xxxAh, summer. Skylar sighs softly as the sun filters through the tree, the warm air surrounding her comfortably. The sky was clear and flowers seem as vibrant as ever, with all sorts of colors dotting the fields in Hogwarts. The young girl sits in the shade of large willow tree, looking out into the Great Lake. It was the last day of school before all the students will go home for the break. While most seem happy, Skylar feels a little... bittersweet. The memories she made this year were plentiful, both good and bad alike. It is not that she is really sad about leaving, as she will return next year again, but it is the fact that she will not be able to see much of her friends over summer.

She built her whole routine and life in this school around her friends and classes. To leave that behind, even for just a month or so, is still slightly troubling for her. However, the more pressing issue would also be the limited freedom she gets once she is back home. Her parents say that they will let Skylar go out sometime when she is back, but they both know that is not true. They hardly let her leave the estate. Maybe to summer camp or any other school events, but just themselves? Skylar would never see anything beyond those iron gates.

Shaking her head, the Gryffindor stands from her sitting position, forbidding herself to think on this topic any longer. After all, she is waiting for her friends. At the thought of the little trio, a fond smile emerges on Skylar's face. When they departed after their little flying adventure, the three had coined and decided on a name for their group. The Wayfinders. Skylar stills runs the title in her head sometimes, feeling giddy and excited every time she does. She imagines they would be some sort of legend in the later years. Their endeavors and excursions would make them well known, no doubt.

Speaking of which, the girl perks up as she notices two familiar figures approaching from the distance. Apparently the squad was here. The three had decided to have a little fun by the Great Lake this afternoon, their last hangout before summer. Smiling, she jumps up and down and waves enthusiastically to her friends.

"Come on, Wayfinders! You guys wanted another adventure, no?"

The Wayfinders.

Skylar really liked the sound of that.

We'll Find Our Way PV: The Wayfinders
Paul was jogging-leaping-walking towards the lake, waiting for Ellaine every time he managed to get too far ahead. It wouldn't be Paul if he marched like a normal, calm person, no. He got off the path they were walking down every now and then, for various reasons. Once, it was a caterpillar crawling on a grass leaf nearby. Another time, it seemed to be a log which apparently hadn't been there before, and therefore, was a news that he had to inspect. Then, they passed around his friends whom he needed to greet and have a short chat with. Last but not least, he ran off to get some forget-me-nots which were growing on a patch on the right side, and looked pretty.

Uh! Got them! Did he think after picking two. They're pretty! Where would I put them? Hm... I know! I'll give them to the girls! 'Cause girls like my mum are fond of flowers, especially if they look pretty, which forget-me-nots do. And of course, if they don't smell like rafflesia. Ew! These don't though, right? Forget-me-nots smell nice. I mean, if they smell as nice as they look... Paul delved into his internal dialogue, inspecting the flowers from all sides and angles.

He even stitched his eyebrows thoughtfully, when he trotted back to the path by Ellaine's side.

"El, gotcha something pretty!" Did he call at his Puff friend once he came closer. Having put his hand with the flowers behind his back, he was, for a moment, he seemed to only be equipped with his sheepish, crooked, rather nonchalant grin. "Uh... would have made ya guess, but, since ya saw where I went off to... tadaa!"

He pulled his hand from behind his back and handed one of the flowers to the Puff. "There... as pretty as you." He chose a phrase on which he didn't really foresee the true scope of its meaning. It was not a romance intended remark, really. He used it because he remembered that a while ago, he heard an older Gryffindor say it to a girl while giving her a flower. The boy wasn't up for romance still. When he added his typical conspiratorial, one-eye wink, he didn't realize how thin the ice he was dancing on was, really, for someone who might have looked for romantic motives behind his actions.

"Whatever you do with it, just don't eat it. Might be poisonous." Said Paul, nodding twice to support his serious statement. Of course that he was joking... or, well, partly, at least. "'Cause pretty flowers are usually poisonous, as the prettiest, most colourful animals are usually the most dangerous ones."

"The other one is for the other Wayfinder." Claimed the boy, looking straight towards the lake. His sight met the sun, whose light overwhelmed him for a moment, so much that he had to close his eyes. Before he opened them again, he'd put a palm over them, to shade his view.

He then noticed the well-known blueberry blue of Sky's hair. She was... jumping and waving passionately. Yeah, that's Sky, with like ninety-nine percent chance. Ran through his mind upon that thought. A large smile appeared on his face then, as he waved back at her, without leaping this time.

"Look, there she is!" Exclaimed the boy. "Come on, El. Let's run!"

"Come on, Wayfinders! You guys wanted another adventure, no?"

Paul smirked. "An adventure? No way... I think we're good!" Exclaimed the boy, grinning sheepishly. Of course he was up for it, any time, any place!

The Great Lake, Hogwarts

xxxWhat had begun as a walk together to look for Skylar ended up with her trailing behind Paul on his little miniature escapades – not that Ellaine minded it at all! She followed him, feeling as if she were watching a movie, when he went to inspect the little world of insects navigating the world underneath her feet, when he went to check the odd little trees and logs, and when he went to greet his friends… Ellaine managed a tiny smile, a wave if she’d felt bold, before determinedly walking past them, seeking the most efficient way not to embarrass one’s self.

Of course, it did not occur to her that this might be the reason her circle of friends and acquaintances circled mostly around her House and classes, but— well! She did not mind it much. Her eyes found again its target: Paul, approaching her oddly, in that his hands were fixed behind his back. Something pretty?

"Uh... would have made ya guess, but, since ya saw where I went off to... tadaa!" Ellaine felt sheepish – there was no way that she’d admit her being lost in thought, though it did well enough to highlight her surprise when he handed one of the forget-me-nots over. "There... as pretty as you."

“I… Thank you…?” Ellaine fumbled over her words, confusion momentarily taking hold; before she decided to take it as if it was her showing a funny cat picture to her brother. She repeated her thanks, this time more firmly, and shelving away his words of poisonous flowers into her mind. Hey, at least it wasn’t a lily of the valley?

"The other one is for the other Wayfinder."

Nodding to herself – that one made sense – Ellaine carefully placed it inside her satchel, snug within a sturdy compartment. Looking up to see Paul’s head turn around, she followed too, the rays of the summer sun shining through her glasses at her squinted eyes.

"Come on, Wayfinders! You guys wanted another adventure, no?" A light chuckle trickled out of her mouth, and Ellaine felt her mouth curl up into a smile, catching sight of the distant figure jumping up and down – not that she was hard to see, nor difficult to recognise, no! The shade of her blue was already a distinctive mark this year, so much so that glimpsing that blue in the corner of her eyes was already enough to make her turn around curiously, wondering if that really was Skylar whom she saw.

“Skylar,” she called out, waving her hand in greeting. Her other hand she used to lightly pat Paul on the back, beckoning him to go forth together. The distance already short, Ellaine made for a light jog for the lake.

"An adventure? No way... I think we're good!"

“Good—?” she said, laughing out loud, a mock-incredulous expression on her face, raised eyebrows and all. “Where’s your summer spirit, Paul? It’s gonna be a long, long holiday!”
