Some people are worth melting for

Aura had lived her entire life as a muggle, not knowing of any other life. Yet almost all of the kids and families flooding the streets had grown up listening to The Weird Sisters. (Aura overheard two girls.) All Aura wanted was a friend, either Muggleborn like herself, or any one else to show her and teach her from firsthand experience. Aura’s mum, Nancy, noticed, and took Aura to the ice cream shop. “One with two scoops please!” The man at the counter handed her a cone, and Aura’s mum guided her to a table. Confiding in her mother, Aura blurted everything out. “What if no one likes me? Why cant Aurelia Amelia come? I won’t make any friends! I wish I could stay home!” Realizing her ice cream was melting, Aura reluctantly took a pause to scoop some into her mouth. “What if... I've read about other wizards, pure bloods mostly, calling, well, Muggleborns like me, m....m..mudbloods. What if that happens? I should stay with you! You’ll be awfully lonely! What if you get hurt? Who’ll find you?” With a comforting hug, Aura’s mum lifted her worries away. Happier, Aura started on the ice cream. It was going to be okay.
I tend to go on and on. Ooh, nice hair! You know, when I was younger, I had a hairstyle not unlike that. I am beautiful, don’t you think? Ooh, what a beautiful blue morpho! Don’t you love color! It fills our world with love!

"Hrm."
Jessica consulted her list. Most of this stuff she'd already bought before but had gotten lost. How infuriating. That incident in the alps wasn't her fault but here she was, doing it all again.
Aunt Delilah was supposed to accompany her but her guardian had said she had 'boring bank business' to take care of and set off to Gringotts alone with a kiss on the cheek and a request to "be good."
"I always am!" Jessica had simpered at her aunt as the woman grinned back and left for the bank. Now Jessica had a list to go through and a pouch full of her aunt's coins to spend on it. So where to go first? Flourish and Blotts? The bookstore would make a fine first port of call. But then she'd have to be carrying around a bunch of heavy books for the rest of the day. No, no that wouldn't do. Or... She could try Madam Malkins?
She pondered each place in turn as she wandered the street before coming to a halt in front of the ice cream parlour. A devilish smile lit up her face. Or she could do what any child would do when left alone with a purse of coins on a summer's day. Ice cream!
With a proud smirk on her face, Jessica strolled into Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlour.
Then almost wished she hadn't.
Someone was making quite the scene.
A girl around her age was crying into her mother's embrace. Time to... avoid direct contact, grab the ice cream and go. ASAP!
Jessica strolled up to the man serving and offered him a polite bow of her head. "Why hello little one. What can I get you?" He asked.
"Hrmmm." Jessica glanced at the options on display. The wizarding world had so many strange options that she never saw in the muggle world. What on earth was a Boomslang flavour? It was probably better to play it safe...
"Aunt Delilah says to always go as natural as possible," Jessica informed the ice cream man. "So a raspberry is natural. I will have that please!"
The ice cream man chuckled and gave her a raspberry scoop.
"Although..." Jessica took another glance around the room. "Aunt Delilah isn't here..." another devilish smile crept onto her features. "Bubblegum! I'll have the bubblegum flavour!"
"I already gave you raspberry," the ice cream man said, gesturing towards Jessica with his cone.
"One scoop raspberry. Second scoop bubblegum!" Jessica bounced up and down on the spot before remembering her manners. "Um. Please."
Exchanging the ice cream for a few coins, Jessica turned and happily began to lick at her treat. She'd almost forgotten about the other girl here. Now she'd accidentally made eye contact. Uh oh. Never much one to understand people, Jessica gave the other girl an acknowledging nod.
I'll prove worthy of my blood. Whatever it takes.
