Well... That escalated quickly.

I have no idea when or how, but one second I had my wand ready and the next, I was doing a Spanish dance. And just when I was about to fight back, an Irish dance.

Honestly, it was getting ridiculous. I felt weak, vulnerable, and I hated it. I was used to being the one in control, the one who evaded the spells... Now I was the one doing ridiculous dances just for them to laugh.

No, not anymore.

They had their fun. They had their laughs. It was my turn now.

Once the spell was gone, I fell on my knees, head down, still gasping ridiculously for air.

Then, I smiled. And a bitter laugh escaped my lips. Slowly, very slowly, I raised my head and looked at my partner, giving her a nod.

"Good one, girls. Really fun. My turn."

I stood up, cause my pride and dignity may be shattered, but if I lost this duel, I may as well fall over my feet, not dancing a stupid dance dor their entertainment.

My hand rose up, holding my wand, pointing at the girls in front of me. This was going to be so, so fun.

By the time Laasya had more exposure to sports in the wizarding world, she had decided that she would be more leaned towards Quidditch. It was the only one where there wasn't much wand usage as the young lion sometimes had trouble casting the actual spell. If the pronouncation or wand movement was off by even a little bit, the spell would not work. She was alright in the theory part however. So, when a fifth year girl was hosting a duel, she at firt was hesitant to join. But then she decided to take part. There was a problem however. She was swamped with potions homework on the day before the duel that she had forgotten to practice some useful spells. When she entered the duelling room the next day, to her amusement she saw that other than the fifth year who was in Slytherin, the other participants were all Ravenclaws. The duel started but her mind was so blank that the only thing she could do for the past two rounds was evade any attacks directed at her, while her poor teammate was stuck doing two different dances. Then, she was able to remember a spell. "Got it!" she whispered to herself as she got into position.

The good news was that Laasya or her partner had not been hit by any spells. The bad news was that their spells missed. Laasya had somehow managed to remember the incantation for a fire making spell, which she used on one of the Ravenclaws. But her aim had been horrible and she had got out of the way.  But luckily, she had managed to evade a knockback jinx from the same girl. Because they had to be careful. Her partner had been dancing two types of dances for the past two rounds and the only progress they made was that one of the opponents had accidentally hit themselves with a knockback jinx the previous round. Focus Laasya told herself. She turned to her partner. "All the best!" Before getting into position.  Duelling was very different from Quidditch. She'd probably prefer the latter but times could change. There was also a third sport at Hogwarts called broom racing which was way more than racing on brooms, she felt based on the matches she watched. The wizard world really did have lots of unusual things. But she knew that she would be able to adjust with whatever came next at her. She was ready.

Holy Saints. Well, it looked like the odds were NOT in our favor. The good thing was that the spells they sent were missed. The bad thing was that our spells missed aswell. Great. Simply perfect.

I looked at Laasya. Really? How bad did our luck have to be? We needed to change our strategy. If we wanted to win or, at least, come back to our common rooms standing and in one piece, we needed to change the strategy. We can't keep playing fools. We can't keep allowing them the mock and laugh.

Yes, one spell missed. But didn't all four spells miss? We were not the only ones affected. Fawkes herself didn't look so good to say. She was maybe just as sick and tired as me. Maybe we'd both laugh about all of this at the room tonight, sharing snacks, telling the tale to Tina and Riley. If we made it out alive. I mean, we had to, right?

If not, well... at least we'd be together at the hospital wing, right?

With another nod to Laasya, we moved to our plan b. We played nice, they were cruel. Good. We could be bad with them, too, if that's what they really wanted.
