It had been a particular hard week for Rosalind. At first it had seemed she could handle it. But all the pressure, the constant reminder that if she failed her father would no longer be proud of her. All those expectations to fulfil and now even the school failed to be a safe heaven. She knew the professors didn’t do it on purpose and they had to follow a curriculum, but still. Couldn’t they spread their homework a little more? Rosalind rolled her shoulders a little and waited for the satisfactory pop. Literally trying to roll the stress of off her.

She currently sat on her robe and was situated on the grounds trying to cram the last of her homework in. Rose looked around for any entertainment, any distraction from her situation. Then two female Ravens walked past, gossiping about an activity in the courtyard involving make-up and nail polish. Rose perked up at this and quickly packed her bag. She waited untill they were quite a bit away and followed them towards the courtyard.

As Rose could see it was neatly arranged with little tables all around the room. She could see the Heads of Houses that probably organised this session and politely waved at them. The room seemed a little packed already. Apparently a lot of students needed some time off and wanted to try some make-up on. Rosalind carefully selected a table a little in the back. She threw her robe over the back of her chair and loosed her tie a little. She still struck a powerful sight, her combat boots carefully groomed to perfection.

She overlooked the two boxes and began wondering. Her nails truly needed some touch ups and she might try some new designs. Rose slightly curled her fingers, overlooking her nails and already imagining some designs. Some beautiful midnight blue might be nice. Rosalind smiled at having finally settled for a colour.

Rosalind began rummaging in the nail polish box and began organising the darker colours. She already had some experience with dressing up and making herself look pretty, so this couldn’t be too hard. Her mother had held many functions where this had been needed, expected even. Rose frowned as she did not immediately found the colour she liked.

She threw a quick glance around the room, wondering what everybody was creating. She did a double take when she saw a couple girls dying their hair. Rose nodded in approval, those girls really got to have guts if they did that. It could be quite the change and if it went wrong. Rose quietly whistled. Daring, really daring. Further one, she could see people energetically discussing and waving nail polish around. Rose smiled at that. The manicures were truly a good idea to let lose.

Rose rummaged further into the box and found some golden stars, moons and droplets. ‘These might actually finish the look’. She thought. She shrugged her shoulders and decided to really get started. No more playing around and slacking off. She settled again in her chair and began applying a special layer around her nails. After she was done, she could simply peel the excess layer off and have perfectly lined nails. This was a little trick her mother had showed her, after seeing her struggling to make neat lines. The veela concentrated on neatly applying the midnight blue polish. Every stroke so carefully laid, almost as if she was creating a masterpiece.

Rose seemed to switch between slightly sticking her tongue out and ticking her feet against the ground to an imaginable rhythm. Her patience of sitting still already wearing thin. She could never stay cooped up for too long. But then, it could also be her mother’s wild veela side coming through. She smirked at this. Her veela side loved the attention and the pampering. Beauty had always been important to them.

A small breeze rustled a few strands of her hair and the veela cursed slightly as some flew before her eyes. As she had just applied that extra layer, she needed to wait untill it was dry to fix her hair back again. Rose looked up at those stubborn baby hairs until her eyes crossed. Rose just simply settled for pushing them away with the palm of her hand, trying to avoid her newly layered polish. After some more consideration, Rose touched the nail of her little finger. She felt that if that nail hadn’t been dry, it wouldn’t have been too much work to redo it. Then she carefully began selecting which stars and moons she wanted to work with. Rosalind nodded in satisfaction. ‘This would actually look good.’ Then she applied some of the nail glue, specifically on where she wanted to put the gems, using the smallest of the nail brushes she could find. After that seemed to be okay, she took some tweezers and laid the stars, moon and droplets just how she wanted them. Now all she had to do was wait and put another clear layer on top of it. This so that the little gems would stay put. She shook her head, imagining her work just slipping of her fingers from the weight. She slightly puffed at this. After applying that last layer, she observed her nails. They truly looked too good to be true. She nodded in slight approval to herself. That went quite good. She tilted her head slightly, looking at them in another position. They seemed to be good-looking in every way.

