Cures and Conceit PV Elizabeth Witherspoon

September 4th, 2026

It was the second official Potions class Eveline had the privilege to take part in. She quite liked Potions, of course. The first lesson had been theoretical, sure, mostly involving safety, the rules of class, and the definitions of a potion. This time, they were actually going to practice brewing a Cure for Boils potion - one of the most basic of potions. Simple ingredients.

Eveline's family exported and sold potion ingredients worldwide, so Eveline was familiar with the ingredients themselves. She'd even watched her Father use a few of them at times in his own potion work. But this time she was the one brewing a potion, and she was excited.

Then the other shoe dropped. Partners. They were to work in pairs, and Eveline had been assigned to a Gryffindor girl. Eveline had no issue with Gryffindor as a house, of course, but she knew she would work far more efficiently on her own. Before they even began their work, she abruptly stood, looking at @Elizabeth Witherspoon with a calm she was using to carefully mask her frustration.

"I'll fetch our ingredients. Don't... well, be careful what you touch," Eveline said politely, walking toward the shelves. She gathered the ingredients, Snake Fangs, Horned Slugs, and Porcupine Quills, then returned to their desk, setting them down near the cauldron.

"I take it you know how to use a mortar and pestle to crush the snake fangs?" Eveline asked, sounding far more condescending than she meant to.

She settled into her chair with an antsy position as her leg bounced beneath their desk.
