools

The apothecary's usual pungent aroma hit the girl immediately as she opened the faded wooden doors of the apothecary, sniffing indignantly. She had learned from the years visiting diagon alley with her father that the smell simply did not go away, but you kind of adjusted to it after a while. It was always that slightly-off metallic scent of dried herbs, sulfur, earth, and rot.
Of course, despite the smell, the girl had always loved shopping at the apothecary. There were always new things to explore, with the shop dimly lit by flickering enchanted globes and brimming with labeled components from floor to ceiling, the hanging ingredients swaying as people whisked around the shop. Every child knew that it was common sense not to go casually browsing in here, not to buy things blindly, to only touch when you're certain of what it is - but the ingredients were so odd and fascinating - it was hard to resist the urge to take a closer look.
Korinna glanced blankly at her ingredients list again. How did you even find anything in this place? She swore everything had moved around since the last time she'd been in here, or buried and stuffed under more ingredients. Slugs? unicorn hair? fangs?
Finally spotting some leaping toadstools hanging from the ceiling, she reached for the ingredient, standing on tiptoes. She tripped and landed with a crash, the toadstools in hand, muttering to herself as she dusted herself off and stood up.
It wasn't until Korinna stood up that she noticed someone standing behind her. She didn't recognize them - they looked to be about her age or perhaps younger, likely another Hogwarts student buying potion supplies.
The ravenclaw flushed in embarrassment, offering them a wave and stepping aside from the shelf. "Hello! Sorry, did you need to get something from here?"

HANGING TOADSTOOLS
The day was already starting out wrong for Rain. He was supposed to be going shopping for his Hogwarts supplies with both his parents but his mother had to attend to an emergency with a sick hippogriff. His siblings were able to stay home with the nannies so it was just him and his father.
That wasn’t the problem. The problem was that because of the last trip to Diagon going well with Rain shopping on his own his father thought it would be better to split up to get shopping done faster. He didn’t want to shop on his own. He wanted his parents to help him. At least his mother had been to Hogwarts, how would he actually know what was best? What if there were extra things he should get that he wouldn’t be able to ask for help with? Most importantly: being around that many people still terrified him.
With that he went to enter the Apothecary. He just needed to keep his head down and stay undistracted so that he could get in and out.
This would be easier said than done. There was so much to see and so many scents assaulting his senses. As he looked around the shop to see everything he noticed another child reaching for some toadstools.
She was standing on her tiptoes and seemed like she was in a precarious position. Just seeing her made him want to shrink down. This was only exacerbated because suddenly she tripped and fell down, though she at least was able to get what she was reaching for.
That’s when she looked over after getting up and dusting herself off and saw him watching.
That’s when she saw him, flushed, and asked him if he needed to get something from the shelf she was standing in front of. Considering the age she looked she must also be a student. That’s when he replied making sure to avoid eye contact.
Adjusting his glasses Rain spoke quietly, “‘Ello. I’m actually not quite sure where I’m supposed to get my supplies from in here. There doesn’t seem to be much organization. Are you familiar with the shop? I assume you know what you’re doing, with your list and all. Hogwarts shopping too?”
While waiting for a reply Rain looked back at his list, hoping he’ll see something familiar in the shop soon.