Rose then looked further on her table. What else could she do with all of this. Rose began exploring the second box, that she had totally ignored before. And came up with some black eyeliner, bronze eyeshadow and another white eyeliner. Then an idea struck her. She could doodle some of those henna designs her mother had shown her on a trip to India. The woman who had showed them, had been so kind and wonderful. Rose hoped she could do her some justice. They had been shown multiple designs over the workshops they did with her. Rose smiled, even if her father was always away on business around the world. It made her mother and her able to learn different things all around the world. She loved that aspect of her life and wondered where her mother was now in the world.

Rose seated her legs crisscrossed on the chair. A position she could truly relax in, even if others would proclaim her mad for it. Hurried she started on her left hand, choosing to do the white flowers she had imagined first. She delicately traced the flowers over her hand, desperately trying to recreate the designs she saw the summer before. Rose angled her head more and stuck her tongue slightly outward. She let out a little ‘aha’ as she thought she had done quite good. Apparently those workshops paid off. She held her hand out slightly and admired her work. She felt she truly did good.

Rose bit her lip and twirled the black eyeliner around in her hands. Then she tapped her forehead with it to regain her focus and began on her other hand. This time she didn’t envision an exact design and just began doodling, but still keeping in mind the rules and guidelines the woman had learned her. She began tracing lines, always adding from the center out, until her design began getting a clearer image, a greater piece. Rosalind smiled, this looked beautiful.

She felt truly good about her result and couldn’t wait to show someone. Then her glance shifted to her table and she grimaced. She had truly made a mess and all on her own. She began gently stuffing more and more polish and other things back into the right container. She hoped she wouldn’t be reprimanded for the polish stain she had made on the table. She could try to clean it, but still nail polish was a piece to get off of things. Rose decided to slightly move the boxes on top of it. No evidence, right? She shrugged and threw an apologetic gaze to her professors. They had strong cleaning spells right? She didn’t even know one yet so… Rose slightly shrugged. Time to move on. She quickly packed her robe and her back and went on her path.

When she passed the Heads of Houses table again, she politely waved at them and said her thanks for organising this activity.

Trying to shape the neon orange shadow around her eyes with the small makeup applicator, Atlas pushed in closer to her mirror hoping no one would look at her while she tried to even out the look and turn it into something that wouldn't scare people. Sticking the applicator back into the orange palette, Atlas rubbed the applicator into the color coating the tip once more as she was about to try and mirror her other eye.

Hearing a familiar voice behind her, Atlas' heart sank in her feet as her mouth went dry. Her eyes grew in size as she couldn't believe who had decided to show up to the makeover party. Freezing in place as if all of her embarrassment and uncertainty was bubbling inside of her Atlas had no idea how to react as her best friend walked to the side to get a glimpse at her handy work.

Maybe he'll like it. Maybe I did exactly what I was supposed to do. Maybe I just have a natural talent for makeup. Atlas' thoughts zoomed around her head as she turned to face Ethen just as he spoke on her handy work.

“Oof! I thought you were here making yourself all pretty again, I got spooked. Good to see you were just up to mischief,” Ethen laughed as he grabbed a red lipstick to start on his own look.

"Uh yeah, war paint. You know me always trying to get a laugh." Atlas replied as she stared at herself in the mirror realizing that she would need a lot more practice with makeup to impress Ethen. For a few moments she felt defeated and silly as she looked at her bright neon orange eye in the personal mirror.

She remembered how speechless she had made Ethen at the Secret Blossom Ball when she was wearing practically no makeup that she assumed he would be even more impressed with her face done up but she may have bitten off more than she could chew.

Internally, Atlas debated with herself for a bit wondering if she should go with Ethen's war point presumption and go with a crazy look or if she should stay on her path and try to make something from her orange disaster.

