The classroom for Defense Against the Dark Arts was maybe one most the most plain of all the classrooms in Hogwarts. It was dominated by a facade of high, arched windows that took up almost the entire right wall, while the left wall was plain, dark bricks without any adornments whatsoever. The most significant feature a student would see when they entered the classroom would be the big blackboard that took up almost the entire back wall of the room. On its left side, a set of stairs lead up to the Professor's Office, which was locked to students when Professor Pendrast wasn't in attendance.

Long tables and benches stood at both sides of the room, leaving a main aisle that went straight from the door to the professor's desk, which throned a on a small dais right in front of the blackboard. The furniture itself was functional and not made to draw the eye either, a hardwood desk made of light brown wood, with three drawers on one side and no decorations whatsoever.

The room's ceiling was high and arched in the gothic style, one of the few features of the classroom that wasn't plain and utilitarian – which could be attributed to the fact that it was a characteristic of the room the professor hadn't had a hand in. In contrast, the tables and benches were made of the same wood as the professor's desk, each set made to hold four or five students with rows five tables deep. There weren't even scribbles or doodles to be found on the furniture; it was spelled to resist such students that tried to vandalize it.

There were two old, unlit torches affixed to either side of the classroom's door and an old clock with brass hands hung right above it. All in all, the room might benefit from some decorating.
Professor Pendrast will return 7-14 irl days after the thread has opened. If she finds anyone has tried to again access to her Office detentions will be handed out. Otherwise, she might be impressed by your decorating skills.

Cu ochii deschiși.

Hjørdis was playing with fire by entering this classroom. Then again, what was Elaine Pendrast really going to do her? Tell her mother? Please, Hjørdis would welcome that. Besides, she had to beat Caradoc and get there first. She had lost him at some point on the second floor, speeding past him and turning an corner unexpectedly. Honestly, how many routes were there in Hogwarts? She had no idea. He likely new the shortcuts better than she did after his years of experience there but she was faster.

She slid into the DADA classroom. It was quiet, and empty and incredibly boring. Pulling out a box from her bag, she placed it on the desk. If Elaine opened it, she would find a rainbow cupcake inside it. That was the nicest part of what was about to happen to the office. The rest of the things would require a bit more cleaning and effort - even with the use of magic on her side. She glances over to the door, her eyes falling onto the Head of Hufflepuff's face. She smirked at him, "Come on, slowpoke," She teased him as she took out a bottle of pink glitter and blew a handful towards the door - towards him. Slowpoke was pink, after all.

Decorating Elaine's desk with glitter, Hjørdis moved to the blackboard. She flicked her wand, levitating some bunting up over the blackboard. It was rainbow coloured triangle pieces of bunting with polka dot patterns on it.

Caradoc's words hit her ear. He was apologising for something? She was a little confused. Looking over her shoulder at him with a quirked eyebrow, she blinked. Well, she was confused until her gaze fell onto the sight of... pigs. So many pigs. "Caradoc... She's going to kill you..." Hjørdis replied, wondering why he was messing with her aunt. Her eyes widened as she noticed his wand aimed towards the desk closest to her. The one that she had just decorated with glitter. The one with the cupcake. Wasting no time, she flicked her wand, levitating the cupcake that she had spent ages baking for her aunt, "My CUPCAKE!" She snarled at him as the desk it had sat on turned into a pig. Hjørdis sighed and just poured the pink glittered everywhere, leaving the cupcake and bunting to levitate.

"If Tante kills you, don't come running to me," She replied as she quickly made her way out before Elaine returned to see her in the room with these pigs! She refused to take the blame for Doc's actions. She left as he was drawing something on the wall.

Catching himself out of breath as he reached the door, he leaned against the stone framework before entering exhausted. He had been quite surprised when he found Nora sprinting past him down the hallways. "What on earth- Madwoman" Caradoc chuckled as he inhaled and exhaled heavily. Panting as he stumbled through the room. Looking about he actually had fond memories of this classroom. Well... he had nasty ones as well. Umbridge used to reign in here and that set quite the tone for him as a first year.

Times had changed however and Hogwarts for sure was a merrier place than it used to be. If one were to avoid all hag related issues of course. As his eyes rested upon the empty desks around the classroom. Another smirk appeared on the man'slips. Elaine would have his head for this. But there was no going back now. The idea was simply too good to be true. And he would make it true.

"Sorry Nora." he said as he looked at the woman. "But I have to do this" He grinned broadly as he pointed his wand towards one of the benches and rapidly transfigured the entire desk into a squealing pig. He had no real idea how many desks there were present in the room, but by the time he was done with them, there would be no wooden desk left that hadn't sprouted four legs and a curly tail. Including the one Nora was standing next to. "Woops!"

