Yes, I believe it is still being worked on. Last update we've got on it was here where Zach talked about the slide bar being a temporary fix

I'm not on discord but I think if you have discord open on your laptop browser, you should be able to join.

My trick is if you’re on mobile and have an Apple iPhone (android may work too, but you’d have to look that one up) what you do is change your layout to desktop mode for Discord and it bypasses the screen forcing you to get the app and allows you to actually use disc without the app. That’s what I did once.