Pulling her from her thoughts, Atlas heard an unfamiliar voice addressing them as she commented on Atlas's eye color saying it was cool, although with her defeated feelings at the moment she had no idea if the girl was just being nice.

"Nice to meet you Alexis, uh my name is Atlas and the uh red bandit over here is Ethen." She replied watching as the girl applied makeup as if it was a dance delicately adding dots under her eyes and on the bridge of her nose. She moved like she was used to this sort of thing and Atlas couldn't help but watch as she observed her hand movements and use of color to try and see where she went wrong in her own application to make Ethen think she was putting on war paint.

"Your design is really unique and pretty." Atlas complimented as she stared back down at her colors and brushes in front of her still unsure of how to continue.

Hjørdis smirked as she watched Alaric set up. She chose her partner for the day well, it seemed. She could not help but quirk an eyebrow as he commented he would work around the design she was already doing. A part of her was certainly curious to see what he would create. Starlit goddess... Uh huh. Cute. She smirked, about to reply when a student appeared. A tad shame. The flirting would have to be paused, but they were here to help cheer up the students a little so it was worth it.

Looking over to Katrina, Hjørdis was about to go help her when she noticed that the young Elspeth had made her way over instead. Leaving them to it, she cast her eyes around. Greeting @Amara Dragamior in response, she could not help but quirk her eyebrow at the child took out hair dye and put it into a tub that was barely big enough for their hands. Oh lord... Hjørdis could already see the mess this was going to make. Magic, she told herself, would be used to clean or fix any stains left on the objects or floor around them. But the hair would probably... not go as planned. Maybe she ought to help. Hjørdis had her fair share of dyeing her own hair in her younger years. Maybe not as young as Amara was but she did dye her hair to hide the white. Her gaze fell on the box, it was... white? Well then... Amara was doing the exact opposite of what Hjørdis had done. Interesting...

The house mom - wait, no... The Head of Slytherin blinked a little at being called 'house mom'. What did she miss? It was a little odd that this was not the first time that she was called mum but... so far, it was usually Slytherins. From what she could recall, @Crystal Jagger was not a Slytherin. Crystal asked the pair of professors about painting. Oh well... Hjørdis definitely would not mind using Alaric's strong arms as a canvas. The thought made her smirk a little as she looked over at him. "You're very welcome to use my perfect skin then," Hjørdis replied, shaking her head a little at his words, as she laughed softly. Hjørdis finished off painting her nail and recapped the bottle, offering her arm to Crystal. She fell quiet for a few moments, allowing the Hufflepuff to settle in and start painting, "So... house mum?" She asked after some time, deciding to voice the question that had been in her mind since the girl greeted her. After the Hufflepuff incident in the common room, she had spent a little time around them but that was quite a nickname.

Hjørdis nodded politely, greeting Ariana in response too. The Gryffindor also seemed to find a partner, though, so she left them to it. It was nice to see more and more students fill the courtyard. Honestly, she did not expect as many as were appearing. It was quite the sight. She greeted the others that greeted her too - such as Alexis and Cassandra.

"Oh, Miss Knight, don't insult your gift. It was most appreciated," She said as she glanced over towards the young @Ileen Knight, after overhearing her a little while earlier. She had seen the younger Slytherin at the embroidery errand before, where Ileen had gifted her with the final product. It was rather sweet, to be honest.

Spotting Quinn Healy - who she remembered from the arm wrestling days against Caradoc Browne - she wondered if he was okay. She frowned a little, he looked like he was struggling a bit. Perhaps she could check on him in a few moments, once Crystal was done.

@Quinn Healy

Caradoc had heard of today's activity in the courtyard. While none of it particularly called him up for attention. He couldn't help but go and sneak in to get a quick peek at how the students were doing. After all, he assumed several if not most would experience putting on make up for the first time. For some it would have been funny, other would have probably cried after they realised how hard it could be. Back in the day he recalled Alaric having the most experience with these things. Maybe the odd eyeshadow was something he did for stage performances, but other than that he really just stayed out of that world. Not that it wasn't something to appreciate.