Looking at the mess he made, he shrugged innocently and laughed out loud. This day would only be getting better. Swinging his backpack back over his shoulder he was ready to leave again. He waited for Nora to tag along to the next classroom. Before he left the room however, his eyes lingered on the empty wall near the entrance. Quickly he shot his wand around to hit several bricks until he had created the pattern of a bright red heart painted across the wall. "That'll do." He said to himself, satisfied with their work.

As Chad entered the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom, he shuddered slightly, eyeing the desk on the dais warily. To be completely honest, everything about this room scared the living crap out of Chad- the subject, the classroom, and the professor. Everything about the atmosphere and environment couldn’t help but remind him of a vampire’s lair. Not that he didn’t respect the subject or the professor, because he did! He had to respect someone like Elaine Pendrast, out of both common sense and self-preservation. He had no doubt that the DADA professor wouldn’t hesitate to blast him with some terrifying spell that would leave him tongue-less and eyebrow-less. Or something of that caliber.

But, as plain and dreary as the classroom usually was, the subject itself was quite interesting, he had to admit. And so, it was only fitting that the classroom itself matched the coolness-level of the class. Grinning at the already glittered-desk and the giant red heart on the wall, and the pigs (what the heck?) running around the room, he was ready to get to work. By now, he had found a routine, and Chad repeated the process of gently unfolding one of his flags and hanging it on the wall, just above his head, so it would be very visible to anyone who happened to walk into the DADA classroom. Stepping back to make sure it was level, Chad nodded satisfactorily as he sat down to write another letter. He wasn’t quite sure why he felt such a desperate need to sit down and write a full-on letter at each classroom he stopped by, when a simple post-it note with hearts and stars would do, but he felt that the professors deserved the little extra effort he had to spare.

Finishing up the letter, Chad folded it neatly in thirds, scribbled For Professor Pendrast across one of the sides, and stood up. Crossing the room in a few, confident strides, he bounded up the steps to the Professor’s office with ease. Quietly, he slipped the letter through the crack under the door of the Professor’s office, before straightening up again and surveying the room once more. Sure, the flag certainly spruced up the place quite a bit, but it still wasn’t quite enough. Maybe he’d simply have to resort to magic once more. His wand appearing in his hand from its normal resting place in an armband on his left forearm, his brows creased together in thought as he tried to narrow down a spell that would be suitable for pride.

Finally, an idea came to mind, and Chad grinned mischievously. What about rainbow bats? He’d have to make six of them, of course, one for each color of the rainbow… but a quick Avifors and several mutterings of Colovaria later, and there would be some epic, awesome bats flying around the classroom. Glancing at one of the chairs, Chad grinned as his wrist and wand rolled in the shape of an infinity sign. With an excited Avifors!”, the desk turned into a rather large bat, about the size of a textbook. Shuddering slightly at the sight of it, he pointed his wand at the monstrous bat and yelled, Colovaria!”

With a flash of red light, the previously blain black bat turned a violent shade of firetruck red, and Chad grinned impishly as he watched the bat flutter up to the ceiling of the classroom. That was one down, and six more to go… Turning to another desk, he repeated the same process, and then on another desk, and then on a third, and then a fourth… and lo and behold, before long, there were six brightly colored bats roosting (did bats roost? maybe that was just a chicken thing) in the ceiling of the classroom. Some of the bats had been a little rowdy, though, so patches of the ceiling were now different colors from where Chad had missed the bats with the Color-Changing Spell. Chad grinned in satisfaction at his Transfiguration work, proud of the progress he’d made over the years. Well, the past two years, specifically, with the help of Cy and her marvelous, gigantic brain.

There had to be more that he could do to the classroom. It still looked so… dark, and dreary. It was Pride Month! There was no dark and dreary when the queers were let out to party. The stairs leading up to Professor Pendrast’s office caught his attention, though, and Chad easily made his way up to the top of the staircase once more. What if…? Raising his wand again, directed towards the door, this time, he shouted, Bullarum immortalem!” A string of golden bubbles flowed from the tip of his wand towards the door, the bubbles not popping but instead, draping themselves around the doorframe and handle. Cackling with glee, Chad turned his wand towards the stairs, flooding the steps with golden bubbles, as well. Once he felt that the stairs were successfully covered in bubbles, he leaped from the top of the staircase to the floor from the side, bypassing all the steps that were now covered with golden bubbles.

So impressed was he with his handiwork that he didn’t even hear someone else come into the classroom! How careless of him… he really wasn’t doing the best these days, was he? And all the excitement of the day was doing quite the number on him, too, and his brain was constantly bombarded with sensory information. Maybe he should’ve started taking ADHD meds like his mom had suggested… Humming to himself, Chad waltzed around the classroom, turning the occasional brick here and there on the walls a different color of the rainbow. It certainly wouldn’t hurt to spend a little extra time just chilling in the Defense Against the Dark Arts Classroom, would it? @Airlia Winter would probably have to straight-up yell at Chad in order to get his attention.
