I Should Rethink My Life Choices
Time- Midnight, September 20th, 2026
Place- Hogwarts Corridors
Derek slipped out of the Gryffindor dormitory closing the door behind him with a creak. He stood there for a moment listening to the talk of the common room, which slowly went away into the night. He nodded to himself and turned around, walking silently into the corridor.
The castle was really creepy at night. The corridors were empty except for the torches that were flickering and lighting the way, and he also saw weird shadows on the walls as he walked and even the pictures seemed to be watching what he was doing. He had to be careful not to bump into the suits of armor that were standing in the dark, or else all hell would break loose. It all felt really weird like the Hogwarts castle was watching Derek on his excursion.
Derek stayed in the shadows as he walked quietly through the castle. He knew the castle well so he knew which floorboards and stairs would make noise and give him away. He was careful to avoid them. He also had to watch out for the Prefects and teachers who would be there to catch students who were sneaking around at night as Derek did not want to get in trouble with the prefects or teachers, otherwise, his mother would brutally kill him.
The thing that Derek wanted to see was calling to him from the restricted section. It was a book that had interested him for weeks. It was locked away and only a few people were allowed to read it.He had tried to get permission to read the book too, but his teachers always said "You're too young" or "Maybe when you're older" or "Jay, just focus on your work" Now he was tired of waiting. He would do whatever it took to read the book, and so, here he was, breaking so many school rules to just read a book.