It came as no surprise when he saw his old friend sitting there when he arrived. In fact, it made him a little bittersweet when he was pulled back to the old days. Looking around his eyes fell upon several of his children present for the activity. Some were actually trying, others were... well. In the end his gaze took halt upon a lonesome man sitting all the way in the back by himself. Though Caradoc quickly recognised the figure as not a man, but his prefect Quinn Healy. Despite his outward appearance saying the contrary, Quinn was never the toughest of kids. Not that he needed to be. But he more than often showed the world he had a softer side to him. Perhaps he did it more than he would realise.

Noticing no one was making any moves towards him and seeing him struggle to put on make up caused Doc to hop up and down on his toes as he thought about checking in with the boy. He was not sure he'd be of any help though, not was he sure he still felt comfortable with perhaps receiving an eccentric personality after donning some make-up. In his youth, he would not have cared. Hell, he would have exhibited it for all to see right before he'd start putting on a show. But times had changed.

After a while, Doc couldn't bare it any longer. With a quick pace he walked across the courtyard in a beeline towards Quinn. Nodding and offering a wink at the two professors present as he passed by, he focused on Quinn and sat down across from him. "Mr Healy." He spoke as he grunted whilst sitting down. "I'm no real expert on this. But how about you practice on me first, ey?" He offered his boy a comforting smile and motioned to his own face. Telling Quinn it was alright to do so. "Don't mind the others Quinn." he said, saying the boy's name for the first time. Knowing it was uncharacteristic for him. "De reir a cheile a thogtar na caisleain*, the same goes with courage."

After crystal had asked if she could paint on one of the professor's arms, and made that embarrassing slip up calling professor Jensen "house mum", a familiar voice spoke up, it was mars! "If Crystal borrows one of your arms, can I borrow a hand? Maybe Alaric's, I'd hate to mess up your work, Professor Jensen." Mars asked the professors. She watched as they glanced around before speaking again with a grin "And how adverse are you to me painting your claws rainbow?" Now that would be a sight to see. Crystal smiled widely and looked over towards Mars "Hey Mars!" she greeted them, happy to see a familiar student around the place. Crystal was also thinking about Professor Equinox's response to her question, he seemed to be offering Professor Jensen as her painting surface. She was fine with that, as long as Jensen was okay with it.
Crystal watched as Mars sat down, starting to get to work on Professor Equinox's nails. She turned to look at the Slytherin head of house, not wanting to do anything before she gave permission. When she heard the professor's permission to paint on her arm, she felt pretty relieved. She now had a canvas, and it seemed like her word blurb was being ignored. She sat down and looked at Jensen's outstretched arm, wondering what might work well with her outfit. While she was pretty much given free reign, she at least wanted it to be something the professor might wear a bit afterwards. After quickly going through a few ideas in her head, she decided to do a kinda plant design, but somehow put a snake in it. She carefully looked over the paints and used a deep purple to do some outlines, not really too worried about any mistakes. Crystal could always just turn those mistakes into something else.
She started by using the purple to do a leaf design around the professors wrist, like a small bush was wrapped around it. Using the times when she ran out of paint to feather the inner parts of a leaf to fade. It took a few moments to get a handle on how she wanted to do it, but eventually she had a nice bunch of leaves around Professor Jensen's wrist. She looked at it for a moment, trying to figure out what she wanted to do next when she heard the head of house speak up. "So... house mum?" The professor brought up what Crystal had said earlier. Crystal turned slightly red in embarrassment and switched colors to a grey, painting lilies below the leaves. "I um, I was thinking about Professor Caradoc," she tried to explain why her brain decided to say what she said, "I tend to call him house dad."
She kept painting petals, varying the lilies in different sizes. unlike the leaves she painted before, she spaces the lilies out so that there was space between them. She tried to distract herself by focusing more on her art, and decided to stop where she was at with the lilies and switched to a different color. This time she took a dark green, and tried to figure out what the best way to add in this snake would be, curling around the flowers? Maybe Crystal could put the snake on the back of the hand, it was looking empty. Her brain was going through all the ways she could do the snake, and decided to make it seem like it had moved from the bottom of the arm up to the wrist. She painted a line that started from the farthest flower down, and made it appear like it went over, under, and around some of the lilies. Once she reached the wrist she painted the line over the leaves, not wanting to bother with anything too fancy. She ended the line in the middle of the wrist, before starting to add some detail to it. She thickened some areas here, and then switched to a lighter color.
With just a single color, it was hard to make a snake look good. Especially without an outline. So she used the lighter color to add a small highlight to edges of the snake, also adding the illusion of scales. She also used a bit of the lighter color to carefully line edges of certain petals and leaves, trying to make them fit in better with the snake. It took a bit of adjusting back and forth with colors, but she eventually managed to make the illusion work. It looked more realistic than what she was aiming for, but she was pretty pleased with it anyways. If only she did this in her sketchbook, she loved how it turned out. If she had muggle technology on her, she would take a photo of it for memories sake. It was the best snake she had done, and it didn't look out of place from the other things. She wasn't sure what Professor Jensen would think of it, but she was more proud of her decent looking snake to worry too much about that. She released the arm and turned to her slightly messy area, tidying it up a bit as she muttered about not having a camera to take a photo.

Smiling at Atlas as he admired her crazy neon orange eye, Ethen expected the girl’s usual chaotic energy to erupt with pride over her crazy make-up. To his surprise, Atlas was unusually short with her reply and didn’t seem to carry her usual excitement for mischief. As Ethen dragged the lipstick over his face he slowly began to wonder if he had made a mistaken in his analysis of Atlas’ makeup. He knew makeup wasn’t her thing and it could have been that she was just trying to figure it out. The thought horrified him as he thought about how he had laughed directly in her face.

Glancing over to her as he drew over his cheek with a long red line, he could see her peering at herself in the mirror. There was no look of mischievous plotting and Ethen felt a pit in his stomach not knowing if he should apologize or just keep the notion to himself. Deciding on the latter, Ethen quietly continued drawing over his face trying to come up with some intricate design. Scooping up a dark blue lipstick, Ethen began to add a series of circles to his cheeks.

Hearing an unfamiliar voice, Ethen turned and smiled at the arrival of an unfamiliar student. He smiled warmly at the new face and felt only somewhat stupid standing there covered in the absurd designs of lipstick. “Hi Alexis! Yeah thats me… I don’t know what I am doing here but it is nice to meet you,” Ethen said saluting the girl. The girl seemed to actually know what she was doing with the table of make up while Ethen barely knew the names of the tools in front of him.

Glancing back over to Atlas, Ethen gave a meek smile before shooting his eyes back to the table for his next tool. “You know… you are already sometimes… I don’t know, really pretty or something. Sure this make up stuff just takes practice,” Ethen babbled half under his breath to Atlas feeling a sudden wave of discomfort. “Maybe it would be cool or something if you didn’t do war paint… I think you would maybe look really... cute with some fancy makeup done like the other… maybe. Or you know war paint is fun too whichever you think,” he continued to stammer deciding it was best to remain quiet for the time being as he could feel a nervous sweat on the horizon.

Still looking at herself in the mirror, still missing something, she thought. The dots on her face just were still barely visible when she leaned back, it was not really her goal here. She wanted to do something simple, minimal, but still be eye catching enough for others. The style she was going for wasn’t complicated, it mostly contained lots of dots and maybe some hand movements. It wasn’t hard to do but the fact that she was painting them on her face made her work a little harder.

With a small smile playing on her lips, Alexis picked up an eyeshadow brush and dipped it in the glittery silver eyeshadow before apply it lightly in the inner corner of her eyes. She turned slightly to different angle, trying to see if they’re even or not. She heard the girl, Atlas, replied something about war paint to the boy, Ethen, but her tone of voice seemed to lack the enthusiasm a person usually has when speaking of something fun or exciting. Still, Alexis smiled at the girl’s compliment and said, “Pleasure to meet you both.”

“I’m sure you will figure out what you want to do, Ethen.” She said, looking at the lines of lipstick on his face. Alexis suppressed the urge to cringe as she listened to Ethen’s long speech to Atlas, she could practically felt the tension and discomfort in the air. Before it could get anymore awkward, Alexis decided to add something to finish his speech, “...and more importantly, you should just go for it. It’s basically art, but on your face.” then flashed the girl a charming smile.

Alexis turned her whole body to face Atlas directly, the girl was looking down at the palette in front of her, she has a look on her face, something she couldn’t place. Alexis observed she work before speaking, “That colour really suits you, Atlas. What kind of design are you going for? You know, you could add other colours. Maybe yellow... or even blue!” She smiled at the girl. “If you need help, don’t hesitate to ask, okay?”

Alexis turned back to her own reflection in the mirror and picked up the brush, which was coated in white colour, the one she previously used. She began drawing little petals around the dots she already drew, creating what now looked like flowers on her face. She proceed to pick up another unused brush and coated it with different shade of pink, the one that looked like peach, and draw different kind of petals around the white dots.

She change her brush to the red colour again and begin to draw to red flowers and a green colour for the flower stalk, she intended them to look like roses but now she wasn’t sure, finally, she just shrugged. Well, close enough I guess. As long as they looked like flowers, whatever works for her.

Alexis stopped drawing and leaned back in her seat, shaking her hand and blink. Her hand felt a little tired from keeping still and her eyes felt slightly dry from form focusing on the same spot for so long, she thought maybe she should not have decided to draw such tiny design after all. After a few moments, after she regained her energy, she went back to paint her flowers.

“Are you guys doing manicure too? Or just makeup?” Alexis asked without looking up, still adding more the petals.

After all the hullabaloo and whatnot that happened during the Blossom Ball and the Forbidden Forest scenario, Breana felt that now is the right time as any for her to unwind and join an errand. And what better errand to do so than with makeovers and manicures? Though for Breana, makeover also includes the hair. It may be a bit of an extra mile, but her hair was getting longer nowadays, and it's high time for her to change up her looks since graduation is less than a month away. With a small box of hair ties and rubber bands at her disposal, she was ready to get some relaxing done.

As the little Ravenclaw walked in the Courtyard, she heard a soft yet familiar ribbit. That's strange, considering she didn't remember bringing her frog, Sapo Cocas, with her. Then another ribbit honked out. This time, it was distinctly coming from her box of hair ties. Breana sighed as she held up the box closer to her face. "Saps, come on out, buddy..." She coaxed her pet. Sure enough, the large and bulbous amphibian popped out of the pile of hair accessories, making Breana giggle. "Saps, you coulda just told me you wanted to come with." She said, scooping her pet up from her box and then gently plopped him down in her robe's pocket. The frog croaked in what sounds like disagreement. "I know, I know, but I wanna do some stuff with my hair today, and I can't do that if you're gonna be on top of my head during the whole errand." The pet merely croaked in defeat before retreating and burying himself in Breana's pocket.

Now for more important matters: Who can she talk to while doing the errand? The one who organized it themselves was Professor Nora and Professor Alaric. As much as she wanted to talk to the Slytherin Professor about beauty tips and how she can have skin as flawless as her, Breana figured that she may be quite intimidating if she talked to her alone, even if Professor Alaric is with her. Then her eyes landed on Professor Caradoc and another student, a Hufflepuff, most likely. Last she interacted with the Hufflepuff House Head, it was from an abrupt but totally worth it song and dance number in the Great Halls. Maybe it won't be too weird if she can talk to him and the student?

Breana walked in closer to the two, but before she could speak, her frog croaked from the pocket of her robes. Her face was flushed red, hoping that the two didn't notice that. She coughed to drown out the ribbits, smiling and bowing properly to Professor Caradoc. "Heya, Sir-- er, Professor Browne... It's okay if I join you guys? I brought some rubber bands and hair ties too... I-if anyone needs to pair their makeup with a hairdo and stuff..." She said, setting her box on their table. She turned her attention to the Hufflepuff beside him, nodding a hello to the lad."Hi, I'm Breana. Breana Oliveire." She said, hoping that she wasn't interrupting anything between the two.

When Opeila described her busy life the last month, packed with homework, Ileen chuckled understandingly. “I feel you. I always learn about the errands the second I stumble into them. Or,” She gave the brunette Slytherin a quick sideways glance. “someone drags me there.” Her grin was wide and honest, to soften her words, since she was happy to actually take part in something. “And believe me, it was - you should have seen what the others did.

Ileen flushed immediately when her Head of House, @Hjørdis Jensen, pointed out that her gift was appreciated and the girl gave her a delighted smile. Apparently, she had managed to transport what she had wanted to express. Even though she was sure that it hadn't been pretty good. She wasn't the type of person who was fishing for compliments, but simply quite critical. Also she had not been aware that she could have been heard “Thank you, Professor. I’m glad you liked it,” A soft giggle escaped her. “I highly doubt that something I can do here, will beat that. So – are there things we need to watch out for? Maybe some that are permanent?” She gestured to the girl next to her. "I'd hate to disfigure you for life, Opeila.”

Opeila’s long brown hair gleamed in the sun and Ileen thoughtfully crooked her head. “Yeah, sure. I mean – I can try. I did It mostly with my hair or with the mane of our former horses- But,” She frowned and was already looking for a hairbrush. “Don’t expect too much. I have learned this for practical and not aesthetic reasons.
Following her new friends gaze, Ileen sighted. “I know, what you mean. My parents never bothered about all this styling stuff, even though I got the feeling it’s quite popular in pureblood families.” She shrugged. Probably her parents had done it to pretend to be not a part of their past anymore. Who knew?
When she noticed that her mood darkened, she blinked once and concentrated instead on the words of the other Slytherin. “Your Grandma sounds to be a strict person with principals.” She gave Opeila a cheeky grin. “Does she interfere in your upbringing much?” Since Ileen had never met her own grandparents, she was always very interested to know what the circumstances of such a relationship were like - and every time she could add a point to her mental list why she never wanted to meet her grandparents.
And about the nail polish – I really have no idea. But experimenting sounds fun.” Ileen laughed at the other girls spirit, something she was rarely seen to do. I like her, she decided.

"Immobulus," a voice spoke up next to Dealla.

The Freezing Charm's blue light shot out the tip of Jack's wand and toward the small puddle of nail polish quickly forming on the table. Despite meaning to appear netural or serious, the corner of the redhead's mouth involuntarily perked up in a half-smile.

"Getting a little over-excited, are we? Last I checked, that wasn't meant for the table."

Curious and interested in the errand (as he was with most of them), the Slytherin seated himself next to the Ravenclaw girl whom he had seen around the school a few times but never actually spoken to directly. Hazel eyes were drawn immediately to the blinding, atrocious neon-green glittery polish on the student's pinky fingernail.

"Interesting choices you've got going there. What's that, an attempt to ward off dangerous creatures? Repel idiots stupid enough to want to talk to you for your looks?" He paused at that. "Actually, that's not a bad idea. Maybe I should do it, too."

Though he had heard what the errand was supposed to consist of, Jack had originally come to mess with the face paints. After playing with them a bit for the talent show that he and Ruka had participated in, the Welsh boy had become intrigued with just how much a person's face could be transformed with just a bit of paint or other kinds of make-up.

Eye liner, for instance, made a huge difference on people regardless of their gender, he thought. And with the contrast of something like white face paint? It became quite striking. Definitely kept people's interest for things like theatrical performances.
